We're Counting On You

I looked at Carol, making her giggle as I checked her face.
"Carol~ You wouldn't happen to know if there was a tracking device in you, right?" I cooed.
Of course, all I got for a response was a giggle.
"Fine then," I said before she grabbed my cheeks and started slapping me.
"Oi!" I exclaimed. Instead of getting scared, she smiled.
I chuckled slightly.
"C'mon, time to give you a bath," I said with a smile.
I picked her up and took her to the small bath I had poured warm water in.
While I do, I search for a scar of the tracking device.
{ No way, how could there be nothing at all? }
After I had given her a bath, I dried her off and started changing her.
{ What should I do? Is there no tracking device at all? Was it Mom's bluff? No way. There's surely a tracking device. It's just so weird that a new baby who just came doesn't have a mark. }
I picked her up and let her put her head on my shoulder. She swung her legs back and forward.
{ I can't give up. We're all going to escape. I just need to think. That's what Norman and Ray would do. Observe. Analyze. Read the enemy's moves. If there's not a scar, that means it's small. }
"Think of the enemy's point of view..." Ray's voice repeated in my mind.
{ Enemy's point of view... Enemy... Farm. Mom. Not even demons would eat tracking devices! So they must take them off while we're getting shipped. That means it's in a place that it would be easy to take out. Where is that? Think, Y/n... }
"You're so good with babies, Y/n," Gilda said with a smile.
Carol hugged me making her say, "Wow, Carol is already used to you."
"Y/n, you know... I have something I want to ask you. That day... That night..." she cut herself off when I set Carol down.
{ The ear! The ear has no bones, I think. It would be easy to cut off, right? }
I wanted to listen to Gilda, but I had to do this quickly.
Carol giggled when I set her down and she grabbed my hand. I checked her ear, "Huh? What's that? A bug bite?" Gilda asked.
Realization then dawned on me.
"It's a mark form when they took our blood for tests,"
Because babies have thin blood vessels.
"Mom told me that a long time ago," I said.
I grabbed Carol's ear gently.
{ Found it! Nailia. Phil. Mark. Conny. It's in everyone's ear and it's easy to remove. A mark from when they took a blood test was a lie! The tracking device is implanted in our ears! } I thought proudly.
{ But... It's way smaller than I thought it would be } I thought as I tugged on my ear.
{ I can hardly even tell it's in my ear. No one would notice unless they felt a one-year-olds'. What kind of tracking device is this? I can't imagine... and if this is the demons' own technology... we're finished. }
I then felt a squeeze on my hand from Carol. It reassured me.
"Y/nnn-goo," she said, probably attempting to say my name but failing.
{ No, we're not. I know where it is... that's a step forward. We'll break them and escape! }
And that's the end of the first book! Yaaaaaaaay!
