Chapter Twenty

Aphmau puts her comb down and looks at her reflection to check if her morning hair has been tamed. She smiles at her approval. She gets out of the bathroom and heads towards the kitchen as she starts to feel her stomach rumble.

"Aph! Breakfast is ready!" She hears Aaron yell as she starts to enter the kitchen. She chuckles. "I'm here, I'm here." She takes a seat on a chair and looks at the food that Aaron has prepared for her.

"OoOooooHHH." Her mouth starts to water as her eyes sparkle at the freshly cooked pancakes in front of her. It smells absolutely delicious and Aphmau couldn't wait to get a taste of it.

Aaron chuckles at the sight he is seeing: Aphmau's eyes widening in anticipation as she practically grins at the sight before her. "Eat up." He puts a plate and fork in front of her.

"Thanks." Aphmau grins like a kid and wastes no time to munch on her breakfast. "Mmm..." She mumbles in satisfaction. Aaron couldn't help but smile.

Then, a thought suddenly crosses Aaron's mind...

2 days left...

"Aaron?" Aphmau's voice snaps him out of his thoughts. Aaron blinks and looks at her.

"Are you okay?" She asks as she starts to put her fork down. "Is something wrong?" She lets out as she looks straight into his eyes.

"Y-Yeh.." He barely lets out. All he could think about is getting that potion. Getting that potion away from Zack. Away from Zack so that the rightful owner, Aphmau, could use it.

He can't bear the fact of ever losing Aphmau since he knows that her stay here is temporary and that just makes him even sadder.

He must get that potion no matter what it takes.

He hastily grabs a small bag and puts all the things that might come in handy: a bottle of water, a towel, a pocket knife, and other things.

Aphmau furrows her eyebrows in confusion. "Where are you going?"  She stands up and looks at him.

"Somewhere." Aaron says and puts the bag over his shoulder. He scans the area for anything else he should bring with him.

"Aaron," Aphmau says in a serious tone which causes Aaron to stop and look at her. "Where are you going?" She repeats.

Aaron looks into her eyes once more and sighs. "I'm getting your potion." Aphmau halts and her eyes widen in shock. "I want to go wi—"

"No." Aaron stops her before she has the chance to continue. "You'll stay here where it's safe." He says seriously and Aphmau didn't argue any further.

Aaron moves closer to her and gives her a kiss on her forehead. "I'll be back, promise." He lets go and walks away.

Aaron doesn't exactly know where to find the potion but he believes that it's with Zack since Ein mentioned that he'll leave it with him when he leaves.

He sighs and starts to head to where he thinks Zack might be. He couldn't help but be filled with anger. Anger towards the person he practically hates the most.

Zack.

Him. He's the reason to why his life is messed up. The reason to why his parents died. The reason to why he lives his life in straight depression, sadness, and vain. That is until she came...

Aaron smiles at the thought of her. The woman he starts to love practically everyday. Her smile lightens up his day. Her face is like a masterpiece.

Aphmau.

She's the reason to why he starts to live his life to the fullest again.

Aaron continues to walk as he puts both his hands in his pockets. That is, until he hears a tree branch snap and a voice follows right after. Aaron turns around and scans his surroundings thoroughly.

"Who's there?" He asks.

He starts to hear footsteps slowly walking towards him. He focuses his direction on where he believes the footsteps are coming from. Then, a figure starts to come to view. His eyes widen at the sight before him.

This is unexpected.
