In Mia's absence, Klaus had spiraled out of control in frustration and desperation. He wanted to see his daughter back home, he needed it more than anything. And Klaus Mikaelson was prepared to wage war on the vampire faction for his daughter.
In the mist of chaos, Hope had become jealous of her sister. The two had a good heart with good intentions, one just happened to not know how to control her temper. A trait Bella herself would learn about herself.
Hope sat angrily on her bed trying to catch up with school work as Carter rummaged around her room to find one of his missing books.
"Hope I let you borrow it where is it?! Mom is going to make me pay for it with my allowance!" He groaned, using the missing school book as an outlet for his feelings.
Hope closed her book harshly, "I told you, I left it on your bed! Your secret admirer Lizzie probably has it!" Hope snapped before adding, "Besides, you could buy a hundred books with the money Mia gives you guys." She said before going back to her work.
Carter raised an eyebrow, "You're right, I could buy a hundred. Possible more. It pays to have a powerful mother." Carter said teasing her.
Hayley has insisted that Mia did not spoil Hope in anything.
"Whatever." Hope whispered.
Carter sighed, "I'm going to go find my phone. Hopefully mom would have found our sister, who you got kindnapped, and your mom." He said annoyed before snapping his fingers and watched as the door swung open.
He walked out before snapping them again and hearing them close behind them. Hope rolled her eyes and bit her lip. "It wasn't my intention." She whispered to herself.
Dad is moving literal heaven and hell for Bella, who he's never met. He won't even spend one minute with me, and he watched me grow, she thought and plugged in her earphones before listening to music to drown her thoughts.
The door swung open and for a second Hope thought it was Carter again but saw Roman, a boy who she liked.
"I've come to save you!" He said dramatically before bowing and grabbing her jacket. Little did Hope know his intentions were far from good.
Mia had arrived at New Orleans a couple hours after Klaus. "Where is he?" Mia asked Freya who gave her a sad look.
"When was the last time you checked your phone?" Freya asked her making Mia uneasy.
"It's dead." Mia said slowly pulling it out and tossing it on the table. "Why? What's the matter?" Mia asked impatiently.
Freya sighed, "In your drive over here, Hope and Carter had managed to escape with some boy." She said slowly waiting for Mia's reaction.
"Son of a- okay can I borrow your phone?" Mia didn't wait for her to answer and took it from her hands. She dialed Caroline's phone number and after a few rings she picked up.
"Hello?"
"What's this i hear? My kids have run away?" Mia asked immediately bombarding her with questions.
Caroline gulped nervously, "Yes, but I've got the teachers on a locator spell to find them." She said in a semi reassuring tone.
"Who did they leave with?"
Caroline sighed, "That odd vampire boy named Roman." She said not thinking it was a bad thing.
Mia had heard his name before unfortunately she was always too busy to personally know all the kids, a matter she intended to fix when she goes back.
"Send me his information." Mia demanded before hanging up. Mia then turned to Freya, "please tell me you have more of that paste thing." Mia asked Freya with a hopeful look.
Freya sighed, "No but I know where I can get some." She said before rushing out to get what she needed.
Mia then dialed Klaus, "Nik?" She asked once the phone stopped ringing.
"Yes?" He asked trying his best not to drop the phone because of his blood filled hands that made it slippery.
"Hope and Carter left the school with some boy." Mia said making Klaus clench the phone.
"A boy?" He asked angrily.
Mia rolled her eyes, "Whatever! Carter will make sure she's fine in that department but get here now! We are going to get our kids." Mia said before hanging up and going into her room to get a fresh change of clothes.
For some odd reason, Mia tends to wear dark shades of color. From black to a dark red. It was odd to see her wear any lighter color, expect for white but nobody questioned when she did.
Freya arrived half an hour later with things and quickly made Mia what she needed to be concealed from the power of the Hollow.
Klaus arrived covered in blood, which Mia suspected from what Freya had told her and grabbed him a pair of clothes before putting it in a bag. "Come on you can change on the way." Mia said before rushing out.
"Send me The location!" Mia said to Freya who had a map out with their location. "Will do!" She yelled back before concentrating on the spell.
Once they were on the road Klaus began to take his shirt off, "You know if you wanted to see me then you could have asked." He smirked as he pulled the black clothing off.
Mia blushed and gripped the steering wheel harder, "Stop it." She whispered keeping her eyes on the road.
Klaus sighed loudly, "You don't know how much I miss you Mia." He confessed putting his head back on the seat.
"In more than one way I suspect." Mia said as she sped up, "But we can't think about us when the twins and Hope are in danger. Those nazis should have stayed dead." Mia said angrily.
"Because when I get my hands on the bastards that took my baby I'm going to-" Mia felt Klaus' hand on her thigh making her relax a little.
"Whatever it takes." He whispered staring at her with loving eyes. She was perfect to him.
Mia nodded keeping her eyes on the road and ignoring the rush of emotions coming towards her.
"Whatever it takes." She repeated.
Hope and Carter exited the car looking around, "Where the hell are we?" Carter asked a little worried. Roman chuckled, "This is where the witch agreed to meet us." He reassured.
"Well, your witch really goes for atmosphere." Hope mumbled looking at the old house and cringing.
Roman sighed, "She's not my witch. She's just a witch I know." He said no longer holding his famous charm that had made her fall for him.
"Not your witch. Got it. Are you okay?" Hope asked watching his face loose color.
Roman sighed and reached for her hands, "Look, Hope. You know I like you, right?" He asked making Carter roll his eyes as he looked around.
Hope blushed, "Well, I didn't think you drove me all this way 'cause you hated me." She replied making Carter gag.
"Watch yourself Roman." Carter warned protecting the one person he hated at the moment.
Roman ignored him and pulled Hope further away, "It's just... there's gonna be some things I have to explain." He said quietly.
Hope nodded, "Look, sorry, but the only thing worse than doing this is waiting to do this." She said as Carter tried to enter the house but was stopped by a force.
"Stop! It's spelled." He said making his way over to a specific rock and knocking it over. Carter eyes him suspiciously, "What did you do?" He asked not trusting him for one second.
"You Can go in now." Roman said to them and allowed them to walk in before them.
Carter looked around and found every exit possible Incase things went south, something his father's books taught him. He encountered a door that appeared to be locked and he kicked it in revealing a dark and cold room.
He looked around for a switch and but could find any which led him to grabbing the nearest object towards him and lighting it up with magic revealing what he wanted to see most.
"Bella?!"
Meanwhile in France, Elijah was with Antoinette sitting down on a bench in the airport.
"My mother had no right to put this on you." She said holding his hand.
"She's just protecting her son." Elijah justified making her sigh.
"Greta is complicated. And obviously her views are pretty extreme. But, yes, she does love Roman. So do I." She confessed makign Elijah smile.
He pushed the stray strands away from her face, "You never told me how it was Greta came to be your mom." He said softly.
Antionette snuggled into his hands, "All those years ago, after I was staked and stoned by my village, I was left for dead. I could feel my life slipping away when Greta found me. She saw something in me and turned me. I call her mother because... she gave me life. I-I owe her everything." She said not feeling ashamed of her past.
Elijah stood up, "Then my path is clear. I will go to New Orleans and retrieve your brother from those monsters." He said kissing her lips softly.
"No-" Antionette tried to protest but he cut her off.
"You are my family. Your joy is my joy. Therefore, your problem is my problem." He said before standing up.
She shook her head, "No, this is asking too much."
"No, it's not. Your mother is right. I am the only one with the power to protect your brother from Klaus and Mia. That kid poisoned you and sent the cure for it all within hours. It was his way of showing what he could do and he threatened us. Now just let me go. And after the sun sets and it's safe for you to travel, you come and join us." He said before kissing her once more.
"I'll comeback to you." He said before turning around and leaving.
Mia and Klaus had stopped to put more gas into the vehicle. "Remeber when we had carriages?" Klaus asked making Mia smile.
"Yes. We were always cramped up in there because of how big the dresses were." Mia giggled as she put the pump back in its place before the man who was in charge of collecting the money came.
He told them the price as Klaus grabbed his wallet. "Keep what's left over." Klaus said shoving two hundreds in his hands before grabbing Mia's hand and leaving.
"What was that?" Mia asked as she started the car.
Klaus stayed silent.
"Nik." Mia pushed his shoulder lightly. "If we play the silent game I'm going to ignore you for a decade."
Klaus cleared his throat, "I didn't like how he was looking at you." Klaus said jealous, making Mia laugh. Oh how much he loved the sound of it.
"Nik come on, you know I only love you." Mia said reaching over to place a kiss on his cheek before going back to driving.
Klaus smirked, "Of course you do."
"Hey! At least I can say that and you can't." Mia said referring to the times he had cheated on her. Klaus didn't find it funny.
"I have a serious question for you." Klaus said making Mia look over at him.
"What's the matter?"
Klaus hesitated before saying, "Did you know Elijah loved you more than a friend should?" He asked making Mia's heart stop for a second.
"W-what?"
Klaus clenched his fist as the familiar feeling of anger and betrayal returned, "Dont lie to me Mia."
Mia inhaled sharply, "Yes I did." She said quietly. "The day you were taken prisoner by Marcel and Elijah was dying he confessed his feelings towards me." Mia said ashamed that she had lied to protect Elijah from Klaus' wrath.
"Did you two ever..." Klaus asked clenching his jaw.
Mia bit her lip heard, "No," she lied.
Klaus knew her more than anyone else and noticed.
"Mia, do not lie to me!" He yelled.
Mia threw her head back, "He kissed me! Many, many years ago! We weren't even together at the time because you were murdering half of Europe. We had bumped into eachother and he kissed me." Mia said quickly.
"But, he regretted it and tried to compel me to forget and I let him believe he did." Mia said no longer holding anything back.
"And you never told me?" He asked in a calm voice.
"Of course not! He's your brother! Your best friend! I do not want to be Elena Gilbert or Katherine Pierce." Mia said disgusted.
Klaus stayed silent as he processed what she had said. "Did you ever have feelings for him?" He asked making Mia grip the steering wheel.
"There was a time..." Mia whispered ashamed of her actions. "But I never acted on them." Mia added quickly not wanting to look over and see his reaction.
"When?" He asked, trying to hide his pain.
Mia bit her lip as her eyes got watery, "Can we talk about it some other time? We need to-"
"Mia when?!" His voice was raised to the point where Mia flinched. "Mysitc Falls!" Mia blurted out making Klaus' mouth open in shock slightly.
As the two argued in the car, Hope and Carter had found themselves in a situation.
"You're alive!" Carter said rushing over to his sister and untying her form the ropes laced with werewolf venom. "I thought I would never see you!" Bella cried wrapping her arms around her brother.
"Did you really think I would just leave you?" Carter said hugging her tightly. "Of course that does mean I get my own birthday." Carter said making Bella laugh through the tears.
"Where is mom?" She asked making Carter shake his head. "She doesn't know Hope and I are here." He said helping her walk towards the door.
"Who else is here?" Bella asked hearing the voice of a boy.
"Roman." Carter said as Bella took a seat not having the strength to walk.
Bella's eyes widened, "You need to get out of here." She whispered looking around paranoid .
"What why?! I'm not leaving you!"
"Roman brought us here." Bella said making Carter's fist clench. "I knew something was wrong." Carter said before bending down to help Bella up. "Come on I'm getting us out of here." He said helping her walk out of the room.
Hope had found her mom in another room, tied up and pale from the lack of blood. "Mom I need you to get up." Hope said trying to help her up.
Hayley nodded trying her best to stand up. Once she had succeeded they walked out of the room and saw Bella and Carter heading towards the exit.
"No!" Roman closed the door activating the barrier again.
"Roman what are you doing?!" Hope asked as Hayley took a seat. "I can't let you leave, I'm sorry." He said making Carter let off of Bella and started to chant but failed to make any impact.
"Im sorry Cárter, but you can't do magic in here." Roman said genuinely before looking at all of them. "We need to talk about a list of demands you need to comeplete before leaving." He said completely unaware of his mothers plan.
Back in the car, it had been almost ten minutes after Mia had said she liked Elijah back at some point making the car ride silent and awkward.
"I'm sorry." She whispered tearing up.
Klaus took a deep breathe in, "He was my brother." He said lowly. "Elijah is dead to me." He said furious.
After some time, Hayley and Bella were caught up with what they needed to do to be free. "We have to bind ourselves?" Bella asked scared that it would hurt.
"We have to!" Carter said bending down to meet her eye, "if it's the only way we leave safely. It's the only way you'll be safe." Carter said making Bella nod.
The raven haired girl turned to face Roman, "Fine. If it's the only way." She said weakly before tearing up, terrified of what was coming next.
Roman nodded and grabbed his phone telling the witches to come and comeplete the spell. In a matter of minutes, that had arrived making Hope think that this was all planned.
"First you get my sister kidnapped then your boyfriend kidnaps me. Brilliant taste in boys Hope, our parents are so proud." Carter said sarcastically as he sat on the floor with his sister in his arms.
Bella nudged his shoulder, "Stop it Carter." She whispered, fighting to keep her eyes open. "Roman, your nazi Of a mother forgot to feed my sister. Go fetch her a sandwich or something." Carter said glaring at him.
Roman rolled his eyes, "My mother isn't a nazi."
"Tell that to my parents who by the way will eliminate the lot of you. Incase you forgot who they were, I'd reread our school textbooks. We did have a test on them". Carter said sarcastically.
Roman ignored him and headed somewhere in the house to get her some food.
Hope looked over at Bella, "I'm sorry." She said quietly making Bella look away. "If we get out of this alive then maybe I'll forgive you." Bella said weakly.
Hayley saw the look of hatred in Carter's eyes towards Hope. One that resembled Klaus in every way possible. "Carter take a deep breathe, and calm down. Loosing control over your emotions right now will put us all at risk." Haykey said, her maternal side showing.
He ignored her and kissed Bella's forehead, "Don't worry sister, we'll be out of here in no time." He said quietly.
Roman arrived shortly with a sandwich and handed it to Bella. She looked up at him, "I'm vegan."
Carter snatched it from him and shooed him away, "Bella just eat it." Carter begged, "You won't be able to be binded if you don't regain at least some of your strength." He said making Bella cringe as she grabbed it.
She stopped herself from crying as she ate the sandwich, forcing herself to swallow it. "Please hurry mom." Carter
whispered and looked at the door.
The twins connection to their mother and father made them positive that they would come for them.
As the witches grabbed Hayley, Carter shielded Bella from being taken. "How do i know you won't just kill us??!" He asked them.
"They won't! My mom doesn't want you dead just binded." Roman said before helping Hayley up. "You'll see." He said as he sat Hayley down in the middle of a circle of salt to start the spell.
"Look away kids." Hayley said as the spell began. She knew it was going to hurt, more than anything. She remebered the stories Klaus would tell her about the time he was binded and was terrified. But she need to do it for the kids.
"Anima marcam. Iskoristi vuka. Anima marcam. Iskoristi vuka. Anima marcam. Iskoristi vuka. Anima marcam. Iskoristi vuka." The witch chanted over and over.
Bella covered her ears as she ignored Hayley's screams of agony the best she could.
"It's a... piece of cake." Hayley had managed to say making Hope shake her head, "Liar."
"Anima marcam. Iskoristi vuka. Anima marcam. Iskoristi vuka. Anima marcam. Iskoristi vuka"
The witch grabbed the stone and walked towards Haykey, now she was going to be branded, "Look away, look away." Hayley repeated over and over.
Carter shielded Bella's eyes with his hands as he watched Hayley scream once the stone made contact with her skin.
The witch then continued to chant a few more times before stopping and looked at Roman. "It's done."
"How do we know if it worked?" Roman asked as the witch grabbed wolfsbane and threw some on Hayley.
"See? Nothing but a vampire now." The witch said as Hope ran behind her and hit her in the head. Carter took this as an opportunity to go after Roman and threw vervain on him.
Hope grabbed Hayley and Carter grabbed Bella, "Let's go!" They said before trying to run out only to stop once the sunlight hit Hayley's hand making her groan in pain.
"No!" Hope said as she moved her back to the shade.
"Shit!" Carter cursed and looked at Bella, "Mom taught us the daylight ring spell, please tell me you remeber it." Carter said knowing he didn't because he never paid attention.
Bella nodded, "I do. Do you have any jewelry?" Bella asked them. Hope nodded and grabbed the bracelet Mia gave her for her birthday.
"Quickly!" Carter said as he saw Roman standing up, his skin no longer burning. Carter took a deep breathe and ran towards her before knocking them both into a wall. In the mist of their fight, Carter had successfully taken his daylight ring and tossed it aside.
"No!" Roman yelled hiding him the sun.
Carter smirked in triumph, "That's what you get."
Bella concentrated the best she could and began the spell. "I need some of your blood." Bella said feeling blood drip form her nose.
"Bella you're hurting yourself." Hayley said trying to stop her.
"No!" Hope grabbed her moms hand and grabbed her earring pricking her finger and held it over Her bracelet.
Carter rushed back over to them, "Come on sister." Carter said quietly. Bella was almost done when Greta sped into the room taking the bracelet away.
"I don't think so little one." She said tossing it aside and blowing a powder towards them. Carter shielded his sister and turned them around not getting hit by it. Hope on the other hand had inhaled some, making her fall asleep.
Hayley growled, "If you lay one finger on them..." she threatened grabbing the twins and putting them behind her.
"I'd say you're not in a terribly good position to make threats." Greta teased as Roman walked towards her.
"Mom?" He asked smiling.
Greta let out a sigh of relief, "Roman, Are you all right?" She asked.
"Yeah, everything's fine. Hayley did the binding spell. The twins and Hope agreed to do it to. And then we can let them go." He said making Greta chuckle.
"Oh, darling, if only we could."
Klaus and Mia had arrived at the place and sped towards the house but were stopped when Elijah grabbed Mia trying to snap her neck but she overpowered him and kicked him.
"Elijah?" She asked looking down at him. "What are you doing here?" She asked confused.
Elijah stood up from the grass, "Protecting my family." He said as Klaus scoffed.
"They're your family? Our kids are in there!" Klaus said not having the time to argue.
Elijah shrugged, "It's not my problem." He said making Mia's heart sink to the bottom of her stomach. Elijah broke a stick and thew it at Mia and Klaus making them dodge it easily but not without being a little surprised.
"Well, what about Hayley? You loved her." Mia asked stepping forward. Elijah chuckled, "The woman I love has a brother in there, and you're not going in." He said prepared to fight the two.
Klaus looked at Mia as he took his leather jacket off, "Well, it shows how little you actually remember your old life, because if you did, you'd know there's no way you can stop us." He said as Mia felt her eyes change color.
Elijah was taken back for a second before composing himself again, "This will be fast Elijah." Mia said before running towards him.
It was only a matter of minutes before Mia and Klaus overpowered Elijah. While the tow faught, Mia sped towards the enternece and began to break the barrier. The door sung open and revealed Greta standing over Bella and Carter.
"Mom!" Bella said more than happy to see her. Mia sped in pushing greya into a wall and wrapped her arms around Carter and Bella.
"Oh my babies." She cried tighteting her grip around them.
Meanwhile Haykey tried to talk some sense into Roman as he looked at Hope's body on the floor. "Don't donut. I beg you." Haykey said referring to his mothers order to kill her.
"Mia saw this and mumbled a spell to snap his neck. Greta charged towards Mia throwing them both into yet another wall. Punch after punch, Mia faught with everything she had.
"I'm going to kill you." Mia said as the two walked around eachother. "Same with you boy and that wench you call a daughter. I'll kill them slowly infront of you before feeding them to you." Mia said her anger getting ahold of her.
This angered Greta which led her to grab Bella and Carter. "No!" Mia cried as she tried to grab them but Greta stopped her with a look.
"Take a are closer and I'll snap their necks activating their vampire side. This will lead to their final death once they touch the sun." Greta threatened making Mia shake her head.
"Please don't. I promise I'll let your kids live!" Mia tried taking a step forward. Greta scoffed, "You know you won't. An eye for an eye." Greta said wrapping her hand around their neck.
"No!" Mia couldn't do anything in that moment. She couldn't, she wouldn't risk it.
"Just take me!" Mia said making the twins shake their heads. "Mom no!"
"It's okay." Mia said softly. "If it's truly an eye for an eye, then you'll know it was me who killed August." Mia said slowly. "Take me in their place." Mia tried.
Greta shook her head, "This isn't about August. This is about the filthy species you and Klaus have created." She said making Mia groan.
"I'll bind them myself!" Mia said inching closer.
"Just please let them go." Mia begged.
Klaus and Elijah were inches away, still fighting. Mia knew she couldn't count on his help until he was done. She had to stall as long as she could. For a second, Greta became distracted whe it began to rain hail giving Mia time to speed to her and grab her wrists before throwing her against a nearby wall.
"Bella, Carter you have to get out of here." Mia said quickly as she tossed them the keys. "Go now!"
Bella shook her head, "Mom we can't leave you!" She said crying. "Please come with us." She begged makign Mia's heart break.
"I'm right behind you." Mia said giving her a small smile before Greta grabbed Hayley and pinned her against the wall.
Just outside the door, Elijah had managed to hurl a piece of wood into Klaus lower back preventing him from moving from the floor.
Greta shoved her hand into Hayley's chest making Mia lunge at them only to be stopped by Roman. From behind, he shoved his hand into her chest and gripped her heart. "Please don't make me do this." He whispered not exactly sure who he was talking to.
"Elijah." Hayley made eye contact with Elijah and hoped to spark some sort of memory. But the compulsion was stronger than his love for her.
Hayley looked at Mia with tears in her eyes, "You promised." She whispered making Mia's eyes water. "What are you doing?" Mia asked panicking wanting nothing more than to go after her but Roman had her.
Hayley took a deep breathe and looked over at her daughter once more.
She'll make me proud, I know it, Hayley thought before making a swift movement. Hayley had managed to take Greta's ring off and pushed them outside into the sun.
Roman had let go of Mia as he watched his mother burn along with Hayley.
Klaus watched helplessly crying as he heard her screams. "No!" Mia fell onto the floor sobbing hysterically. Elijah's face softened as he saw them all cry over the death of Hayley while Roman cried for his mother.
Mia grabbed the boy by the neck and snapped Elijah's neck, "Look at what you did!" Mia said throwing him into his mothers corpse.
Roman screamed and tried to stand up but Mia held him down, rage was evident in her eyes. "This is your fault!" She yelled shoving his face into her ashes. Mia straddled him and grabbed his face harshly.
"You killed you mom. You killed Hope's mom." She whispered into his ear harshly before staring into his eyes. "You're going to live the rest of your immortal life blaming yourself for her death." Mia compelled before snapping his neck.
Mia then ran to Klaus and took the stake out before running inside to get to the kids. "Mom!" Bella cried running into her arms.
Klaus watched from the door in comeplete awe as he watched the reunion between Bella and Mia. Now wasn't the time to introduce himself, so he quietly went towards Hope who was stirring awake.
"Dad?" She asked as he helped her up.
Klaus shook his head slowly, tears still in his eyes. "Hope." He whispered wrapping his arms around her. Hope saw the bodies outside and looked at him, "Where's my mom?" She asked feeling her breathing quicken.
She looked over at the twins and Mia, "Momma?" She asked as Mia looked down. "I'm so sorry Hope." Mia whispered making Hope shake her head.
The tone in which Hope had spoken to Mia reminded her of the small seven year old Hope.
"No! No. You're lying. Where is she?" Hope asked looking around. She finally gathered the courage to walk outside despite Klaus' attempts to keep her away.
Once she had seen her mother on the floor Hope's world came crashing down. "Mom!" She ran over to her and sobbed hysterically holding onto her remains.
"No no no!"
Mia did her best to keep herself together for them, "Carter, take Bella to the car." Mia said quietly. He nodded and helped Bella walk outside shielding her from the horror.
"Hope is in danger. You have to get out of here." Mia said to Klaus who wrapped his arms around her. "I love you." He whispered kissing her softly before speeding away.
Mia walked outside and grabbed Hope, "Let's go. We have to go now". Mia said having to physically detach her from her mom.
Hope cried in Mia's arms as the two made their way to the car. Mia sent a messsege towards Freya asking her to get someone out here to take care of the body.
Bella and Carter sat in the backseat trying to contain their tears.
Mia looked at the corpse through the mirror, "I promise." She whispered to herself before driving away.
