Encouragment For Writers- Troll Readers Who Demand Updates

Okay there's a phenomenon on Wattpad where you have readers who do not vote or comment on the contents of the story, but slide either in your dms, wall or on in your comments demanding an update.

If you are a writer and experience this, the first thing I would do is check for receipts.

I had never did this before until the other day, but somebody made a rude comment on a chapter referring to the fact they were mad it wasn't an update. I know for a fact that I haven't updated the way I should have on this book, I've explained my reasons a million times.

So I decided to look at their page to see in fact, before I responded were they a loyal reader. Because I am a very reader oriented writer, meaning I try to compensate my readers as best as possible and I understand the frustration sometimes.

People who know me as a writer, know this. I'm never rude. If you DM me I try to respond, whether it's telling me great work or even with your personal problems.

But one thing as writer I will not tolerate is giving into the demands of trolls, who are only hear to secretly browse but not support.

So I looked at the person's page to see if they were just a frustrated loyal reader (because I have those and I know y'all want to an update).  Come to find out she was not.

I looked at her activity tab. This tabs lets you know every book that someone has voted for and commented on. While there were votes for other books and even comments on other books, the last activity pertaining to my book was a "stale face" they left on a chapter back on July 1, for me apologizing to the readers for not updating.

It's September, I've updated since then, before that  its one from June 19 - saying I haven't' updated.. There's not a single thing before that and I scrolled back to April.

To the trolls out there who don't vote or comment, yet silently read, you have no standing to demand, be rude or tell me what I should or should not do with my books. Your lack of activity in regards to support does not make you a loyal reader, but a troll.

Writing is an extremely hard thing to do, especially when you are not doing it for monetary benefit, and it is disrespectful to writers and loyal readers that you feel you can silently read and not support, yet state your unruly opinion when you feel someone isn't updating.

I'm not here for it and from now on I will be checking receipts. If you don't comment or at least vote, don't slide in my dms, wall or comments asking for an update. That person is the last and only person that will ever get a response from me.

Good day. ✌️

And to my loyal readers who actual respond and support, I don't mind you giving me a shove for an update every now and then.

I updated Life After Marriage because a kind reader who actually supports (yes I checked receipts) simply said "you've been neglecting your other books since you started Risk it all- (which is a new book you should check out. It's about uplifting my dark skin beauties and j. Cole is in it for his fans.)

Reading her message I decided to update and I will update tonight for my loyals. I love each and everyone of you and if you've been rocking  with me for a long time, you already knew that. 😘
