-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You've noticed lately that your mood has kind of been short with everything. Maybe it's the hormones, or maybe it's just you. Whatever the case may be, you know food is always the way to fix your mood. Dean was quick to get you some before your little stakeout, so you're eating a juicy hamburger in the backseat with three more wrapped up next to you. This baby definitely loves meat since you've noticed you're eating it a lot more than usual.

Cal has led you three to a garage next to a fix-it business on the other side of town. A bunch of men are arriving in their vehicles to join Cal in whatever they are doing. Someone turns on the light, and you realize they are in a bar–or a makeshift version of one. There is a jukebox in one corner, a pool table in the middle of the room, a big bar off to the right, a dart table on the far wall, and a couple of other things. Cal gets him and his boys some alcohol, and they are drinking and having a good time.

"Boy, Cal just doesn't know when to quit," Sam comments.

"Three scuzzy bars, one scuzzy strip club, a chili-dog joint, seven or eight nightcaps, and now scotches in the library. I'm getting cirrhosis just watching this. Other than that, we got squat," Dean says.

"Let's just see."

"You're not going to find anything because Cal is not the werewolf," you say with your mouth full.

"Just eat your meat," Sam says.

You roll your eyes but do as he says.

You're not sure how long you spent in this car, but when you see the sun come up, you know it's been a long time. The backseat of the car is starting to become uncomfortable, and you huff out in annoyance when Cal and his friends are getting ready to leave back to their families at six in the fucking morning.

"The sun is up, Sam. What did I fucking tell you? He's not wolfing out."

"Well, not tonight, anyway," Sam mutters.

"Let's head back. We can re-attack this in a couple of hours," Dean declares and starts the car.

Two of Cal's friends leave at the same time you do, but you're already falling asleep in the backseat.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, looks like you were fucking right yet again because Cal is dead. You got the news when you listened to the police scanner about his death. He must have died as soon as you and the brothers left because they put his time of death at around five in the morning. It sucks you didn't get to see who did this, but you know Cal isn't a werewolf.

You're at the crime scene just as a man zips Cal's body in a body bag. Him and another man lift Cal up onto a stretcher and take him away. You cross your arms and look at Sam with a smug face.

"Told you. Next time fucking listen."

"Whatever," Sam mumbles.

"No, not whatever. Don't you ever talk to me like that again. I'm not some fucking child, and I'm certainly not yours to boss around."

"What the hell guys," Dean groans in frustration as he switches topics. "I mean, a werewolf attack in daylight? This whole thing is just weird."

"So, you know this means that we're down to one suspect, right?"

"I know," Dean sighs.

"I mean, Mandy is right at the deep end of the vic pool. Can you do it?" Sam asks, looking at both of you.

"Do what?"

"Shove her in the trunk and serve her up to Crowley."

"Okay, one, it's rude of you think we can't do it. Two, no one is touching her because it's not her. Look, I forgot to mention this the other day when Sam insulted me," you glare at him, "but Mandy and Cal are just humans. The real problem is that German Sheperd she has. That's not a dog."

"Then what is he?" Dean asks.

"I don't know, but it ain't no fucking dog that's for sure."

"Why don't we go over to her house and prove it? I say she's the werewolf."

"And I'm saying you're fucking wrong," you bite back and get in the car.

"Dude, I wouldn't test her," Dean mutters and gets in as well.

Sam doesn't say anything on the ride over to Mandy's place. She's standing outside of her house talking to another woman and her child, and Lucky is on a leash right next to her. Once he hears, sees, and smells you, he perks up and growls. Mandy looks over at you even though the woman she's with is still talking. She says her goodbyes as you three walk up to her.

"Ma'am," Dean nods.

"Agents. What are you doing here?"

"Wait, no one called you?" you ask.

"Called me about what?" she asks innocently.

"Why don't we take this inside. It's best that we do," you suggest.

She has no reason not to believe you otherwise, so she leads the way to her kitchen. Once inside, she takes off the chain around Lucky's neck so he can be loose around the house. Sam, Dean, and Mandy take a seat around the kitchen, but you choose to stand. You look at Lucky who stays in the living room, but his eyes are locked onto yours.

Dean is the one to break the news to her.

"I'm sorry. I just can't believe it," she sighs shakily.

"I'm really very sorry."

"Ma'am, I know this isn't the best time, but we'd like you to come with us," Sam jumps right into it.

"Why? You think I have something to do with this? With Cal?"

"Of course not. We just got a few questions–i's and t's, mostly," Dean chuckles.

"I, uh... could we do it later?" she asks, running her hands through her hair.

"I'm afraid not."

"Oh. Uh, my kid has the flu, um, and he was up all night, so–"

"Well, is there a neighbor or a friend who can watch him while you're gone?" Sam interrupts.

"Wait," you cut in, "your son was up all night?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Were you with him all night?" Dean asks.

"Um–uh–well, I had, um, half an hour of sleep, maybe," she stutters.

"Can I talk to your son?"

"Why?"

"Yeah, what difference does that make, Agent Holt?" Sam says stiffly.

"Trust me, it's important," Dean says to his brother before turning to the mother, "please?"

"Please make it quick. He's not doing too well," she sighs.

Dean is already out of his seat before she finished her sentence.

"Do you mind if I use your restroom?" you ask politely.

"Yeah, down the hall to your right," she nods.

"Thanks," you smile and walk past Sam. You lean down and whisper into his ear, "Do not touch her."

You don't wait for him to reply and just head into the living room to get to the bathroom. Lucky watches you as you walk past him, and instead of walking to the bathroom, you only walk until you're out of sight. You kneel and stare at Lucky, using one finger to beckon him over. He seems to understand you, so he listens and trots over to you until you're face to face.

"You may have Mandy and Aiden fooled, but you don't have me fooled. I know you're not a normal dog. I can see right through you. I'm onto you. I've got my eye on you," you whisper with a glare.

Just then, Dean comes walking down the stairs, and you stand up. He says thanks and goodbye to Mandy, much to Sam's displeasure. You walk out with the brothers and prepare yourself for a fight coming on between Sam and whoever argues with him.

"Well, it wasn't her," Dean declares.

"You don't know that."

"She's got an alibi, Sam," you sigh.

"She's lying," he shrugs.

"You didn't hear the kid, dude. She's not lying."

"Fine. She still had time to wolf out, Dean. The last werewolf was in bed, with me, and she wolfed out."

"Don't make this personal, Sam," you groan as you get to the car.

"Look, all I'm saying is that between this and the daylight attacks, something's not adding up."

"Yeah, because it's not a werewolf case. Out of all the werewolves we've seen, not one acted like this. It's something else."

"We're not just gonna hand her over to Crowley until we figure out what. You understand?" Dean says.

"Okay, I understand. How about you two go check out Cal's crime scene and see if we're missing anything. I'll come back and keep an eye on Mandy."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa," you stutter. "No, how about you go and we'll stay here?"

"Y/N, I still know how to do my job. I'm just gonna watch her. That's all. Trust me."

"Uh-huh," Dean scoffs.

"My ass," you mutter, but get into the car anyway.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You and Dean didn't get anything from Cal's crime scene, so you thought it is best to head back to the motel. Sam is good on his own, and you'd really rather not be anywhere near him if you're being honest. Plus, it's lightly raining, and you'd rather be in bed right now. That's where you're currently residing whereas Dean is sitting on the edge of his bed staring at his phone. You're not that far from where he is, so you're able to see the screen of it. He's staring at Lisa's name.

"Dean let her go," you break the silence.

He snaps out of whatever trance he's in and tosses his phone on the table.

"Have you gotten ahold of Cas?"

"I've been joined at the hip with you and Sam. No, I haven't," you sigh.

Like you said earlier, there is never going to be a right time. You just have to get it over with, and this might be your only chance. If not, then you're definitely going to do it when the case is over.

"I still have to tell my dad."

"Yeah, he'll take it a lot better than I did," he mutters, but you still heard him.

"Actually, I might have gotten in touch with Castiel. You're right, I have been irresponsible, and it's only fair to you that you know what's going to happen in the next year. You see, I thought–"

Dean's phone interrupts you, and you roll your eyes in annoyance. Sam always has a habit of interrupting important things whether he's physically here or not. Dean stares at you like he expects you to contiue, but when you motion to his phone, he snatches it off the table and puts it on speakerphone.

"Hey," he sighs. "We got bupkis here."

"I definitely got something. It ain't a werewolf, for one."

"And who was right about that one?" you ask.

"What is it?" Dean asks to keep the focus on the case.

"Skinwalker."

"A skinwalker?"

"Yeah, as in, the family dog seriously needs neuter."

"Wow, we haven't heard of a skinwalker in years," you comment.

"I'm actually a little rusty on the profile," Dean adds, opening his father's journal to re-read the section about skinwalkers.

"You and me both. Uh, I just got the low down from Bobby. They can change anywhere, anytime, skinwalkers infect you with a single bite, silver will drop them, and they chow hearts like sausages. Otherwise, they're basically a werewolf cousin."

"So what happened? Did you catch him?" Dean questions.

"Not exactly. But I have some idea where he might be."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Confronting Lucky at the local animal hospital is a lot better than doing it at Mandy's house. She doesn't even know he's here, but you three do. The veterinarian has no reason not to believe you when you say that Lucky is your dog. You've been around him long enough to pretend that he's yours.

The vet lets you take a look in the back where a bunch of other dogs are waiting in cages. This vet is also an animal shelter, you can see. Lucky is the first one as soon as you walk into the door, and as soon as he sees you, he growls.

"Don't growl at me," you glare and kneel down to his level. "You've been a bad dog, Lucky."

"First things first," Dean says and kneels down next to you.

He takes out his gun and removes the magazine to show Lucky the bullets he's got.

"Do you see this? This is silver. Don't say I didn't warn you," he threatens.

"Now that we got that covered, why don't you and I have a little chat. Back at our place. I know you understand me. So, it's either the easy way or the hard way," you state.

With the easy way, you hold up a pair of jeans that tells him he can shift into his human form so he can walk out of here normally. With the hard way, you hold up a chain so he's forced to walk out in dog form. Sam laughs when you hold up the chain, and you look back at him with a weird look.

"What? Soul or not, that's funny."

Lucky barks, but you're not fazed by it.

"Get dressed, Lucky," you say and toss the jeans into his cage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lucky, in his human form, has been forced into your motel room and tied to a chair. Sam did the tying, so you know it's going to be very good knots. Lucky isn't going anywhere, but it's not like he can if he tried. Sam sits on another chair across from him while you and Dean take purchase on the beds.

"Well, I got to tell you, Lucky, you got us stumped. I mean, why shack up with the family? Is it a kinky thing? Do you like to play with your food? Roll over, Lucky. Speak," Sam taunts him.

"Go to hell," Lucky growls.

"Already been. Didn't agree with me," Sam says and gets up to approach the desk where a silver knife is. He picks it up and lightly plays with it. "How about I take this silver knife, and start carving some dog until you behave?"

"You do what you got to do," the skinwalker stutters nervously.

Sam approaches him, but Dean holds up a hand to stop him. Once Dean says his name, he stops reluctantly.

"Listen, you don't have to tell me why you're with the family. I get it."

"Oh, you do, do you?"

"You killed every threat that came near them. You care about them in your own whack-a-doodle kind of way. It's obvious. What I want to know is, who was that guy you were kibitzing with? He a skinwalker, too?"

"Look, I can't say anything," he sighs, clearly torn about what to do and say.

"But if you don't, then you're gonna put Mandy and Aiden in danger," you say softly. "Sooner or later, all this shit is gonna come for them."

"We don't give a rat's ass about you. We want to help them. That's our angle. That's it," Dean shrugs.

Lucky looks between Sam and Dean, and he sighs–he's giving in.

"Yeah, that guy, he's a... whatever it is I am. He's not the only one."

"How many of them are here?" you ask.

"About 30. We were all–we were kind of recruited."

"Recruited?"

"Yeah. I was living on the streets until they found me. They told me that with one small bite, I'd be strong and fast."

"Sniffing people's butts? Yeah, that's a real step up," Dean scoffs.

"Well, it was for me."

"Where is this little Scooby gang of yours?"

"Everywhere. We're out there finding families, and once they take us in, we lay low."

"Lay low? What the hell's that mean?" you wonder.

"Well, we're waiting for the word."

"What word?"

"Once we're settled, we get the signal, and we all turn on our families. We change them, all in one night. 30 becomes 150."

"God, you're a sleeper cell," Dean gasps.

"Yeah, well, that's one way to say it."

"So you're waiting for word from who? Who organized you?" Sam asks.

"There's a pack leader."

"Your alpha?" you ask.

"What's an Alpha?"

"The first skinwalker, the strongest of them all."

"Well, he's plenty strong, but, no, I-I don't think so. I'm pretty sure there are guys like him in other towns. We're not the only pack out there."

"Fantastic. Then you can help us stop him," Dean declares.

"Oh, no, I can't. No."

"Yes, you can."

"No, you guys don't get it. No one can. These guys who turned me are ruthless."

"Listen to me," Dean crouches in front of Lucky. "What are you gonna do to that family, really? You gonna put your jaws around that little boy's throat? Clamp down and listen to him cry for his mom? Because I'm gonna guess that these are the only people who in your pathetic life have ever shown you any kindness. So it's either that or you can help us stop it."

"Please, Lucky. Think of Mandy and Aiden," you whisper.
