The bed was moving. It was bouncing me up and down like a kid on a trampoline. Was it an earthquake?!

I groaned and forced one eye open. Blurry silhouettes of two kids and two dogs were jumping on my bed.

“Aunt Beth!”

“Wake up!”

“Aunt Beth!”

A deep dog bark.

Then a not so deep dog bark followed.

“What?” I forced myself to sit up. I was still very sleepy.

And it was all thanks to Blake.

He called me last night when he arrived back in his place, asking me about Allie on whether she woke up or if she had said something because seemingly Allie sleep talks, a lot. Then the next thing we know out subject has gone from Allie to about anything under the sun. We kept on talking on the phone about me, him, about us, but not like that.

We stayed up until half past two in the morning 'til we realized what time it already was and both of us had work the next day or in that case, we had work later.

The other thing was that I wasn’t able to sleep until almost an hour later when we killed the call. I kept on tossing and turning in my bed, minimally disrupting my dogs’ sleep. They decided to sleep with me when I went to bed but stayed at the other end when I started talking with Blake.

I couldn’t get him off my mind for that half an hour. I wish I could. I wanted my sleep but his handsome face always kept popping up whenever I closed my eyes.

And the difficulty of me actually falling for him was inevitable.

I am a mess. I am emotionally difficult and unstable. But then again, everything in the world is difficult and unstable. It’s just the people who you’re around with makes the roller coaster ride worthwhile.

After dropping Liam and Allie in the local daycare and texting Blake which daycare they were at, I head off to work. As I cut off the engine, my phone buzzed. It was a text message from Blake asking me where I was. So I typed ‘I just arrived at work’ and sent it.

Less than ten seconds later, my phone buzzed again.

I can see that.

He can? I quirked up a brow at the suddenly fascinating device in my hands. I replied with a ‘how?’.

I’m inside waiting for you.

Something inside of me melted. He kept this recent tradition we had going, and also his sort of promise to Dani.

Oh crap. Dani. She is going to enjoy annoying me for the rest of her life. I swear she was put into my life for that main reason. Her helping me is probably just an excuse to allow her to do that.

I looked through the glass window of the building. I could see some of my colleagues moving from one end of the shop to the other carrying trays. But what stood out the most was Blake. He stood in the center of the window in his usual long sleeved button up tucked in his black dress pants.

He was grinning from ear to ear like a school boy with one of his arms extended upward to the air waving from left to right at me.

He looked charming.

When I went in, I saw he already had a cup of coffee and a slice of cake on the table.

“Blake. You’re…early.” I said with a smile.
