A hybrid is a person which animal ears and a tail along with some animal traits. For example they may growl if they're a dog hybrid or they may be skittish if it's a rabbit hybrid.

I am so excited. I finally convinced dad to let me get a hybrid. Dad tried convincing me to get a cat hybrid but I was going to the shelter with an open mind. I'm kinda leaning for a dog hybrid though. We got to the shelter and we're greeted by the staff.
"Hi. Welcome to the Metropolis Hybrid Shelter. What kind of hybrid are you looking for?" The nice lady asked. Dad looked at me.
"Well I'm open minded and I kinda just wanna go with the flow." I said. She nodded happily.
"I'm trying to convince her to lean towards a cat hybrid." Dad said. I rolled my eyes. I am 16. I'm old enough to make a decision on what kind of friend I want. She nodded and lead us towards the cat hybrid section of the clinic.
~Time Skip~
We've been here for about half an hour and none of the hybrids we've seen so far were sparking my interest. They were nice and all but they just didn't feel right I guess. It's hard to explain.
"Is there anyone else?" I asked. She was hesitant but nodded.
"He's a tough cookie to crack. He's been in and out of the clinic since he was a pup. He asks us not to show him to people. But since you asked." She said. I nodded eagerly. Dad was hesitant. I swear it's like the Wayne's blood and adopted are always on edge. She lead us towards the back of the dog hybrid section of the clinic. There was a door. She knocked and was met with an annoyed sigh.
"It's not time to go out yet. What is it?" A male voice asked from the other side of the door.
"Jason there are some people that want to meet you." She said cracking the door open.
"Tell em to go away!" He responded. I looked at her and smiled before going in. He looked up from a book he was reading and looked at me. He growled annoyed seeing me.
"Do you not understand English?" He asked. I shrugged.
"I heard you I just don't care. I want to talk to you. See if you're the right hybrid for me." I explained. He scoffed.
"Don't waste you're time. Listen sweetheart there are 2 kinds of hybrids here. Adoptable and not adoptable. I fall on the latter end." He said. I smiled.
"Really because you piqued my interest as soon as you started talking. Maybe you just haven't found the right family yet." I smiled sitting next to him. He just glared at me and laid down on his bed.
"Not interested." He said. I smiled.
"You say that but I know I've also piqued your interest. Come on give it a shot. If you don't like it back home we'll bring you back if you want ok. For the record I have no intention of bringing you back if you chose to stay." I said patting his knee before standing up. I went to walk towards the door but a hand stopped me. I smirked before turning around.
"If I don't like it you bring me back." He said. I nodded.
"I promise pup." I said. He growled.
"Don't call me that." He said. I smirked.
"Nope. The nickname is sticking." I said with a smile and grabbing his hand a pulling him with me out the door.
"Dad can you fill out the paperwork while I take Jason to get something to eat?" I asked.
"We can get him a visitor's pass to leave the clinic while you fill out the paperwork sir." The lady said. I smiled and nodded.
"Let's get the paperwork signed." Dad said. We got Jason a visitor's pass and went to a diner a few blocks away. We got in and grabbed a table. There wasn't a lot of people here which I was thankful for.
"Hi what can I get you today?" The lady asked when she got over. Jason just looked at me.
"Get whatever you want pup. I need a minute." I said. He nodded and ordered a bacon cheeseburger with extra bacon and fries with a coke. I ordered my stuff and paid. I sat at a table for him and waited.
"Ok pup tell me something about you." I said sipping my drink. He looked at me and shrugged.
"Ok how about we start with what's your favorite color?" I asked.
"Red." He said.
"Since that's your favorite color imma assume you resonate with that color the most. It could mean you're adventurous, driven, active." I guessed watching his facial expressions. He just seemed to nod the slightest bit looking out the window. The woman came with our food and put it in front of us. I smiled and thanked her. He started eating and looked at me.
"It could also mean you have an intense desire or anger." I continue. I could see him tense up.
"Oh you have an anger problem." I said.
~Jason's POV~
"Oh you have an anger problem." She said. I just glared at her before looking down and growling a bit. This is where she takes me back.
"Ready to take me back now?" I asked crossing my arms before looking back at her. I looked at her eyes trying to memorize them within seconds because once she takes me back I'll never see her again. I snapped out of my thoughts feeling arms wrap around me. I immediately tensed up.
"If you think I'm going to give you up because you have an anger problem then you're wrong." She said keeping an arm around me while she ran her fingers through his hair. I sighed relaxed and felt my tail wagging. I was glad she wasn't paying attention to it and I almost whined when she moved away from me. She went back to her seat with a smile.
"I went to the clinic looking for a friend and I hope that you'll think of me like one too. K pup?" She said. I nodded and smiled a bit. We finished eating and had a bit of a conversation. Her dad called after awhile telling us to come back.
"Come on pup. Dad says it's time to go back." She said quickly finishing her food within a few seconds. She sure is something else. Maybe this will be my forever home. I got up and we walked out. On the way back to the clinic I stopped her realizing something.
"You never said what your name was." I told her. She face palmed.
"Right. Sorry. I'm (Y/n) Wayne. Now let's go we're going shopping for you after this." She said with a smile. (Y/n). (Y/n). (Yyyyy/nnnnn). I like how it sounds.
"Jason? Jason? Pup you there?" She asked a bit worried. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at her.
"If it's too much we can go tomorrow." She said frowning. I shook my head almost immediately not liking her worried face.
"No it's fine. Just thinking." I mumbled before walking again. She followed and soon we got to the clinic.
"Come on let's go get Jason some clothes." Her dad said. Monica waved bye to be from behind her desk. I smiled and waved at her. I think she knew too that this could be my forever home.
~Tim's Skip~
~Your POV~
We got to the mall and I sighed. I don't like the mall. I mean it's fine if I'm with friends but even then I'm still kinda iffy about it. But getting a whole closet for Jason was a must. I mean the stuff he had at the clinic was like 2 pairs of sweatpants, 2 pairs of jeans, 4 different color solid shirts, a hoodie, and a pair of sneakers. Not a lot of variety.
"Ok kids I'm going to wait in here I have a business call I need to take." Dad said. I nodded.
"Where do you think you wanna go first?" I asked him. He shrugged.
"Why don't we try hot topic first. I feel like you'll like some things in there." I said as we made our way over. He just nodded a bit. We looked around for a bit and Jason actually did find a few things he liked. He put them on the counter and I paid. I made sure he didn't see the total because he doesn't need to worry about that. I grabbed the bag and we left. We hit up a couple more stores and I found out his style. The only way I can describe it is bad boy. Leather jackets, hoodies, ripped jeans, dark colors. He looked good. Once we finished shopping for clothes we went to the Hybrid Supply Store.
"What do we need to get here?" He asked.
"You need to get your tags. I don't know if you want a collar or not. If you don't we can easily put it on a bracelet or something." I said as we went over to the tag personalization area. I made the tag with his name and mine on the back. Then we went over to the collars. He seemed to get antsy.
"Are you sure it's not too soon to get a collar?My other owners would wait a week or two before getting me one." He asked unsure. I smiled and held his hand.
"I want to make sure people know that you're apart of this family ok. Now pick any one you want." I told him. He looked over them and grabbed a black collar. I smiled and felt the material. It was really soft.
"Anything else you want from here?" I asked him. He shook his head. I nodded and we paid.
"Ok let's go put the bags in the car and then come back for a few more things and we can go home ok?" I told him. He nodded and when we got back to the car dad was still on the phone. But the fact that he was yelling let me know he was talking to Dick. He doesn't yell at his employees. I opened the trunk and we put the bags inside.
"Who's he yelling at?" Jay asked. I laughed.
"My brother Dick most likely." I said.
"Is that his name or is he just a Dick?" Jason asked. I laughed.
"His name is Richard but his nickname is Dick. I don't know how you get Dick from Richard but I don't question him." I said. We both laughed and then headed back into the store.
"Come on let's get you a few things for your room, and you know hygiene crap." I said. He nodded and when we were done I made one more stop to get him a phone. He tried to convince me to not get him one that it was too much and that I already spent enough on him but I wasn't listening. The person helping me set up his phone was also laughing because he kept trying to convince me.
"Pup it's ok. I want to spoil you. Ok?" I said turning towards him and scratching behind his ear. He seemed to give in there and there was a slight blush on his cheeks.
"His phone is all set up." The girl said to me.
"My number is already saved in your phone. Please try to memorize your number and mine in case you ever lose your phone or it dies and you need to call me." I said. He nodded. We were walking towards the exit and were still a ways away because the mall is like a maze if you don't know your way around. But I heard a growl. Not the growl your thinking of. Jason's stomach. I just laughed.
"Pup if you were hungry you could've told me." I said smiling. He blushed slightly and looked away. Awwww!
"You're too cute." I said to him. We went to Starbucks and I got me and dad a coffee since I wasn't hungry and I got him a snack until we got home. It's almost dinner anyway. He ate his scone and croissant. When we got to the car dad was just hanging up the phone. I handed dad his coffee which he looked grateful for.
"Dick managed to get the toaster on fire. He put paper in the toaster with his toast and it set on fire. Thank god Alfred was there." Dad said making me laugh. I turned to Jason who was in the backseat.
"Alfred is the family butler but he's more like my grandpa." I told him.
"How rich are you guys?" He asked. I laughed.
"Don't worry your pretty little head." I said bopping his nose.
"Boop." I said before laughing at his face. I heard thumping and I looked at his tail to see it wagging and hitting he seat. I laughed and we went home. Although halfway to the manor I fell asleep.
~Jason's POV~
I looked out the window just looking at the buildings come and go.
"What made you want to adopt a hybrid?" I asked (Y/n)'s dad. He looked at me through the mirror before looking back at the road.
"Well (Y/n) kept begging for a hybrid. I asked her about getting a pet like a cat or something but she didn't want one. She said she wanted a hybrid because she wanted a friend she could talk to and that could talk back. After hearing that I said ok and then she found you. She looked at all the other hybrids in the shelter. Guess your special Jason." He said. I smiled at the fact that she chose me. We pulled up to a mansion and I couldn't help but stare. It was huge. Once we parked in the very long garage and I got out. I looked to see (Y/n) asleep. I smiled slightly and opened her door. I carefully unbuckled her seatbelt and picked her up.
"Jason you can wake her up she won't be mad." Her dad said. I never actually learned his name. I put her back in her seat and gently shook her awake. She looked at me and smiled.
"Hey pup." She yawned stretching. I smiled at how cute she was. I can't get too attached if she brings me back to the shelter then I don't wanna be overly attached. It makes it harder to say bye.
~Your POV~
I woke up and saw Jay.
"Hey pup." I said stretching. I got out of the car and cracked my back.
"Come on. Grab a few bags and follow me." I said grabbing a few bags from the trunk. He did the same and I lead him to his room which was a bit further down the hall from my room.
"Do you want me to help you put your things away or do you want some alone time?" I asked him. He looked hesitant like he didn't want to ask me to stay. I smiled and started folding his clothes to put in the drawer. He started hanging things in the closet and we stayed in comfortable silence. I just smiled before getting an idea. I threw a bouncy ball and I watched how his eyes followed the ball and how his tail wagged before he seemed to snap out of it and glare at me. I just laughed.
"Sorry I had to." I said. He pouted but ignored me.
"Pup you need to talk to me. Communication is how you build relationships." I said. He just sighed.
"You're my owner. I have to do what you say. It's the first rule that you're taught when you're like me. Do what you're told and you don't get sent back. There I spoke. Happy?" He asked. I just got sad if anything. I went over and hugged him. He tensed not knowing what to do.
"Hey I don't want you to see me as your owner. I'd rather you see me as a friend. Change into some comfy clothes I'll be right back ok?" I said before going to my room. I changed into some cute pjs and tied my hair up before grabbing a blanket and pillow from my bed. I went to his room and knocked on the door. I heard a quiet come in before opening the door. I saw him in some grey sweat pants and a baggy t-shirt. I smiled and hopped on the bed and motioned for him to sit next to me. He sat down next to me while I laid down. I turned on my side to face him.
"Tell me everything about you pup." I said. He just looked at me biting his lip uncertainly. "Everything. Your hopes, your dreams, your likes, your dislikes. I wanna know you pup." I said. He just looked away.
"You wanna know about me?" He asked with a small voice. I smiled and nodded. I looked at his tail that was thumping against the pillow near him.
"Of course pup." I said. I wanted to give this boy the world. He deserves to be happy.
~Jason's POV~
"Tell me everything about you pup." She said. I debated wether or not I should tell her I mean I barely know this girl. But she hasn't given any indication of leaving me. "Everything. Your hopes, your dreams, your likes, your dislikes. I wanna know you pup." She said. I looked towards the window hoping to get rid of this feeling in my chest. It was one that hybrids are warned about when they get adopted by older hybrids.
"You wanna know about me?" I mumbled. She smiled and nodded. Damn her for being cute.
"Of course pup." She said. That damn nickname. Although it's annoying as hell just the fact that she nicknamed me gave me hope that this was my forever home and that she'd never leave. I started telling her about my life. It wasn't the happiest. My mom who was also a hybrid was used to breed although she only had me before she died. They gave her too many drugs and she died. I knew my dad was in the pound which is like jail or hybrids and was never getting out. As a kid I was bounced around from family to family. I explained everything to (Y/n). What they were like and such and she teared up just hearing me talk about it. She just held me in her arms.
"Hey I'm not getting rid of you pup. Ok. I just want you to know that." She said holding me a bit tighter. I let her finding it comforting. I heard footsteps and a knock at the door. I looked at her. She sighed and got out from under me so she could get the door. I looked and saw an old man. Alfred their butler.
"Ms. (Y/n) dinner is ready." Alfred said. I looked down not wanting to leave her yet. Even if it was to go eat. I glanced at her and she looked at me before smiling and stepping out. She closed the door to where it was cracked.
~Your POV~
I closed the door and turned to Alfred. He didn't seem to want to leave the room yet.
"Alfred can we eat here? I don't want to overwhelm him. It's his first day here." I said. He nodded with a smile.
"I'll bring your food up for you two. Hope he likes ribs." Alfred said before leaving down the hall. I went back in and saw he didn't move from his spot.
"You don't want to overwhelm me?" He asked. I smiled.
"I just want to spend some more one on one time with you pup. You can meet the others whenever you want but right now I just want you to get use to me." I said. He turned bright red making me blush.
"Awwww you're blushing." I teased him. He growled but I wasn't deterred. If anything I found it more adorable.
"Aw pup. You don't like people teasing you?" I asked walking closer to him. He growled louder than before. When I was right in front of him I smiled.
"You know you being so defensive about blushing is only making you cuter. My cute puppy." I said. He pulled me onto the bed and straddled my hips. I only laughed. He pouted probably because this wasn't the reaction he wanted.
"I'm not cute." He pouted hovering over me. I smiled and flipped him over so that I was straddling him.
"Yes you are hun. You are one of the most handsome boys I've ever seen. Hybrid or otherwise and when you get embarrassed it's adorable. Your cheeks get all red, you avoid looking at me, you'll cross your arms usually, bite your lip, and mumble because your too embarrassed to talk." I said. He glared at me blush still on his cheeks before he smirked. I felt him pinch my butt making me squeak. I quickly scrambled off him knowing my face would be red. He just chuckled.
"Looks like I'm not the only one who's cute when they're embarrassed (Y/n). Cause you're pretty adorable too." He said. I felt smaller if that makes sense. Vulnerable that's the word. A knock at the door snapped me back to reality. I quickly opened the door and saw Alfred. I took the food from him after thanking him and put it on the table in the room.
"Grab a plate and I hope you like ribs." I said. We quickly ate and had a good time just hanging out but I ended up falling asleep on Jay's shoulder.
