now in my present
i blinked
and here you are
it's almost so surreal
like a vivid dream in the summer nights
just like the ones i imagined with you
the present
living in it now with you
it's both scary and so beautiful
the beauty almost clouds my fear
my fear of losing you
when i'm so close to being with you
no secrets
no one else
just us
i'm all about you
i knew it was you the moment i left us in the past
i knew it was you the moment you looked into my eyes
in the present
i mourned who i lost
now i'm falling for you
it's not messy
i'm not confused
i don't second guess
i'm not retracing my steps
i'm forging a path
so you and i can walk on it together
my insecurities
my fears
my worries
all melt away when you look me in my eyes
when you hold my hand when i drive
the times you sing so sweetly to me
i hold onto that
onto you
because if being in the present with you is all i have
i'm going to take every moment of it
i'm going to make sure you know my love for you never died
and i'm going to make sure
i swear i will
that you know i've fallen in love with you all over again
