Preference: Your birthday

Dan: You had just finished eating a wonderful dinner that Dan had made. “Would you like your present?” he asked. You honestly hadn’t been expecting anything— the entire day was more than enough. “Yeah, sure.” He held out his hand to you. “It wasn’t exactly something I could wrap,” he stated. You took his hand and stood up and he led the two of you back to the bedroom. You were secretly hoping that this wouldn’t lead to sex since you were stuffed from dinner and all you wanted was to curl up in a blanket. But, you were relieved when he pulled up a chair next to the piano. “Sit,” he insisted. You sat down and he took a seat next to you. Without saying anything, he began to play a few delicate notes. You loved when he played the piano. You were mesmerized as you watched his hands glide over the keys while producing such a light sound. Although, it was all over about three minutes later. He took his hands off of the keys and looked at you. “That was beautiful. What song was that?” you asked. “I, uh, I wrote that. For you,” he said shyly. You stared at him in awe and tried your best not to cry. That was the most thoughtful thing someone had ever done for you.

Phil: You woke up that morning to find a few ‘happy birthday’ texts on your phone. The one Phil sent, though, was telling you to go check Youtube. When you did, a video of Phil’s appeared, but it was one you had yet to see. It must have just been uploaded, since it still had 301+ views. The title read, Meet my girlfriend. You and Phil had been bickering over when to make your relationship public, so this announcement was a gift by itself. Not wanting to wait any longer, you pressed play. In the video, Phil was sat on his bed. “Hey guys. I have an announcement: I have a girlfriend! I know, you’re as surprised as I am. But, today’s her birthday, so I decided to make this for her. Enjoy,” he smiled. The video transitioned to little vlog-style clips the two of you had filmed while at home, and out. During some of the clips, there was text reminding you of things that had happened before and after some clips, as well as him pointing out what about you he loves. In total, the video was about fifteen minutes long, and when it ended, tears were staining your cheeks. You grabbed your phone and texted Phil. The video was absolutely wonderful thank you so much. Words can’t even describe how much I love you <3
