As you rode up towards valentine you couldn't help but let your mind drift to what your life would be like if you wasn't a bounty hunter, all this running around and getting shot at made you tried both physically and mentally.
You made your horse go towards the Sheriff's office and hitched her, you gave her a pat and felt sorry for her as she has been shot god knows how many times but you knew she was loyal to you.
"Miss L/N, just in time" The Sheriff said as you walked through the door.
"Mornin' Sheriff" You said and went to the bounty board.
"You going after Arthur?" The Sheriff asked as he stood up.
"Seems that way" You said and scanned the poster.
"Be careful with that one then" The Sheriff told you.
You nodded your head and went towards the door and left. Once you was outside you went over to your horse and mounted up and started heading towards the heartlands.
"Okay, hes known to pass through here" You said outloud.
"Lookin for someone miss?" A rough voice said from behind you.
You turned your head and looked at the man and realised that you found the bounty already.
"Oh, im looking for my brother he said that if we ever split up to find him here but im having no luck" You lied.
"Sorry to hear that ma'am" He said.
"I didn't catch your name" You said as you patted your horses neck.
You saw him look around and then saw that he was fighting with himself to tell you the truth or not, after a moment of silence he finally spoke up.
"Arthur morgan and you are?" Arthur asked you.
"Y/n l/n" You informed him.
He nodded his head and couldn't help but slightly smile to himself and you couldn't help but scan his face and couldn't help but think that he was good looking, half of you was telling you to take him in whilst the other half was telling you to get to know him.
"Need any help?" Arthur asked and pulled you out of the argument you was having with yourself.
"Oh, that would be great" You said and smiled at him.
You made your horse go into a trot and saw Arthur ride beside you and every now and then you could feel eye's on you and couldn't help but smirk.
"So, do you have any siblings?" You asked.
"I have a group which is kinda like my family" He explained to you.
"It must be nice having someone to watch your back and be there for you" You said and let out a sigh.
"Do you have anyone apart from yoir brother?" Arthur asked.
The question caught you off guard and you couldn't help but hang your head down just to hide the pain in your eyes.
"I would say it's just me and my brother but I would be lying, you see my brother mostly stays at camp or in a hotel while I'm out working to get money for us. So most of the time I'm alone" You told him.
Arthur nodded his head like he understood what you go through and you mentally kicked yourself for lieing to him.
"I know what its like to work alone, I mostly work by myself its kinda peaceful but lonely" Arthur admitted.
You nodded you head and looked forward to see that you was coming up to emerald ranch. You looked over at Arthur and couldn't help but take in his face some more but what caught your eyes the most was his blue eyes.
Arthur smirked to himself as you was staring at him and couldn't help but go back over your story. You looked away from him and you wanted to tell him that you was a bounty hunter.
"I don't think I'm gonna find him" You said.
Arthur stayed quiet for a moment before stopping his horse and looked at you. You stopped is well and couldn't help but think that he might of found out and might kill you.
"You don't have a brother do you?" Arthur asked.
You looked down and shook your head whilst feeling embarrassed but also found yourself smiling to yourself.
"What is your real story then?" Arthur asked you.
You couldn't bring yourself to look at him so you let out a sigh and kept your head down.
"My mother was really sick so every day I would go out and steal money from people on the streets but it just wasn't enough and one day she passed, so my dad turned to the bottle and started to gamble the rest of our money away he kept telling me that he would win but he kept coming back empty handed. One day I had enough and ran away and started bounty hunting I don't even know what happened to my dad and to be honest I don't care" You explained and felt some tears threatening to spill.
Arthur didn't say anything to you but you felt him stare at you silently.
"I was meant to be hunting you but I don't think I can turn you in" You said and finally looked at him.
"Go, I'll tell the Sheriff some lie" You said.
"I can't do that knowing you haven't got anywhere to stay" Arthur said.
You looked at him confused and saw him motion to follow him.
"What are you doing?" You asked.
"I said i have a group, you can stay for as long as you like only of you want to" Arthur told you.
"What makes you think they'll let me stay?" You asked.
"Considering you was meant to turn me in but let me go, I think that's a good enough reason" He said and let out a little laugh.
The ride back to his camp was quiet and you enjoyed it, as you two go closer you heard someone call out.
"Who's there?" A Irish voice said.
"Its Arthur" Arthur said.
You saw a figure walk over to Arthur and pointed there gun at you.
"Who's this lass?" They asked.
"Sean get the gun out her face, she's with me" Arthur said.
Sean put his gun down and nodded at you which you smiled at him.
"C'mon I need to speak to Dutch first about you staying" Arthur said and hitched his horse.
You did the same and got off and followed Arthur to a tent that was in the middle of the camp. As you got closer to the tent you saw a man standing outside with a cigarette in one hand and a book in the other.
"Dutch can i talk to you?" Arthur asked.
"What is it my boy?" Dutch asked and closed the book.
"I came across Y/N here in the heartlands and she told me her story and everything and I realised that she didn't have anywhere to go" Arthur informed dutch.
You saw Dutch look at you and thought for a second before smiling at you and looked back at Arthur.
"You better show her around and introduce her to everyone" Dutch told Arthur.
Arthur nodded and took you around the camp and showed you where everything was and introduced you to everyone. You was sat near the water watching the sunset and didn't notice the approaching footsteps from behind you.
"You alright?" Arthur asked and sat next to you.
"Just thinking" You said.
"I need to thank you" Arthur said.
"What for?" You asked and looked at him.
"For not turning me in" Arthur said laughed lightly.
"Its fine" You said and looked back towards the lake.
"How come you didn't turn me in?" Arthur asked you.
"I guess that i couldn't bring myself to do it for some reason" You said and shrugged.
You looked at Arthur once more before standing up and heading towards the fire. Before you got to far from your spot you felt a hand around your wrist, you turned around and bumped into Arthurs chest.
"Sorry" You said and laughed.
You removed yourself from the situation and felt Arthurs eye's on you once more.
"Y'know its rude to stare" You said and smirked at him
"I could say the same to you" Arthur said and smirked back.
You and Arthur made eye contact and you felt your cheeks heat up a little.
"I'll see you tomorrow" You said but couldn't look away.
"Sure" Arthur told you.
You don't know how it happened but all of a sudden you felt Arthur's lips on yours, you was shocked at first but soon started to kiss him back. As you pulled away from him you couldn't help but smirk.
"See you later, bounty hunter" Arthur said and walked away.
You smiled to yourself and went to where they put a tent up for you.
