Chapter 66

Alex's POV

The doctors say "it's just a blow to the shoulder" but they don't know the pain. It's terrible. Just sitting here in this dreadful hospital room makes my shoulder hurt. Why does this stuff happen to me? Karma? What have I done? I begin to cry. I don't deserve this. No matter what I have done I don't deserve this. I could have completely messed up my shoulder with the bullet I got shot with.

Niall is constantly in here. Everyone is in here a lot but Niall seems to always find a way to sneak in here. It's quite amusing sometimes when him and a nurse get into an argument when he's trying to see me. The pain medication seems to not work seventy-five percent of the time but I don't want to share that with Niall because he will just go ballistic and find a nurse or doctor to bump up my dose.

"Niall, please go home and eat." I speak

"I want to be here with you." he states

"Please?" I beg

"Fine. When I'm done I'm going to rush right back over here though." he says and kisses my cheek

"I love you." he smiles and walks out the door

I sigh when I am left alone. I close my eyes and I'm about to fall asleep but the doors opens and I divert my attention to the door. A new nurse comes in with my clipboard.

"I'm the new nurse for this shift. My name is Perrie. How are you feeling, dear?" she asks me

"I have lots of pain. More pain than yesterday." I speak

"I'll talk to doctor Rodgers and see if I can rise your dosage." she says sweetly

"Thank you so much." I smile and she leaves the room

For the time she's gone I do my regular thing and stare at the wall. I'm too weak to do anything else honestly.

"The doctor says we can give you three-hundred milligrams now." Perrie says and hands me the tablets of medicine

Soon another nurse hands Perrie my dinner for tonight. It's mash potatoes with mystery meat. I push it to the side. Looks nasty...

"C'mon Miss. Carter, please eat." Perrie pleads

"I don't feel like." I groan

"How about I bring you the other half of my sandwich. Will you eat it please?" she asks

"I'm not going to steal your dinner." I say

"I'll be back in five minutes." she smiles

I sigh. There's no arguing with her. I hate to steal her food. She soon comes in with a brown paper bag.

"I'll spend my dinner break with you if that's okay?" she asks

"I don't mind." I smile

She hands me half of her chicken sandwich and it's delicious.

"Thank you so much." I thank

"It's no problem." she smiles

She's so sweet.

"So I heard what your boyfriend did." she laughs

"Which time?" I joke

"How he was cussing at Justin. He's the male nurse."

"Oh...."

"He's quite protective of you."

"Very."

"By the way, you can call me Alex. Miss. Carter sounds so fancy." I add

"Okay, Alex." she says

Niall's POV

I wake up to the sound of my phone of my ringing. I begin to panic because I left the hospital at five o'clock tonight and told Alex I would be back soon but now it's ten o'clock at night.

Austin:

Are you still alive?

Visiting hours end in thirty minutes

I jump out of bed and grab my keys. The hospital is only ten minutes away and so I'll have twenty minutes to talk to her. I call Austin and tell him I'll be at hospital in a few minutes. Soon enough I'm walking through the doors of the hospital and run before an elevator closes. There is a little girl with her father in the elevator. There's no speaking and they exit to the fourth floor, which is where the cancer patients are at. I begin to frown and hope that everything will be okay for them in their situation.

I soon exit the elevator and rush down the hall to Alex's room and when I open the door a nurse and Alex are laughing.

"Oh hey Niall. This is Perrie." Alex introduces

"Hi!" she chirps

"Hello there." I chuckle and walk over to Alex and kiss her cheek

"How are you feeling?" I ask Alex

"A lot better actually. They bumped up my dosage."

"Why'd they bump it up?" I cock an eyebrow

"Just some pain in my shoulder but I can go home tomorrow!" she grins

"I'm glad!" I say joyfully

"I will just tell the nurses that nobody is in here. You can stay here as long as you want." Perrie says

I like this Perrie chick.

"Thank you so much." I thank

"Niiiiialllll." Alex groans

"What?" I ask

"Will you please sleep with me?" she asks

"I don't want to hurt you, Alex." I sadly say

"You won't. Please, it's cold here without you." she says

"Fine." I can't help but smile

So she doesn't move I put my arms around the back of her thighs and move her over.

"Goodnight, I love you." I whisper in her ear

"I love you too." she whispers

I don't know about her but I soon fall into a deep sleep.

"Niall." she cries

I wake up to the sound of crying. Alex's bandage is absorbed with blood. I start to freak out myself

"The stitches ripped and it hurts to bad and." she cries

I immediately get out of bed and rush out the door.

"I need a nurse or doctor right now!" I panic

Soon three nurses rush into the room unhook all the tubes to Alex and transfer her to a different bed.

"What's happening?" I raise my voice

The two other nurses take Alex out of the room and the one nurse stays with me.

"The stitches split and lots of blood came out of the wound. The gun shot badly messed up her shoulder and with the stitches splitting it opened up the wound which isn't good at all."

"So what does this mean?"

"Sir, I think we will need a blood donation for her. She has lost so much already."
