Chapter 48

"Sally and Arin are here." Matt called out to me.
I glanced one last time in the mirror and walked hurriedly out.
"You guys are the first here." I said.
Matt had invited everyone around because he wanted to let them know about our engagement, but I couldn't wait, I grabbed Sally's arm.
"Can I have a word?" I whispered to her as Matt and Arin headed out the back.
"Sure." She said turning to me. "What's up?"
I held up my left hand and she looked at it.
Her eye's widened. "He did not."
"He did."
She grabbed my hand, looking at the ring. "Oh my god Gabby."
"I know."
"You said yes right?"
"Of course I said yes."
She grabbed me, hugging me hard. "This is wonderful."
"We're trying to, you know." I said softly.
"No. What?" She asked, pulling back to look at me.
"A baby."
"Fuck off. Matt wants a baby?"
I nodded.
"Oh my god." She screeched, hugging me again. "I'm so happy for you. God Gabby you deserve this."
"I'm so happy Sally."
"I'm glad."
"Are you two coming out?" Matt called.
Sally hugged me again and we walked out the back.
"She told you right?" Matt said to Sally.
She nodded, smiling.
Matt looked at me, raising his eyebrows.
"Sorry."
He put his arm around me and pulled me close. "It's fine."
"Tell who what?" Arin asked.
"They're engaged." Sally blurted.
We were interrupted by the door bell and Matt went to let them in.
Everyone gradually arrived and I was talking with Holly when Sally came over, grabbing my arm.
"What the fuck is he doing with her?" She hissed.
I looked over to see Zack walking in with Kate of all people.
"Maybe she's going through every member." I told her.
"If she goes near Arin I'll slit her throat."
"Who is she?" Holly asked.
"That right there is the perfect example of a slut Holly."
Holly looked shocked. "What do you mean?"
Before Sally could say anything Matt started talking.
"Can I have everyone's attention." He said loudly, waving me over.
I walked to his side and he smiled at me, putting his arm around my waist.
"I just wanted to let you all know that on the weekend I proposed to Gabrielle."
"What?" Kate said loudly.
"She said yes." Matt said ignoring her.
I watched Zack say something quietly to Kate.
Everybody came over congratulating us, well except Kate, she glared at me.
"Congratulations." Brian said hugging me. "Gabby, I didn't think you wanted to get married." He said softly.
"No Brian, you didn't want to get married." I told him.
"I would have married you." He murmured.
I felt an arm slip around my waist, thank goodness it was Matt.
"You okay?" He asked me.
I smiled at him, nodding. "Absolutely."
"You okay?" He asked Brian.
"Yeah, look congratulations guys, honestly Matt you're really lucky."
"I know." Matt told him.
I was happy at the way everyone had taken the news, nobody had seemed surprised, well except Kate and Brian, but that hadn't surprised me.
"So." Sally asked me later on in the night. "Have you set a date?"
"Not yet." I told her. "I haven't really thought about it."
"Too busy concentrating on making a mini Matt?" She asked laughing.
"Something like that." I said, looking over at him.
He smiled at me and I walked over, I was drawn to him and only ever felt right if I was with him
"What are you doing?" He asked when I reached his side.
"Nothing, what are you doing?"
He leant down and kissed me softly. "Wishing everyone would leave."
I smiled. "Soon."
He kissed my forehead and pulled me close. I looked up and straight into Kates eyes.
She was glaring at me and there was something in her eyes that unsettled me.
I suddenly felt scared.
