Chapter 36.2 : Behold the flower through red clouds, A heart filled with pity (I)

Hua Hua's Real Form

At the sight of Lang Qian Qiu, Xie Lian and Shi Qing Xuan both buried their faces in their hands.

Said officials in the room also copied their on-screen self, burying their faces in their hands in annoyance and frustration. Hearing this, Qian Qiu flinched and unconsciously moved away from the two, not wanting to be scolded or something.

'How nostalgic.' he thought, remembering his guoshi who would do the same when he did something his teacher considered foolish. He quickly shook off the thought. 'I can't believe I'm thinking about that traitor right now.'

Xie Lian gave a low groan, "......my lord Wind Master, did...... you not tell him...... that we have to be more careful here, and not draw attention to ourselves......"

"I...... I did," Shi Qing Xuan muttered back helplessly. "But...... this is just how he is...... there's nothing I can do about it...... if I had known earlier...... we should have just met up with him before coming down here......"

"We should have done that instead." Qing Xuan groaned in annoyance. "Why did my future self believe that kid over there won't make a mess of things."

"Hey, I am not a kid!" Qian Qiu huffed before quieting when he saw Xie Lian sigh at his direction.

'He...he reminds me of guoshi.' Qian Qiu thought with a sad look before it turned into anger and finally calm. 'No, he isn't guoshi.'

"I understand...... I understand......"

Behind the curtains, Hua Cheng laughed softly.

Xie Lian's heart gave a worried thump.

"Is it really a worried thump or a lov-ack!" Pei Ming groaned when Wu Du bonked his head, hard.

"Stop with your dirty thoughts!" Wu Du hissed.

"How do you know what he was thinking, though?" Ling Wen said which made Wu Du flustered as Pei Ming smirked.

During the days spent by Xie Lian's side, the youth had laughed often. Xie Lian could pretty much tell by now when he was being sincere, when he was being snide, and when he was feeling murderous.

"That sounds creepy." Mu Qing bluntly said which made Xie Lian a little flustered while Hua Cheng smirk.

Hua Cheng drawled, "You enter my territory, yet dare to cause a ruckus. Aren't you a gutsy one?"

Lang Qian Qiu turned his gaze over to Hua Cheng, his eyes scintillating as he demanded, "You own this gambling house?"

"...Are you stupid?" Qi Rong asked with a mocking tone after staring at Qian Qiu in deadpan for  a few moments. "Who else will dare sit in such a lavish place?"

"YOU!" Qian Qiu shouted but didn't continue when Jun Wu looked at him.

The ghosts gathered around began sneering at him. "This foolish child thinks too highly of himself. Do you even know who you're speaking with? This is the master of our city."

Some of them laughed grimly and added, "It's not just this gambling house. The entire Ghost City belongs to him!"

"You have such loyal followers, San Lang." Xie Lian praised which made Hua Cheng smile.

"En." he agreed with a proud smile, knowing that it was true. He might have a bad reputation but the citizens of Ghost City loved him and he cared for them, even if a little.
