Chapter 22

Grace Augustine

Flashback
Hakguk's pov

I walked down the shack with a smile on my face as I was getting ready to get into the link.All of a sudden my collar was pulled back and an unhappy Grace stared at me. "Where do you think you are going without eating?" I smile sheepishly at her. "Nowhere except back into the dining area for a breakfast sandwich!!" She grins at me and shoves me back into the dining area. "That's right!!!"

She places a sandwich in front of me and I groan. She stares me down so I quickly smile and moan. "Did I groan? I am so silly! This is amazing! Mmm plain eggs in between plain bread and ham yummy!!!" She sighs and pulls out a plate full of kimchi!!! "Yeah yeah I learned how to make it so...eat it." I grab the plate of kimchi and dig in. I nearly moan at the taste. "Thish ish amashing!"

She looks at me and laughs a bit then she grabs a napkin and spits on it. "Okay time to clean your face!!" I gasp and try to move away but she already has my face and she is rubbing the napkin on my cheek. "Wahhh!!! Grace!"

Flashback end

Jake places Grace's Avatar body gently on the alter while I hold the actual Grace in my arms. "Look around Grace." She looks all over the place then she smiles weakly, "oh man I need some samples." I giggle at her then I gently place her on the roots on her side.

Mo'at walks over to Grace then she looks at both Jake and I. "The great mother may choose to save all of Grace-" she moves her hands from the real Grace to the Avatar Grace. "To this body." Hakguk's eyes widen. "Is that possible?" Jake asks. Mo'at stares at them sadly. "Possible yes...she must pass through the gates of Eywa and return but she is very weak."

Flashback

I walk into the shack with tears in my eyes after I realized I truly loved Tsu'tey. I sit at the dining area with a solem expression on his face. "Why so sad?" I look over and see Grace walk in with her pjs on. I sigh and turn away. "It's nothing." She walks over to the coffee maker and clicks start. Then she walks over to the cabinets and grabs two cups.

"Is it about that whole don't get attached to Pandora thing?" She rummages around for some sugar then she pulls out a container full of it. "No" she pulls the coffee out and pours it evenly between the two cups. She then places one in front of me. She hands me the sugar and some creamer which I happily take and add to my cup.

"Yes it is." I glance at her and stir my coffee. "Grace it's too late for me...ever since I got chased down by that thantor I've been tying my heart strings everywhere." She grabs the creamer and adds a bit in her cup. "Yeah I know...and that's okay." I glance at her curiously. "But you said not to-" she cut me off by raising her hands in a halt motion.

"You are a scientist but deep down you are also a human who can't help but feel love towards something worth loving..." she takes a sip of her coffee. "You are young and I have seen just how much those people love you...you may have let your emotions get the better of you but you aren't the only one. Just like you love this planet and those people they love you right back."

I look down at my coffee cup and sigh. "But why did I have to go and do that!" She chuckles at my outburst. "You have a big heart sweetheart...you grew up in a world that lacked love and now you found a world that is full of it. Your big heart feels at home here." She points to my chest. "It's okay to love the people here alright....it's okay."

Flashback end

I walk over to Grace and peck her cheek. "They are going to fix you right up just hang in there." She looks over and smiles warmly at Jake and I. "I'm proud of you both...you gave these people what I never could...protect them." We look at eachother and nod. "We will." We both back up seeing as Mo'at was about to start the ceremony.

Mo'at stands in a sort of trance as she looks up at the Mother Tree.Drums can be heard and all the people of the clan dance and chant to the beat of the rhythm. Not long after Mo'at begins to chant as the natives chant as well. Little threads sprout form beneath her and attach themselves to her and her body. Jake and Hakguk stand back and watch in fear and awe.

Mo'at falls to her knees as her arms shake wildly,her eyes roll to the back of her head showing only white. This goes on for a while until Grace gasps loudly startling Jake and Hakguk. "Grace!" Hakguk runs over and grabs her tiny hand in his. Jake walks over and cups her cheek sadly. "I'm with her Hakguk...she is real." She inhales sharply as blood seeps through her wound and tracked down to the white root cilia.

She lets out a final breath as her eyes begin to close. "No grace no!" Hakguk kisses her hand as Jake calls out to her. "Don't leave!" Mo'at tries to bring her back but she fails. Stepping back she bows her head in sadness then she stares at Jake. "Her wounds were to great...she is with Eywa now." Hakguk stares at Grace who is now as pale as a sheet of paper. Her once warm hands were now cold. Her rosy cheeks were now blue and her eyes lost their shimmer.

Jake moves Grace's mask aside and puts it next to her head. Hakguk growls then he stands up and walks over to Tsu'tey. "With your permission can Jake and I say a few words?" Tsu'tey nods sadly. Hakguk walks back over to Jake and stands tall and firm. Jake clenches his fists then he stands up as well and growls. "The Sky People have sent a message that they can take whatever they want, and no one can stop them. But we will send them a message!"

Hakguk walked forward and translated then he added his part.
"Ride out, as fast as the wind can carry you, tell the other clans to come. Tell them Toruk Macto and Pangea calls to them. Fly now with me brothers and sisters! Fly! And we will show the Sky People that this is our land!"

Tsu'tey walks over and let's out an excited war cry. Many of the natives follow suit and soon they were beginning to gear up for battle and the rallying of the other tribes. Hakguk walks over to tsu'tey and holds his hand with a blush on his blue face. "Lets do this together." Tsu'tey grins down at hakguk then he leans over and kisses his cheek. "Yes my love"
