But unbeknownst to you, all of the events that had taken place were merely illusions that the demon had placed you under, making you play right into her trap that she so easily devised. The voices, the words, the memory, were all memories that were twisted into the demons favor;
to make you into one of her children.
On to Chapter 18!
We're shifting to Tanjiro and the Snake Demon!
As you fell deeper into the demons trick, the demon laughed with excitement as she moved your stiff body from her hand to the end of her tail so that she could wrap you tightly. "(Y/N)!" Tanjiro yelled as he saw the demon shifting your body around, rising up slowly from being slammed into the wall harshly.
The demon turned her gaze towards the male with a confused look, "Oh?" She began with surprise, "You didn't die from that?" She asked as if it was a question with an obvious answer. Ignoring her question, "Let go of her!" Tanjiro yelled as he readied his sword with fierce eyes. The demons ruby eyes narrowed with annoyance as she scoffed, "And why would I listen to you?" Her voice aggressive and filled with disgust. Pointing at Tanjiro with her long nails, "The only thing that you've done is just aggravate me, you stupid nuisance!" The boy merely ignored her words, only focusing on the fact that you needed to be saved from the demons tightly coiled body.
The demon followed his gaze with suspicion to your frozen body. Realizing where his gaze sat, she chuckled happily, "I see now..." Her words almost hushed to the point where Tanjiro couldn't hear her. "You want to save the girl, eh?" The snake demons voice coming off with amusement. Tanjiro looked at her strangely, not knowing where she was going. She giggled, "What's so special about her then, little boy?" Her body slithered over to the other side of the platform, "Hasn't she failed you before? Been a nuisance to you yourself?" The sunny haired male's breathe hitched. Noticing a change in his demeanor, "I'm right, aren't I?" Her words slipping off of her tongue.
Tanjiro felt his teeth tighten, "No you're not! She's never been a nuisance! She's amazing!" He leaped into the air suddenly, now being overwhelmed with emotions. The demon looked at him with boredom as she tilted her head. "Little boys like you are just too easy..." With a swift movement, the demon, once more, jerked her arms outwards, flinging two green scales of hers at the flying male. Tanjiro felt his eyes widen once he saw the scales flying straight towards him, but couldn't react fast enough. The wine-eyed male felt the stinging sensation of the scute's; one on his arm and the other on his leg. And thanks to the acceleration of the scales, Tanjiro's moving body came to a halt in the air, making him fall straight to the floor instead.
He struggled to move his body as he began to fall towards the ground, the air whistling past his ears violently. Remembering what he did when you and him were fighting at Lady Tamayo's estate, he unleashed a move towards the ground to soften the blow. Unleashing a move, he was able to land on the ground not-so-harshly. About to get back up to continue fighting, he felt the seizing pain in his chest, forcing him to stay down and not get back up.
The snake demon pushed out her bottom lip with discontent, unhappy to not see the male fall and split his head open like a melon. Sighing, she moved her attention towards you, knowing that her scales were quickly numbing the boys body. Her hand extended towards your head where she proceeded to run your hair through her fingers. And as she ran her fingers through your hair as if you were a small toy, she noticed something golden surrounding your neck.
Before the demon could see what surrounded your neck, the male yelled at her. "Stop touching (Y/N)san! And put her down!" She turned her neck and could see that the male had rolled himself over on his stomach, his eyes dead-set on her with rage. A cocky grin danced it's way onto her face, "Jealous?" She asked towards the male. The male felt his heart jump slightly at her words. He thought about it for a second before pulling himself back together, 'You're not jealous, Tanjiro! ' He felt himself yell in his mind. "No!" He yelled back, but his tone being more unsure rather than being filled with certainty. The demon whipped her back as she cackled loudly, making the male feel small.
"What was that?!" She screamed through her laughter as she continuously mocked the boy. "Ohh~" Her hands on her stomach, "That was quite cute..." The demon said breathlessly as she wiped a tear of joy from her eye. "Luckily, you wont have to be jealous for any longer." Tanjiro's once humiliated feeling quickly diminished as he heard the demons words, a feeling of fear suddenly surging through him. A sadistic grin was now on the demons face as she stared at Tanjiro, "Haven't you noticed, little boy? Haven't you noticed that your little friend here has basically become smoke?" Tanjiro's red eyes whipped towards your body, well, what once was your body.
To his horror, you were almost completely covered in the black fog and falling ash that the other five shadows wore. "(Y/N)!" He yelled. The demon rolled her eyes at the males useless attempt to wake you up, "Make him stay down," she whispered as she pointed towards the still male. Two, smokey figures dashed straight towards him. Out of instinct, Tanjiro slashed his sword right when the two figures were close to him, but his sword just went through them, never fazing the two beings. With tight grips, the falling ash figures held Tanjiro down with great force; his attempts to get them off were futile.
The snake demon laughed once more, "I guess I can reveal a little secret to you, boy." The burgundy haired male stopped his struggling momentarily, having been caught by the demons words. With a toothy grin, "The shadows that you see are all dead children," her smile growing with pride, "I ripped off all their heads!" He felt his eyes grow to the size of saucers at the demons words. Laughing hysterically at his expression, "And not only that, that smoke that surrounds them makes their bodies erode! They're basically little puppets that do whatever I say!" The demon tightened her coiled body around your smoke surrounded frame, "Oh, and don't be mad, but I don't plan on keeping you." Confusion was etched onto Tanjiro's horrified face, "Don't take this the wrong way now," the demons finger pressed lightly against her cheek, "but you're too boring."
"What?" Tanjiro asked, not following with what the demon was saying. "You're just like the same with all the other demon slayers, boy. Your families were killed, you're all mad, and now you just want to kill demons. You're boring trash. Your not puppets that I want." Throwing her thumb behind her to point at you, "But her however," her grin never faltering, "she's just filled to the brim with self-loathing!"
Tanjiro was surprised at her words, 'Why are you mad at yourself, (Y/N)chan?' He thought to himself. Catching the boys expressions, "Oh? You didn't know? Well that just makes this even more fun!" Raising your body a little higher, "Listen boy, your little female friend here just thinks how shameful it was to hold onto you during your fight with that other demon. She thinks that she failed! How cute is that! She never realized how much of a failure she was until then!" The red-eyed male couldn't hold back his tongue at the demons last sentence, "Shut up! (Y/N)chan is not a failure!" With amused eyes, "Uh-huh," her hand falling to her side, "but I think that's enough chatter for now, sunny boy."
Turning her neck towards your wrapped body as Tanjiro screamed at the demon to let go of you, she broke the golden necklace off of your neck and flung it to the side, never seeing the golden, crane pendant. Lowering her face towards you, excitement brimmed within her to bite off your small head. Her mouth began to open wider and wider, resembling one of a snake getting ready to swallow it's prey whole. Tanjiro yelled and tried to move from the smokey figures grasp, scared of the fact that he might lose you, just like his family.
"(Y/N)chan! Wake up!"
"Please!"
"Please wake up (Y/N)chan!"
"(Y/N)!"
