I greeted Delia as soon as she entered the castle, giving her a big hug.

“I missed you.” She smiled, nodding in agreement.

“Let me put my stuff up and I’ll meet you down here so we can talk?” I nodded this time.

She walked away and I waited for Cedric who just happened to walk in. A huge smile spread across his face the moment he saw me. He made his way over to me, wrapping his arms around me. I smiled into his chest, taking in his scent. I hadn’t realized how much I missed it.

“Quendie, I’ve been thinking.” Oh no, this doesn’t sound good.

“About what?” I looked up at him.

“I thought it over during the break and I want you to be my girlfriend, officially.” My heart skipped a beat. Girlfriend? Me?

“Yes, of course.” He leaned down and kissed me, his lips pressed hard against mine. Cedric and I were official; boyfriend and girlfriend. As happy as I was, I couldn’t help but feel a slight pain at the thought of telling Draco.

I sent Draco a letter asking to meet in the astronomy tower that night and as soon as everyone was asleep I snuck out and made my way to meet him. I entered the classroom, Draco standing at the front of the classroom, a smirk on his face.

“I’m not used to you asking to meet me, but I think I like it.” He started walking towards me, but I held up my hand in protest.

“Draco, I need to tell you something.” He paused, his smirk faltering slightly.

“Nothing bad I hope.” He closed the gap between us before I could protest again. His arm snaked around my waist, pulling me into his chest.

“Draco, I came here to tell you-“I was interrupted by his lips crashing into mine. My mind went blank and I couldn’t help but get caught up in the kiss. He pulled away, leaving me wanting more.

“Now, what was it you wanted to say?” What? I was saying something? My mind raced to remember what I had met up with him to say. Then, it hit me and my stomach dropped.

“I have a boyfriend.” his eyes flashed something that looked like disappointment.

“And I have a girlfriend, so what’s the problem?”

“I don’t want to screw this up, Draco.” His grip loosened.

“I guess I can respect that. I’m not saying I agree, but if that’s what you want.” He let go completely. I stepped back, taking in everything. He was actually being nice. I needed to get out of there before he changed his mind, or I changed mine.

“I guess this is goodbye.” I said, taking another step towards the door.

“Goodbye Quendie.” He stayed in the same spot. I left quickly, hurrying down the stairs and back to my room. I was more than happy to be with Cedric, but I couldn’t help but feel some strange regret leaving Draco. But that was something I would have to get over because Cedric was definitely the better choice. Plus, the next task was coming up and Cedric needed my support, even though he was amazing all by himself, but I wanted to be there for him.

Cedric spent his free time preparing for the upcoming task which he figured out was finding something in the lake and having to be under water for an hour. I grew more and more nervous for him as the day approached and the day before, I was a nervous wreck. I sat in Transfigurations, class being the last thing on my mind.

“Ms. Pierce.” I looked up, McGonagall staring back at me with a concerned look on her face. “Do you have somewhere better to be?” I shook my head. “Then I’d appreciate you being here.”

I tried as hard as could to pay attention for the last hour of class, but it was nearly impossible. I kept thinking of Cedric drowning or some kind of monster in the lake eating him. Everyone stood up as class was dismissed and I couldn’t have been happier to leave. “Ms. Pierce, can I see you for a moment?” I sighed, everyone already gone. I walked over to her, expecting her to say I was failing or in trouble for not paying attention, but she didn’t say anything. All I saw was a flash of scarlet and then nothing.

I couldn’t tell you what happened next because I was unconscious, but all I know is what I heard from other people.
