Friday sucked. Tremendously.

Not the AI, she was great and Peter enjoyed the alarm she picked for him, as dreadful as it was to be woken up with, but like the day.

Friday the Day sucked.

"Heya kiddo" Tony greeted as Peter strolled into the room, flipping over a pancake while he sat down.

"Mornin sir" Peter's head was down on the counter, looking exhausted.

Tony pressed his lips together, recalling some of the advice he'd gotten from the parenting classes.

"Looks like you had a rough night. What's up?" He asked, placing the final pancake on a plate stacked with them and turning off the heat.

He sat down next to Peter, who just gave a heavy sigh before continuing.

"Just.. school.." his muffled voice came, not moving from his position.

"you've been having such a great week, Peter. What happened?" Tony put his arm around the kid, doubting that school would be something that'd bring Peter down this much.

Peter remained still for a moment, his fingers tapping on the counter in front of him.

"Had a bad dream" he uttered, lifting his head.

Peter's eyes were red, and if Tony had seen him sooner he would've probably known immediately.

He was thankful Peter told him, because damn that kid had some skill in making things seem fine, Tony might've just let him walk out if he'd insisted.

Tony dragged him in for a hug. Peter breathed in deeply, but returned it nonetheless.

"Wanna talk about it?" Tony asked, not ending the hug, "you don't have to if you don't want to".

He knew how hit and miss nightmares were for conversations, and he wouldn't blame Peter for not wanting to actually speak about it. Yes, it might make him feel better, but it also might keep it on his mind all day.

"..mostly just May stuff" Peter closed his eyes in the embrace, not ready to have his face out in the open longer than he needed.

In all truths, it was mostly May stuff. It was the sort of things his aunt did on bad nights. Just.. different faces.

Peter didn't want to think about it, because even though by now he knew that wasn't something that just happened, he felt he should be walking on eggshells for the next few days just in case.

With who? It didn't matter. Not anyone he saw on a daily basis at least.

"I'm sorry to hear that" Tony whispered, letting his head rest on Peter's.

Peter nodded, refusing to cry before school started so his eyes wouldn't swell up and all that. They soon split apart, Tony giving him a sympathetic smile, and ate their pancakes.

They had some conversation about the robot Peter was building, and how Mr Harrington had taken them out into the hallway to experiment with the laws of friction by pushing each other around on a circular sled and seeing how long they would go without being pushed on different surfaces.

Peter was certain he did it for fun, since he got quite a few of the turns, but he didn't really care because he had fun too.

Tony talked about some ideas for webs he thought Peter would like, skillfully steering Peter's suspicions away from the possibility of a new suit in the near future. It was  brought up as a fun lab project the two of them could work on once he was allowed out again.
