I stretch out on my towel as I soak in the rays from the sun. Summer vacation had just started and I was planning on spending as much time at the beach this summer as humanly possible. I close my eyes with a smile, letting the sun wash over my body as I listen to the crash of the waves against the shore. The beach was fairly deserted today since there was a chance of rain later on but I didn’t care. I’d enjoy the sun while I could.

“Liam can we go surfing” a voice squeals, interrupting my reverie. I open my eyes and glance over to see a group of boys walking out onto the sand. My eyes scan over them as they strip off their shirts. They were all extremely fit yet my eyes were drawn to one in particular. His hair was swept to the side and his eyes were glowing from excitement. Even from this distance I could see the joy radiating off of him.

“Yes Louis” one of the boys responds with a sigh. I smile to myself, pleased that I now knew his name. The boys walk off to the surf shop and I let my eyes close figuring that was the last I saw of them.

After a while, I get tired of just laying there and get up and start building a sand castle. I glance down the beach and see that group of boys again. Three of them were playing in the shallow water, splashing each other. I search for the one that had caught my eye and finally see him out in the deeper water surfing with the one he had been talking to earlier. I focus back on the sandcastle meticulously building tall towers and adding detail to the walls. Time passes and I’m just finishing the moat when a shadow is cast across me. I look up in surprise and see the boy there. Louis was his name.

“I like your castle” he says with a goofy grin squatting down next to me so we were even height. “It’s just missing one thing” he says. I look between him and the castle in confusion trying to figure out what it was that was missing.

“What is it?” I ask finally.

“A flag” he says grabbing a twig and sticking a small piece of seaweed on it and settling it down on top of one of the towers. I let out a laugh as I look back at him, taking in his features more clearly now. He was extremely fit. His eyes glowed with childlike joy as they met mine.

“I’m Louis Tomlinson,” he says with a smile.

“Lilly” I reply with a grin.

“Do you like carrots?” he suddenly asks, surprising me with his randomness.

“Uhh I suppose?” I say with a laugh.

“Good” he answers with a smile that took my breath away. “I like girls who like carrots.”
