Chapter 14
Risks
Artemis's PoV
So close.
I could see Percy leaning down, about to kiss me. My eyes fluttered shut as I sensed him drawing closer.
Bright light filled the tent. Odd. In the middle of the night, how could there be light?
I felt Percy clear his throat and move away from me, I opened my eyes and realised why, standing in front of us was the messenger of the gods, Hermes, with a wide smirk on his face.
"Hello, Hermes. To what do we owe this pleasure?", Percy asked. Although he looked quite annoyed. Then again, who wouldn't? Hermes and Apollo were one the most irritating gods other than Aphrodite of course.
I shuddered at the thought of her and Percy looked at me with a worried expression.
"Well,", started Hermes. "Father had asked me to check up on the two of you to see if you were getting along, so here I am. But it seems you are more than just getting along.", he said, emphasising the last two words with an amused expression.
"I assure you Hermes, that you have misinterpreted the situation, there is nothing, and I repeat, nothing going on between Artemis and I", Percy said reassuringly.
"We will see ", said Hermes.
"Hold on just a moment", I said.
"Why would father tell you to check on us in the middle of the night?", I asked as I looked at him warily.
"W-well...", Hermes stuttered out. But I wasn't done just yet.
"And let's say, hypothetically, even if he did, why would you appear inside my tent?", I asked. I glared at him and he cowered.
"Alright! Alright! Aphrodite bribed me to go see if you two were in bed together", he Exclaimed in a timid voice.
"What?!", Percy and I shouted at the same time.
"Well, looks like you aren't, gotta go! Have some stuff to do, bye!", Hermes hurriedly said and flashed away before I could get ahold of him.
"Never mind him Artemis, you should go to bed, we are moving tomorrow are we not?", Percy said, I nodded. Did he not want to talk about what happened? Does he not like me? Thoughts swirled through my mind but I dare voice them out loud.
"And umm, we can talk tomorrow, about what happened, right now. If you want, that is. Just give me the word and it'll be out the door", he said, considerate as always. But this didn't bring me any closer to knowing if he liked me or not.
I just nodded my head and decided to try and get some sleep. I felt Percy come towards me and pull the blanket over my body as I lay down. He gently bent down and whispered in my ear "Good Night Arty", he said, holding in a laugh.
This time instead of glaring at him or telling him to stop calling me that, I smiled slightly as my cheeks turned pink. He chuckled.
Percy got up to leave but I grabbed hold of his wrist. He looked down at me, "Artemis, I don't think this is a go-", he started but I cut him off.
"Please Percy, just stay", I whispered, almost pleadingly.
He sighed and slowly got into bed, beside me. I looked into his charmingly attractive eyes and smiled at him.
"Just tell if you want me to leave", he said softly. I scooted closer towards him and I could feel his body just a few inches away from mine.
I was taking all sorts of risks today, what's one more? I slowly grabbed his arms and put them around my waist as I wrapped mine around his back. Resting my head on a heavily blushing Percy, I fell into a deep sleep. Although I still had a very big smile on my face.

Percy's PoV
I was surprised when Artemis asked me to sleep with her but I was even more surprised when she wrapped her arms around me. But it felt so right that I forgot all about Thalia and guarding duty and just went to sleep beside the girl I had come to love, though I dare say it.
You can imagine my surprise when I awoke the next morning, in a tent that wasn't mine, with an auburn haired girl laying beside me. Then, when I realized that it was Artemis and I remembered last night, I decided to lay down in bed and just look at her beautiful face.
After what seemed like forever, Artemis shifted and stirred as she finally awoke. She didn't seem too surprised to see me and just blushed, I smiled at her "Good Morning Sleepy Head", I said brightly. She giggled but snuggled closer to me.
I looked at her lovingly, she was perfect. The only problem was that she was a sworn maiden goddess and couldn't date anyone. Hades, if someone even found out that we were in bed together, I don't know what they would do!
Still, being her friend was nice, and if last night's events are something that will be happening quite often, I liked it. We were practically dating, minus the kissing and stuff.
I was in love with Artemis, of that, I was sure.
I would have to just admire her beauty, both inner and outer, for she forever is and will be, a maiden goddess.
She kissed me on the cheek and was about to get up when I pulled her back down, she was taking risks, so why shouldn't I?
I pinned her to the bed and climbed on top of her, bending down, I whispered into her ear "We still need to talk about yesterday", I said, huskily.
She shivered slightly at my words. I rolled off of her but still laid there, right beside her.
Suddenly the tent was unzipped and in walked Thalia and Jake. Uh oh, this can't be good, I thought.
"You're dam right, it can't!", Thalia exclaimed, I must have voiced my thoughts.
"You left me all alone Kelp Head, I had to ask Jake for help", Thalia said and she gave me a pointed glance just to show that she was angry.
