"You gotta walk fast," I said, pulling Will's hand as we walked into Everwood Grange.

"I know. I proposed catching fireflies, but how will we do that in this stinky, old barn?" Will asked, and I glared at him.

"You've got to be kidding me! I would have taken you to a great diner. We could drink wine, talk sloppy and then head back to my penthouse." Will complained as we stood in the middle of the corn farms.

The wind blew gently across the fields, and the farm lights illuminated the path as we walked hand in hand. I found Will glancing at the surroundings as we walked deeper into the corn fields.

"They say the deeper you go, the better the chances of spotting them," I said, waiting for him to come with a knee-jerk response.

Silence. I found Will wasn't by my side. I turned around to see him smiling by himself.

"What are you doing over there?" I scoffed at him.

"Enjoying the view," Will said, standing at a distance. His eyes moved from my eyes to my front and my legs, and I grew conscious of myself.

"If we don't walk deeper, we won't be able to see any fireflies, let alone catch them!" I said, and he pouted, walking towards me. His fingers rubbed the back of his head, and I raised my eyebrow at him.

The barn was silent except for a few crickets in the fields. The City-line was barely visible at the horizon, and I tried focusing on Will's eyes as he stood in front of me, smiling the most infectious smile.

"Wait." He said and pulled out his phone from his pocket. He scrolled and then hit the screen gently.

'When your legs don't work as they used to before,

And I can't sweep you off your feet,

Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love,

Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?'

The music poured in, and I could feel my eyes moisten as Will took my hand in his. He twirled me around, following my every move.

Will pulled me closer,  resting his hand on my waist and the other entwined with my palm. I kept my hand on his shoulder, and he smiled.

"Darling, I will

Be loving you til we're 70,

And baby, my heart will still fall as hard at 23."

Will sang along with Ed Sheeran. As we waltz slowly to 'Thinking Out Loud'...

I couldn't help but notice that it was a full-moon night, and Will's eyes shined.

'And I am thinking about how,

People fall in love in mysterious ways,

Maybe with the touch of a hand,

Oh, me I just fall in love with you every single day,

And I just wanna tell you I am.'

We swayed a little more. Will moved his hands to my lower back, and I couldn't help but blush.

"Hey." He whispered in my ear as I rested my head on his chest.

"Hey," I said, and he kissed my hair.

"I have been meaning to tell you this." He said, and I could feel my heart flutter. Say it, please. I have been dying to hear it again.

"It's four important words," Will said, and our eyes met.

"Say it," I whispered, my eyes not leaving his.

"I love-" He said, gulping a lump as his Adam's apple quaked.

"Yes?" I said, looking into the wild, grey irises.

"I love your shampoo." He said with a grin, and my face dropped.

"Why, you cocky little-" I said, slapping off his arm when his lips closed on mine. My fingers buried into his hair as he breathed love into my lungs.

"I love you, Eva." He said, and tears slid down my cheeks.

"I love-" I said, and I could feel a terrible snitch tickling my nose. I pulled myself out of his arms.

"I love-" I tried saying the word, and Will eyed me suspiciously. The twitch in my nose grew stronger.

"Eva, are you okay?" He asked worriedly, when I covered my nose with my palm.

"Achoo-Achoo!" I sneezed erratically, and Will stared at me wide-eyed.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" Will said, dropping too many fuckbombs together that I couldn't decide whether I was sneezing too quick or he was speaking too quick. The world blurred in my eyes.

"Amaranth!" Will yelled, and he carried me in his arms.

Oh God, no! Not here. Had I known there would be Amaranth!

"Hang in there, Eva!" Will said as the whole world spun in my head. I was feeling nauseated. I could feel the car leather under my skin as my body ached from the absence of Will's touch. For obvious reasons, they are these obnoxious weeds, and I am allergic to fucking Amaranth.

"Blergh!" I couldn't see what was happening, but Will pulled up a barf bag near my mouth. Now, I was throwing up. In his car. I cried, and to say it was because of the allergy would be wrong. I didn't get to say 'I love you' to Will.

By the time the car was moving again, I had lost count of how many times I had thrown up. I ruined our second first date.
