Chapter 88: Impossible To Replace

I woke up with the sun shining in and I saw Derek was asleep, his head on my shoulder.

I gently ran one hand up and down his back while I stared at him.

Derek slowly woke up and kissed my lips, barely awake.

"Morning," I whispered.

He kissed me again. "Morning, how did you sleep?"

"Better," I softly smiled.

"You're sure?" He asked, kissing my collarbone.

"Mm-hmm," I hummed as he slowly trailed kisses up to my lips.

I slowly kissed him and he kissed me back, cupping my face.

I smiled and he kissed my cheek and sighed.

He slowly ran his hand up and down my arm and stared at me.

I glanced at him. "What?" I whispered.

"I was just thinking," he softly whispered.

"About?"

He slowly sighed and got up, grabbing something out of the side table.

He sat back down on the bed and handed it to me.

It was a key.

"What is this to?" I asked, taking it.

"It's to a safe deposit box."

I looked at him.

"It has my will-"

"I don't-"

"We have-"

"Nothing's going to happen."

We argued. I wouldn't think about it, I couldn't.

He pursed his lips.

"Elizabeth," he said firmly, his eyes conveying his concern. "I need to make sure, if anything does happen, you know that you and the kids are okay. My will is there, along with some family heirlooms, I have investments that are for the kids set up-"

"Derek," I stopped him, placing a hand on his chest. "Please, I can't talk about this... it's hard enough," I swallowed the burning lump in my throat.

He gently placed a hand on my knee. "I need you to know... if you find someone else-"

I snapped my eyes to his at his words.

"It's okay," he finished, breaking the stare first.

"No," I said firmly.

"But if you do-"

"I won't," I kept my firm tone and clenched the sheets in my fists.

He gently rested his hand over mine and I relaxed.
"I won't," I repeated, softer, tears forming in my eyes at the thought. I couldn't think of anyone to replace him. I've already tried forgetting him and I never could. I didn't care if death took him away, I would still one day hope he'd walk through the doors again.

I felt his thumb gently caress my cheek and I looked up at him.

His eyes studied mine, waiting for me to go back on my words.

I slowly kissed him, cupping his face, running my hands through his hair at the base of his neck.

He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer, onto his lap.

I slowly pulled away, leaving one more soft kiss on his lips.

He rubbed his thumbs on my shoulder blades and I slowly caressed his bruise on his chin.

"Stiles surprisingly packs a punch," Derek muttered.

I smiled and kissed the bruise. "Only when you mess with someone he cares about."

"Yeah, I learned that, and he cares a lot about you."

"He cares about us all. All of us, we are the pack."

"I deserved it." He whispered, slowly ran his hand up and down my arm.

"What all have I missed?" I asked, realizing I hadn't kept in touch and been out two days and also changing the subject.

I wanted to forget about our arguments and words that were said. We apologized and all we could do now was be a better husband and wife, and not letting things get in between us as best we could.

"Scott has a beta," Derek started.

"What?"

"His name is Liam. Around the same age as when Scott was bitten," he replied, his hands finding my elbows.

"Sounds like fun."

"He's got a lot of anger, and he hasn't found an anchor yet."

I raised my eyebrows and rubbed the base of his neck.

"Stiles, and Malia are trying to find the Deadpool to turn it off."

"Did they find the Benefactor?"

"Apparently it's Meredith."

"The banshee?"

"Yeah, Lydia is talking to her but she isn't making it easy to get information."

"Didn't she commit suicide?"

"She faked it, the doctor Brunski, was working with her. She used him to start all this I'm pretty sure because he's..."

"A piece of work."

Derek nodded.

"I'm out two days and I miss everything," I sighed.

Derek looked at me and I kissed him.

I slowly straddled him and slowly kissed his neck.

"Promise me something?" I whispered, against his skin.

He let out a breath as his hand wandered down my back slowly. "Anything," he breathed.

"Let's never argue again," I said, looking at his eyes.

He held back a smile. "And miss out on all the rounds of hot, intense, passionate, heavy, makeup sex?" He smirked, his hands falling to my hips, planting a kiss somewhere new after each adjective.

I held back my reactions to his kisses and placed a finger on his lips. "You're terrible," I whispered.

He smirked and wrapped his arms around my waist, firmly.

"I promise," he said sincerely. "But if we start getting dry I'm leaving the dirty dishwater in the sink."

"You wouldn't dare," I whispered, glaring at him.

"I would, so no declining in excitement allowed," he teased, his finger resting under my chin. "Or it'll be just like last time."

I blushed at the thought of last time he did that. The dishwater was the stupidest thing to fight over and I ignored him for weeks until he strategically started working out at night instead of in the morning, I lasted all but ten minutes before I couldn't ignore him any longer. However he was then ignoring me, my stares, and constantly clearing my throats. He had planned it evilly. I gave in and changed into something he wouldn't ignore, he wanted me to be the first one to give in and he had succeeded.

After that he forever teased me after he worked out if I wanted him.

Derek kissed my jaw, breaking my thoughts and I looked at him.

He smiled slowly. "You're wanting it like that again." He kissed my neck firmly. "Rough and-"

"Shut up," I said, pushing on his chest, making him fall back on the pillows. I wasn't going to admit he was correct at least not right away.

I hovered over him and he smirked. "Make me," he dared.

I kissing him, impatiently, shutting him up, and getting my fix of him.

He was the drug I could never turn down or ever get enough of.

There was no replacing this or finding anyone close to the feeling that Derek possessed over me.
