My mom sent a dress she found downtown. The minute I opened the package I knew it was going to be a great night. The dress was black A-line top with a light pink skirt and a beaded sash around the waist. Along with the dress was a pair of black heels that looked like they would hurt, but I didn’t care. I was too excited to be going; I was too excited to be going with Cedric. The thought of his name put a smile on my face. Tomorrow night I would be dancing with Cedric, having the time of my life; there was no way I would be able to sleep.

The night of the ball I took my time getting ready, putting on my makeup perfectly and doing my hair just right. I curled my normally wavy hair and let it hang loose down my back. I clipped it out of my face with a barrette my mom had sent with the dress. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. I looked just how I had imagined and I’d only hoped Cedric thought the same. Too bad Delia was nowhere to be found. I was hoping for one last pep talk before going to the dance.

I walked down to the Great Hall, smiling as I spotted Cedric standing by the entrance. I walked over to him, his eyes lighting up as he saw me. I nearly melted at the sight of him in his dress robes. He looked HOT.

“You look amazing.” He said, grabbing my hand and kissing it lightly.

“You do, too.” I blushed. He led me inside, everyone stopping and staring at us as we took our seats at the Champions table. The Great Hall was pure white and you couldn’t help but feel you were in a winter wonderland. We sat for a few minutes as people wandered in, taking their seats. Ron walked in with some girl I’d never seen before and he didn’t look too happy about it. Fluer took her seat at the Champions table with Roger Davies.

Harry walked in and I felt a huge smile spread across my face. Delia held his hand, wearing a deep purple one shoulder dress that fit her perfectly. She hurried over to us, sitting next to me.

“So this is why you’ve been so secretive lately?” I whispered.

“I wanted to surprise you.” She smiled.

“Well, I was definitely surprised. So, when did he ask you?”

“Last week.” Our conversation was cut short as Viktor walked in, Hermione holding his hand. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared, not so much in surprise, but more in awe of how beautiful Hermione looked. I even noticed how red Ron got as she passed. We all knew he liked her, he just needed to admit it to himself. Tonight was going to be an interesting night. Delia looked excited to be with Harry, Hermione was with the guy all the girls wished they could be with and Ron looked miserable as he watched Viktor and Hemione. I could hardly wait to see what would happen.

The night started with each teacher making a speech about how amazing their Champions were and how this Triwizard Tournament would be a good one. Then it was time to dance. The Champions had to open the floor by being the first to dance, which meant the entire Great Hall would be watching us. Cedric stood up, holding out his hand for me; I took it, standing up and walking with him to the floor. The other Champions joined us, Delia giving me a supportive smile as we took our positions.

“Don’t worry, we’ll go slow.” Cedric whispered in my ear. I smiled, my knees growing weaker. The music started and Cedric led, moving effortlessly. I followed him and my anxiousness eased. He was such a good dancer that I couldn’t help but feel at ease. As soon as it started, it was overt and the rest of the students joined us.

We danced for what must’ve been hours before we sat down.

“Do you want something to drink?” Cedric asked standing up.

“Yes please.” He smiled, kissing me on the cheek then left. The butterflies in my stomach started fluttering and I could feel myself blushing.

“Having fun?” I jumped and turned to smile at Delia who looked just as happy as I did.

“Yes! And you?” her smile grew ever bigger.

“Of course.” Cedric came back and handed me my drink. I took a sip, smiling up at him. Delia patted me on the back and left. A slow song came on and we began dancing again. Cedric wrapped his arms around my waist and I wrapped mine around his neck, resting my head against his chest.

“I’m glad you came with me.” He said softly.

“I’m glad you asked.” We smiled at each other. Our faces grew closer and closer, our lips brushing each other before connecting. My legs nearly gave out as we kissed, the only thing keeping me up was my grip on Cedric.

“Hey you two!” we broke apart, McGonagall coming towards us.

“Come on!” Cedric grabbed my hand and led me out of the Great Hall and around the corner. We stopped and listened and when we were sure no one was coming after us, we burst into laughter.

“That was a close one.” Cedric said, his hand still holding mine. He turned to me, taking my other hand in his and pushing me against the wall. He pressed his body against mine, connecting our lips again.

Suddenly he stopped, pulling away. I looked at what had caught his attention and my heart sank. Draco looked back at us. He looked handsome in his dress robes and his hair slicked back and Pansy looked plain. A green dress and nothing done to her hair with a disgusted look on her face, but Draco looked almost hurt. Cedric wrapped an arm around my waist and Pansy rolled her eyes, grabbing Draco’s hand and leading him away.

I turned back to Cedric, kissing him again.

“I have to go.” He smiled, kissing me again. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” He nodded, kissing my hand. I walked away, my heart racing and my legs shaking.

The night may have ended before the dance was over, but it was one of the most amazing nights ever.
