(Name) hid behind her older brother as Giyuu waved a stick in the air and successfully pushed the snake away and into the river.
"You try." Giyuu suggested, handing the stick to (Name) as she approached the other snake.
"Giyuu I'm scared!" Her legs were shaking as the snake hissed at her.
"I understand that. Just breath and you'll be fine."
(Name) did as told and bit her bottom lip as she swung the stick and hoisted the snake back into the river.
Her face lit up as she turned to her older brother, "I did it Giyuu! I did it!"
He smiled at her, "I knew you could."
How did things end up like this?
Giyuu glanced at his younger sister as they cuddled on the couch together. (Name) was so invested in the movie that she didn't notice her brother's eerie stares.
Giyuu gulped, not knowing how to break the news he was about to tell his dear sister. Tell her all the terrible things he has done.
(Name) was bound to find out sooner or later, might as well say it now. What was he so afraid of? What was stopping him from just telling her the truth?
Right. It's the feeling of losing someone you love. Losing them all because it's your fault and your fault alone.
(Name) was Giyuu's safe haven. He would go to her to complain about life and hope that his dear sister would make all the bad stuff go away.
Losing that safe haven is Giyuu's worst nightmare.
Without Obanai here, he may confess to the girl alone. Face his sister even if she were to leave and never come back.
He can't live on with the fact that Obanai cheated on (Name)...with non other than her own brother.
Today will be the day Giyuu will lose his safe haven.
"Hey (Name)?.." He hesitantly called out for the younger.
Humming in response, (Name) was still too invested with the movie that was playing.
"There's something I have to tell you.." Giyuu paused the movie as (Name) lowly grumbled in her seat.
"What is it?" She gave attention, that was once on the TV, now to her brother.
A lump formed in the male's throat as he stared at (Name)'s innocent look, "I-I'm sorry...I really am.." He choked as the tears began to form.
(Name) tilted her head at her brother's crying face, "What?-"
"Obanai Iguro cheated on you.." He gulped, finally saying half of the truth.
"Wait-"
"He cheated on you with me." Giyuu breathed out, the other half of the truth came out. It has been torturing him for so long.
The very words that Giyuu had just said were the very words that tortured Obanai as well. And Giyuu knew by the expression (Name) was holding, Obanai feared this look more than anything.
Shock. Pain. Fear. Hatred. All mixed together and scattered around the girl's face. This hurts Giyuu way more than it hurts (Name).
"You're...you're lying right?" She whispered, barely audible.
Everything clicked in (Name)'s head. Remembering that day.
That day when Giyuu came home with messy hair, hickeys on his shoulder, and wrinkled clothes. Having a simple hook up- who knew it was with her boyfriend.
"You slept with Obanai?"
(Name) looked down onto Giyuu's hands. The very hands that touched Obanai in a way that only she should.
She felt absolutely disgusted.
Knowing she was about to yell, Giyuu interrupted her, "I'm sorry! Please! I'm so sorry! I was so stupid, I was acting out of character that night! I've regretted it ever since, I swear!!" He cried, scared of what his sister might do.
"..Why? Why would you do that...?" She asked him, Giyuu could hear her heart break as she asked that question.
(Name) believed that her older brother would always protect her. He would never do anything that would hurt her. But he did exactly that.
"I- I was- I don't know what I was doing!- and he looked h-handsome at the time- and I just-! It just happened! I'm sorry! Please! Punch me! Beat me up! Just don't leave!!" He desperately yelled, grabbing the girl's wrist and using it to slap himself.
"Giyuu!" Surprised by the sudden action, (Name) pulled her wrist away from Giyuu and glared at him.
Giyuu rambled a bunch of apologizes and continued to tell (Name) to just hit him. To vent out all her anger out on physically hitting him. He was just so scared and confused.
(Name) suddenly let out the most disgusting shriek, like she just saw a huge bug on the floor then glared at Giyuu.
Her eyes were filled with hatred, "I can't believe you and Obanai did that! That's so disgusting!!"
Giyuu stared at her in disbelief, his body stared to shake in fear.
"I could care less about who you hook up with, but seriously?!? MY boyfriend out of all people?!! What is wrong with you?!?" She screamed.
He went silent, then he started to hyperventilate as (Name) got up and walked out of the living room and into her own. A few seconds passed by as the girl appeared again with a backpack in hand and walked towards the door.
Giyuu, who was already a sobbing mess, quickly got off the couch and ran towards his younger sister, "Please! (Name) don't leave!!" He begged, crying while holding onto her wrist.
(Name) pulled away, "How did I end up with a brother like you?"
She turned around and slammed the door shut. Giyuu fell to his knees and cried like he has never cried before.
He didn't chase after her knowing that wasn't going to change a thing. And he knew right then and there, he has lost his safe haven.
A little kid, about five years old, bumped into Giyuu leg, stumbling back. The kid looked up at Giyuu's tall figure and his eyes watered.
Giyuu was about to say something until he saw the child take a deep breath and bite his bottom lip, "I-I'm sorry M-Mister."
Giyuu just smiled and helped the child up, "Don't worry about it kid. What you did actually reminds me of my-"
"Haru!" A woman's voice called out.
Giyuu looked up as his eyes widen. There stood (Name), she looks so much more mature, his eyes watered at the sight of seeing his younger sister all grown up.
"...Giyuu.." She cleared her throat as the child ran into her legs and hugged her.
"Mommy! Do you know this man?"
(Name) stared at Giyuu for the longest time before giving the child a soft smile, "Yes, Mommy knows this man."
