Chapter Four

Hidden Chamber

Elizabeth walked into the dark hallway, cupping her hands to hold her light orb that lit up the room and showed that there was a staircase bellow. Everyone else followed quickly behind and Edmund took up the caboose with his flashlight shining in hand. She wasn't able to explain it, but there was an overwhelming feeling of power coming from whatever was in this dark room. She couldn't quite put her finger on why, but she recognized that part of the huge feeling of power was her own from a long time ago, but there was another source of power that she didn't recognize. The power didn't even belong to that of Jadis that Aslan had defeated long ago, there was no one else though that Elizabeth remembered having the ability to use magic.

Once they made it about halfway down the stairs they reached a platform right before descending on the second flight of stairs and a bit of Elizabeth's light echoed down into the giant chamber bellow. Elizabeth brought her hands to her mouth before letting out a soft blow like one would do with snow, and the light yellow and white sparks exploded from her hands spiraling around the room and finding their lamp posts in the chamber below, lighting up everywhere and the room was now brightly lit that the group could see the five memorials bellow. Lucy's face lit up in remembrance and then sprinted down the spiral staircase after the others.

Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs, there was a hallway that extended past the stairs that didn't light up along with everything else when Elizabeth had lit up the room. Elizabeth found this odd considering when this room was first built, the centaurs had special lanterns built that would be lit up when Elizabeth fused her power in them, which must have meant that the dark hallway was made after they left. Indicating something else was down here.

Elizabeth pushed the hallway aside from her mind as she walked up to the black and gold ironed gate that was held together by a lock. There was no key to the lock, instead it required magic to be unlocked. Aslan himself made this lock for the five during the third year of their reign, to ensure that no one but the five could enter this room. Elizabeth was the only one that could actually unlock the gate though considering she was the only one with the sorcery abilities to unlock the chamber.

Her eyes turned red as she prepared to unlock and felt a huge surge of power coming from the gate, only it wasn't hers. The iron gate looked different too, the very top of the gate kind of bent at an odd angle with terrible grey streaked scratch marks and Elizabeth frowned as she examined it. "Someone tried to break in," she concluded as she looked at the gate and turned to face the others with her red eyes.

Susan picked up a rock at the bottom of the stair case and showed it to everyone. The tan rock had visible black streaks etched into it. "It looks like someone tried to beat the gate open," Susan observed frowning at the rock.

Elizabeth then turned her attention back to the gate. Perhaps the rock was one method of breaking in, but Elizabeth couldn't deny the surge of power coming from the gate. Whoever tried to break in also tried to use magic on the gate to open it. Then, Elizabeth started preparing to unlock the gate. As she looked at the lock she began to concentrate hard on it. The lock glowed red as did Elizabeth's hands as she focused on it. She twiddled her fingers and practically stopped breathing until after a few moments of concentrating the lock popped open.
