Chapter 7

“Harry!?” Liam yelled up the stairs.

“I’m coming, Liam!” A deep voice replied from the upper level.

My stomach did a flip flop when I saw Harry at the top of the stairs. I grimaced, and Liam laughed when he saw my face. Harry slowly bounced down the stairs, brown curls flopping over his eyes. He was wearing black jeans with a navy blue t-shirt, and his eyes locked with mine as he came closer.

His presence alone made me feel self conscious, and I was taken aback by the effect the curly-haired boy had on me so quickly. The littlest thing he did bothered me; pushed my buttons. I knew he knew it by the smirk he had on his face when he came to a stop in front of me.

“Hey, there.” He greeted me, but he didn’t come any closer. He licked his already-pink, plump lips.

Not that I wanted him to, but I thought he would throw himself at me. I just expected it from him because of his flirtatious personality. It seemed in his nature. Something inside of me wanted him to touch me; I wanted to see my own reaction. It was a different kind of feeling, having someone make such an impact on me; I didn’t know how to react, so I pushed him away and told myself I hated him.

And I did. He bothered me. Plain and simple.

“Hi.” I muttered, avoiding his stare.

“How is your car?” He seemed genuinely concerned.

“It’s fine.” My voice was bland and empty. Why did he care so much about a piece of damn metal?

Harry just nodded, flipping his brown curls and put his hands in his pockets.

“To the kitchen?” Liam said suddenly when no words were spoken.

“Yeah, sure,” Harry told him, and left the room. He sneaked a look at me, a smile on his full lips before he walked away.

Liam and I weren’t far behind him, walking side by side. I could tell Liam and I was going to be close friends. I really liked him. He was extremely good looking, but I didn’t normally make that a priority.  I smiled at the brunette, he returned it. “So, do you live alone?” I said to make conversation.

“Yes, but most of the time my girlfriend -Danielle- stays with me.” He explained.

“Oh. I hope I get to meet her.”  I grinned and playfully nudged his shoulder and then he smiled, but it quickly faded.

“Where are the Cheetos?” I heard Niall complain when Liam and I got to the kitchen.

“To the left, mate,” Harry said and slapped Niall upside the head. “Don’t eat all my food!”

“No promises.” Niall grinned evilly, and sat down at the table, where Louis, Zayn, Harry, Liam and I joined him.

I sat next to Zayn and Harry. Harry kept staring at me, and I couldn’t help but feel goose bumps. I finally gave in and looked back at him, and I couldn’t help but notice how attractive he was. When his eyes met my own, his features softened and a smile grew on his full pink lips. His dimples gave him a cute look, but at the same time they were hot.

No! One part of myself screamed. You will not like Harry.

I don’t, but it isn’t my fault he’s so attractive. Another part said.

I was slightly frustrated with Harry for making me so confused. Yes, I thought Harry was hot, but I didn’t like his personality all that much.

“Let’s watch a movie, yeah?” Louis said casually. We all nodded.

“How about the ‘Avengers’?” I recommended. I loved that movie. Harry smiled at me and everyone else gave me a surprised look. “What? I love that movie,” I defended myself.

“I’ll get the food!” Niall volunteered, running to the fridge. Harry groaned.

“I’ll put the movie in,” Zayn told us, and headed to the family room with Liam and Louis on his heels. Harry and I were left alone at the table.

“You look lovely today.” Harry smiled.

I grimaced, and looked down at my outfit of white jeans and a pink t-shirt that had a Hollister logo on it. My hair was wavy and hung over one shoulder. I had makeup on, but it was light. “Uh, thanks.” I said cautiously, but I couldn’t help but blush. “Let’s go watch the movie, okay?”

“Sure, sure,” Harry smirked and winked at me. I stared at him wide-eyed before quickly leaving the room. I heard him deeply chuckled behind me as I ran away.

What was wrong with me? I wasn’t supposed to get those feelings. 24 hours ago, I hated Harry Styles. Now, he made my heart flutter and my stomach do flips.

There was something else. For the past two years, I had felt exposed and vulnerable, like anyone could hurt me. But with Harry by my side, I felt protected, and all those feelings seemed to disappear. I didn’t know what it was, but something told me to trust him. It was weird and indescribable, something that was completely unfamiliar to me. I didn’t normally have these feeling around a boy, whether they were time.

“Here.” Harry snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked to where he was and saw him patting the spot next to him. Before I knew what I was doing, I sat next to him. Harry had a look on triumph on his face, and I blushed furiously.

Great. I didn’t know what was happening, but I certainly didn’t despise him anymore. I didn’t hate him at all, and I didn’t know what to do. No one had ever made such an impact on me. Without even intending to, Harry forced me change my outlook on him.
