ONE YEAR AGO

The deed is done; Sam is in the pit. You're emotional as hell because of Dean, but you have more pressing issues right now to deal with. Your dad sold his soul for the location of Death, and Crowley promised to give it back after Sam jumped into the cage. Well, it's been a few days and Crowley still hasn't given it back. You're getting tired of this bullshit, so you decided that if Crowley isn't going to come to you, then you're going to have to make him.

You need something to do to keep your mind off Dean anyway.

The TV is playing in the background about how just a few days ago the weather was going crazy as if there was some big global storm brewing. Now, there isn't a cloud in sight. You know it's because of Lucifer, but they don't know that.

Your dad is getting the spell ready to summon Crowley while you're spray painting a devil's trap onto the floor with glow-in-the-dark spray paint. It can't be seen unless the lights are off. Crowley knows better not to mess with you right now or ever, so you're not sure why he's playing games right now.

"Are you sure this is going to work?" your dad asks when you finish.

"It better. I am this close to socking Crowley in the face for what he did," you growl.

"You know, it was my decision too."

"He knew what he was doing when he suggested it. He knew you wouldn't be able to resist it if he promised something that would help taking down Lucifer. He knew."

"Are you sure you want to be here for this? I can handle Crowley on my own. If you need—"

"What I need is for you to start the damn spell!" you interrupt him.

He sees how hurt and betrayed you are beneath your anger, so he doesn't argue any further. He starts the spell and chants what needs to be chanted. Your dad lights a match and tosses it into the bowl with the ingredients. A few moments pass, and you don't see the demon anywhere. You're growing very impatient when you hear his voice come from the kitchen.

"Been making merry, have we?"

You both turn to face the demon, and your eyes flash dark blue in anger.

"Bite me," you growl.

"If that's your thing," he shrugs. He snaps his fingers and the TV shuts off. He takes a step toward you and your dad, and right onto the devil's trap. "That swan dive of Sam's was a thing of beauty. Tens all the way round. Standing OV from the Romanian Judge. You should be proud. As deaths go, it wasn't too shabby. Cheer up, mate, we just saved the sodding world together. Me, I've been celebrating."

"I'd hate to see what you call celebrating," your dad scoffs.

"Yes, you would."

"Cut the shit, Crowley. I have been through literal hell these last few weeks, and I am not someone you want to make an enemy of. We've been trying to call you the past few weeks, and you haven't been answering. You know why we called you here."

"Yes, our little deal," he chuckles and looks at your dad.

"Yeah, well, it's about time you hold up your end and give it back."

"Give it back?"

"Crowley! I am this close to ripping your head off. The deal was that we ice Lucifer and you rip up the lease. So, give it back!!" you shout.

"Oh," he smirks, "you didn't read your contract."

"The hell you talking about? What contract?" your dad asks.

Crowley snaps his fingers and points to your dad. He writhes in pain as foreign writing appears on his body. You go to him to see if he's okay when you see the writing.

"Paragraph 18, subsection B, which is on your naughty bits—I only have to make 'best efforts' to give you back your soul."

"What the fuck does that mean?" you snap.

"It means I'd like to, but I can't," he sighs dramatically.

"You lying sack of—"

"Ten years," he interrupts you, "and you come to daddy. Until then, I suggest you start drinking the good stuff."

You really want to skin him where he stands, but all you can do is smirk and cross your arms. Crowley looks at you in confusion and steps closer to you.

"You're not going to yell? Pitch a fit? Threaten me?"

"Why would I when you can rot where you stand until you change your mind?" you ask.

"Why? 'Cause you asked nicely?"

"No," you chuckle and walk to the light switch on the other side of the room. You turn off the light to reveal the devil's trap you spray painted not even twenty minutes ago. "Because we're going Dateline on your ass."

"I hope that's paint," he sighs. "What am I going to do?"

"Locked on your king, Crowley. Your move," you smirk.

You turn to the kitchen to walk away when Crowley sharply whistles. You pause when you feel the hot breath of the demon's hellhound on your face. It's a big dog if he can reach your face without trying.

"Doggie breath. Bracing, isn't it? Checkmate," he grins.

"I'll kill it," you growl and your eyes flash blue.

"And I'll make sure your father rots in hell for the rest of eternity."

"It's not worth it, Y/N," your dad whispers.

You don't lose eye contact with the demon when your dad scratches off a piece of the paint with one of his many knives. Crowley has you right where he wants you, and everybody knows it.

"This isn't over. I'll kill you," you threaten with tears in your eyes.

"I wouldn't have it any other way," he walks out of the trap and over to you before pausing right in front of your face. "Happy hunting."

He disappears within sight, almost immediately, and you grab the closest thing to you and throw it across the room in a shout of anger. Your emotions are very heightened, and you're not sure how to deal with them coming at you all at once.

"We'll get him, Y/N."

"I know," you cry.

PRESENT DAY

What the fuck did you just do? As good as it felt, you weren't supposed to fuck Dean. Why, after just one touch, do you fall into his arms? He left you, it shouldn't have happened. He's with Lisa, so he technically cheated on her with you. They may be "on a break", but you know his heart still belongs to her. Or, did it ever belong to her in the first place? Do you still hold it?

His touch still lingers on you, his bite still evident on your skin. You look over at him to see he's still sleeping, and in that moment, he looks so peaceful. It's almost as if you two never broke up in the first place. You don't know what to do or say to him about this, so the best thing to do is to avoid him like the plague. As to not wake him, you lift his hand off your body so you can slide away gently. As soon as you're clear, you gently place his hand where your body once was.

Your clothes are strewn across the place haphazardly along with Dean's. Apparently, you really couldn't wait to have his hands on you, and it seems it's the same with him. You reach for your pants that are hanging across the chair when the denim knocks over an empty beer bottle. It clatters to the floor loudly, and you just freeze in your spot like a deer in headlights. As slowly as you can, you look at Dean to see him still sleeping. He must be so tuckered out to sleep after that. He's usually such a light sleeper.

You gather the rest of your clothes before making a beeline to the bathroom. You don't want to spend any extra time in this room so you get dressed in the clothes you wore last night. Before Dean can wake up, you escape the room with as little frustrations as possible. Sam is by the car with a file in his hands, and you make your way over to him.

"Where is Dean?" he asks.

"Um, I thought he was with you. Didn't you see him last night? I mean, I thought he had gotten a room with you," you say, but he interrupts you.

"I don't care that you fucked him. I got a case," he says bluntly.

"Tell me how you really feel, Sam," you scoff and shake your head.

"Timothy Jenkins was found at the local playground with his chest ripped open and his blood sucked out. He's the sixth body that's been found. I checked the other bodies and they've come up clean. No sulfur, no EMF, and no hex bags. Sounds like our kind of thing. I'm going to check it out, want to come?"

"Yes please. I'll text Dean to meet us there," you mutter.

"We need his keys."

"I got mine. He can meet us there later. Come on," you say and pull out your keys.

You had the intention of leaving your bike in an alleyway along with the keys, but you haven't had the time. You were going to do it last night but look how that turned out. You get on the bike, and Sam gets on behind you. He wraps his arms around your body as you start it. He tells you where to go, and you do it. It doesn't take long to get there, so you know Dean will have no problem finding it.

As soon as you get there, the place is crawling with cops. The story was only announced a few hours ago, but the police are quick in this town. You flash your badges when you pass by one of the officers guarding the area, and he lets you through. The man is lying by the monkey bars in some bushes, so you head over there.

"You go look for EMF. I'll check the body," you instruct.

Sam just nods and takes out the small device. You two separate and you head over to the body. You kneel down next to it when your phone rings.

It's Dean.

"Hey where did you two go?" he asks before you had a chance to greet him.

"Sam got a case. We're at the children's playground not far from the motel. I didn't want to wake you."

"About last night—"

"I'll see you when you get here," you interrupt and hang up.

You don't think you can have that conversation with Dean right now—or ever. You just know if you take one look into those forest green eyes, you'll start to fall for him again. Did you ever fall out of love with him? No, but you're not going to let him know that. He moved on for a year and lived without you. You tried so hard to make it work, but he wouldn't listen. He just doesn't get to walk back into your life like nothing ever happened.

You can't let that happen.

To busy your mind, you focus on what's right in front of you. There is something off about this kill, you just don't know what. His chest is pretty mangled and despite his organs being bloody, his skin is palest as can be. The man must have been a biker because he has biker gloves on his hands. You don't want to get your hands all bloody, so you removed both gloves and put them on your own hands. Luckily these gloves aren't fingerless so you have more protection against his insides.

You reach in and sift through the bloody mess when you finger something sharp. You grab and remove it only to see a big black claw.

Dean arrived just as Sam got done scanning the area.

"No EMF. Find anything in there?" Sam asks as he and his brother join you. "Glad you could finally join us."

"Shut it," he mumbles.

"Yeah, I've got some kind of a claw," you show and tell.

"What in the hell has a claw like that?"

"Only one person would know the answer to that," you say and take out your phone.

You dial your dad's number, but he doesn't answer right away. He's usually quick with this sort of thing. You look at the brothers after the sixth ring and just shrug.

"Maybe he's in the can," Sam thought out loud.

Finally, your dad answers the phone.

"Yeah?"

"What happened, you've fallen and can't get up?" you joke and chuckle.

"Hilarious. What's up?"

"We're in Wisconsin. There have been six bodies with their chests cracked wide open. No EMF, no sulfur, and no hex bags. I did find a claw of some sort. Hold on, I'll send you a picture."

While on the call, you take a picture of the claw and send it to your father in hopes he can tell you what it means. Once finished, you put the phone back to your ear.

"Okay, it's sent."

"That's a new one," he says after a few pauses.

"We have no fucking clue what this could be. Do you think you can help us?"

"Y/N, I'm a little busy."

"Please, dad? We don't know what this could be."

"Fine, I'll call you back," he hangs up.

"I guess we wait," you say to the brothers.

"I'll do some more research. See if I can dig anything up before he does," Sam offers, and you hand him the claw without getting your bloody gloves on him.

Speaking of, you take off the gloves and toss them next to the dead guy's body before turning to Dean. It's really awkward now that you two have had sex again. You just don't know what to say, and you're really not going to talk about it now.

"Why didn't you wake me?" Dean asks after several long pauses.

"What?" you snap out of whatever trance you're in.

"Why didn't you wake me when you got up?"

"I don't know," you shrug.

"Listen, about last night–"

"I think I'm going to pray to Castiel to see if he's got anything on this. Maybe it's an angel thing," you interrupt.

You quickly walk away from him, and when you know you're out of hearing range, you let out a loud sigh of relief.

"Castiel, please knock some sense into me because what the fuck? What the hell am I doing here?" you pray to the sky, not expecting him to reply to you.

What the fuck are you doing? Where is this going? Whatever it is, you're not going to have sex with Dean again.

You can't let it happen again.
