Chapter 17

At Naveen's Base

"Damn it. What is wrong with you both? Ek call ya ek message karne mein kitna waqt lagta hai? You guys are just unbelievable." Raj was livid. He was trying to conatct Naveen and Gunny but was unable to do so.

"Ab but ban ke kyun khada hai? And where are Gunny and Ria? Is she alright? Bol na." Raj was now getting impatient. But one look at Naveen's face was enough to tell him that something was definitely wrong. 

"Navu, you are scaring me now. Bol. Sab thik hai na?"

"I failed Raj." Naveen whispered in a small voice.

"What do you mean?"

"I am useless. Mere zinda rehne ka koi matlab nahi agar main apni behen ko bacha na saku. Itne saal usne meri kalai par rakhi bandhi ki main uski raksha karunga. Par mujhsenbura bhai is duniya mein koi nahi Raj... koi bhi nahi...." Naveen fell on his knees and started sobbing.

Raj immediately reached him and asked, "Navu, bata kya hua hai? Aisi bakwas kyun kar raha hai? Sab thik hai na? Ria thik hai na? Bol bhai." Raj tried to coax the truth out of him.

"Dekh Navu. Sambhal khud ko yar. Tu akela nahi hai na ab, main bhi hu na. Tera yaar yahi na. Apne yaar ko nahi batayega?"

"Ria is fine Raj." Naveen managed to say.

"Then what are you....." Rajveer paused. Now, realising the meaning of Naveen's words.

"Naveen.... tell me what happened?" Raj said, dead serious.

Naveen knew it was pointless to hide from Rajveer.

"Alekh ko jo call gaya tha, it was a trap Raj. It was trap." And Naveen again went silent.

"Aage bol Navu. Please."

"Alekh was trapped into believing that Ria was in danger, same as us. On the way, he....."

"He what Naveen????" Raj was on his feet immediately.

"He met an accident. Ab Alekh is in one room with all kinds of machines and tubes attached to him. Naina too, suffered from a concussion and is resting in another room. Ria, is sitting beside Alekh and crying her eyes out. And I... I being a useless brother, am sitting here on the ground."

Raj slid down the wall and sat next to Naveen, now completely silent.

Both the friends sat sitting in shock and grief for half an hour. Both dealing with the pain of not being able to protect the ones they love.

"Naveen..."

Naveen looked at Rajveer, completely tired.

"Let's get out of this hiding period. I don't care, now."

"Raj, feelings apni jagah hai par desh ke aage hum apne emotions kaise rakh sakte hain? humare hath bandhe hain, warna tujhe kya lagta hai apni behen ko is haal mein dekh kar kya kabhi mere man mein ye khyal nahi aaya?" Naveen said helplessly.

"Then, we need to find an alternative. Let's use every single bit of our resource."

"What are you planning Raj?" Naveen was now concerned for Rajveer, as he did not react in any way. Instead, he was actually calm.

"Mujhe un informers as well as spies ke family members ke poore details chahiye."

"Raj, pagal hai kya? Un mein aur hum mein koi farq nahi bachega. Don't forget, Indian Army never targets the innocent civilians."

"I know Navu. But jab tak ye log jalenge nahi.... inhe samajh nahi ayega ki jalne ka dard hota kya hai."

"Matlab?"

"In logo ki tarah janwar nahi hai hum. But right from the first rays of tomorrow morning, I want a family member of each of these spies in our captivity?"

"What???????????" Naveen yelled.

"Raj, pagal mat ban. Don't take rash decisions."

"I am completely in my senses. Bring them to an unknown facility. Keep them there. If they cooperate after knowing the truth, then that's more better."

Naveen was in deep thoughts. Then, he eventually realised what Raj wqas trying to do.

"Raj, you mean to say ki we need to weaken their spy network."

"Exactly. Agar 200 spies bhi hain, to unme se mushkil se 20-30 mein itni himmat hogi ki apne parivar ko apne maksad ke liye qurban kar sake. But the rest..... they'll back off."

"You are right. Ab tak hum inhe dhundh rahe the. Ab ye chuhe khud apne parivar ko dhundhne ke liye bil se niklenge." Naveen caught up with Rajveer's plan.

"Yes. And jis tarah se illegal kaam ye kar rahe hein, they will not be able to ask for help from the police or army. Hence, they'll pressurise their boss. Dekhte hein, inka ye boss kitno ke parivar ko protection deta hai."

"Or jab wo mana karega ya protection nahi de payega, they, themselves will stop following their orders. Koi na koi in mein baagi hoga hi. Bas use bahar nikalna padega." Naveen claimed.

"Fir apne parivar ke liye ye info bhi denge or surrender bhi karenge."

 "They wanted to play it dirty right? Bola tha.... agar mere cadets par aanch bhi aayi to in logo apne jeene ka bhi dukh hoga... But no, you attacked my Cadets.... you attacked my Naina. Wo ladki, jo mujhe maut ke muh se kheench laayi, aaj use maut ke muh dhakelne ki koshish kar rahe hein ye log. Just wait and watch now." Raj muttered to himself.

In KMA

"Ab to jo hoga, so hoga. Par ab, they have literally entered the lion's den" Yudi said, clearly angry by the current situation.

"Pooja ji, hum hospital nikal rahe hein. Aap..."

"Oye ja mere Ranjhe. Desh sabse upar hai. Yahan hum log sab sambhal lenge."

"Ali, keep informed about every single thing that's happening. I'll contact my friends to increase the security and provide all the necessary help." Shalini said.

"The game is officially on. Ab to saalo ko dhundh dhundh ke maarenge." Yudi said.

"Captains, I want each and every one of you in my cabin at 0600 hours sharp. This is getting out of our hands. I just want to say that..... consider this condition as the official declaration of war against unknown enemies. Therefore, aaj se, aap in conditions ko normal investigation nahi balki war conditions ki tarah deal karenge."
