{CHUUYA'S POV}

I was driving my motorbike back to the Kanagawa Cancer Center, the hospital Moriko was in, because I had gotten a call from Anee-san saying he had woken up.

It was around nine in the morning so the air was still kinda cold from last night.

It had been a week since he was admitted so him waking up had made me worry about him less.

*****

I was rushing down the corridors to see him and immediately pushed down the knob leading to his room to open the door.

"Anee-san!" I panted, my hands holding onto my knees from the running.

"Chuu.. ya.?" Moriko's voice had called to me.

My head had jolted up to look at him and I saw his oxygen-mask-having-head looking towards me with his arm hanging from the edge of his bed.

"Riko!" I called, running towards him.

"Are you oka-"
"What happened.?"
"Long story."
"Where am.. I.?"
"Kanagawa Cancer Center."
"Cancer.?"
"Yes."

*****

Me and JiJi were soon left alone by all the doctors and nurses, and even Anee-san.

"So.. I have stage four of lung cancer?" He asked me. His voice was sorta raspy, honestly.

"Yeah." I answered him, trying so hard not to cry into his shoulder. I didn't wanna hurt him.

"Well, since there isn't really a cure then I guess I'll have to accept my fate."

"What?!"

*****

{NARRATOR'S POV}

Moriko had explained why he was accepting his fate of dying.
He knew that even if it would hurt Chuuya, he also knew that the truth would hurt.

"Dazai told you this once... Didn't he?" Chuuya inquired.

"No. I knew this before he did." Moriko told him.
"In fact, I was his mentor after Mori had gotten busy with mafia work."

"And you never told me?"
"Oh please. I did tell you."
"Did not!"
"Did to."

"Well.. What would you wanna do while you're still alive?" Chuuya finally asked.

"I don't know." Moriko claimed.

"What's that one thing you've always wanted to do?"

"I guess..."

*****

A month had passed after Moriko had woken up and was discharged from the Cancer Center after two weeks.

Moriko and Chuuya were out in the Yokohama Park on a fine autumn day in August.

The two were sitting on a bench, watching as nature prepared itself to rest for the winter.

"Neh, Riko.." Chuuya uttered, looking at the children playing in front of them.

"Yeah?" Moriko asked.

"Never mind." Chuuya sighed. "It's not important anyway."

"Okay then." The taller ginger said.

"Wanna go to Niiharu?"
"The civil forest?"
"Yeah."
"As in the one that our parents used to take us to?"
"Mhm."

Chuuya's face had lightened up as if he had received the one thing he had always wanted most. He looked honestly childish.

"Let's go!" He beamed gleefully.

"Alright, alright." The azure-eyed male spoke, his arm being dragged along by the shorter one.

He got his arm away from Chuuya and opened his hand, facing a tree that's leaves were turning brown and falling.

A branch had glowed green as Moriko's hand did as well and grew to be long.

One end of the branch had reached down onto the floor as if it were to be turned into something they could sit on.

"Come on." Moriko spoke, sitting onto the extended tree branch.

"Are you sure this is safe?"
"When have you started caring about things being safe?"
"Fine I'll get on."

Chuuya sat down hesitantly on the branch, holding the surrounding sides tight as if he were to hold on for his own life.

The branch started to get lifted up into the air and it startled the short hat rack.

"It'll be faster transportation like this." The tall man said, his long, cognac coloured hair swaying in the wind as he fixed his mask.

"Oi! Hold onto the thing!" Chuuya exclaimed, scared that his brother would fall.

"Are you scared I'll fall?" The masked male mocked.

"Yeah!" The petite mafioso spoke.

"Well then, too bad." The chain-belted male snarled at him, standing up onto the branch.

"I've done this several times."

*****

They had reached Niiharu and climbed off the branch, Chuuya still trembling from either the adrenaline or the fear.

"Jesus Christ, you've become  a coward." The older mocked.

"Shut it!" The younger shouted in embarrassment.

Chuuya needed to make sure his older brother's remaining lifespan would be the best he'd ever have.
