"Oh for Gods sake some get this man some medical attention, I don't want to stain this shirt by biting into my wrist!" Mia said to the maids and turned back to look at her food but cringed.
"He's dead now. Get rid of him, it's not as good if he's dead." Mia mumbled giving him to the men and women of the house. They took the body without a question and Mia turned to the boys.
"What are we drinking?" Mia asked looking at Elijah scowl at the bag of blood.
"Ugh! O-Positive. Niklaus, you're heathen." He said tossing it into the bag.
Klaus chuckled before throwing his in the trash, "New rules." He started looking at Mia.
"No blood shed in the house where my daughter sleeps and plays. Perhaps I'll go out for dinner." Klaus said making Mia nod I'm his direction.
"You're right. It's unsanitary." Mia admitted and cleaned herself up.
Elijah looked at them worried, "Oh, no, no, no, no. We have no way to know who will take Dominic's place as the Hollow's right hand. There could be any number of disciples out there."
Klaus rolled his eyes, "Yes, yes, yes, all who may have the means to kill us. You know, if you hadn't been so hasty to kill him, we'd be dealing with the devil we know."
"Spoken by the devil I know best of all." Elijah sighed.
Mia raised an eyebrow in his direction, "I take it you have a plan."
"You, my lovely Mia, and Freya will place a barrier spell on the compound. No one gets in or out." Elijah said in a nonchalant tone.
Mia thought about it, "I...agree." Mia said looking at Klaus.
"Oh, so we're to stay here while our enemies seek to resurrect this monstrosity and let me guess, you won't be confined here." Klaus said annoyed.
"I have a little errand to run." Elijah admitted.
"And while you're off cavorting all over town, I'm what? Grounded?" Klaus asked.
Mia rolled her eyes, "don't be so dramatic."
Klaus gave her a look, "Says the drama queen."
Elijah ignored them, "Essentially. Why don't you take out your frustration on that filthy jawbone our enemy seems so fascinated by." Elijah retorted with a smirk.
Klaus smirked, "Gladly."

Hope sat on the dusty wooden floors in a journal filled with poems Mia had collected over the years. "A man of words and not of deeds, is like a garden full of weeds. And when the weeds begin to crawl, it's like a bird upon the wall. And when the bird away does fly, it's like an eagle in the sky." She reads slowly while her fingers follow her every word.
Meanwhile, Mia strapped the flamethrower on her shoulder before giving Hayley the thumbs up.
Hayley opened the gas tank before speeding to safety while Mia shot the Hollow's jaw bone with fire.
Once Mia realized it wasn't going to burn she stopped and tossed it aside furiously. "This isn't working." Mia said frustrated as she walked over to Haykey.
Hayley sighed, "Someone should be here with the acid of doom so I'll go check on that." She said and began walking away.
Mia was going to do the same but Hayley called her, "hey can you check on Hope?" She asked.
Mia smiled, "of course." She replied before leaving to go upstairs. As Mia was walking towards Hope she encountered Klaus already inside.
"She isn't here. I could hear her little footsteps upstairs." Klaus says as he grabs Mia's hand and laces their fingers together.
"I feel as I have not seen you all day." Mia said softly as she leaned in for a kiss. Klaus chuckled, "I decided to give you a break of my murderous tendencies." Klaus joked making Mia laugh.
The two headed upstairs to the attic and found Hope on the floor with an open book, "And when the sky begins to roar, it's like a lion at the door. And when the door begins to crack... it's like a stick across your back. And when your back begins to smart, it's like a knife inside your heart. And when your heart begins to bleed, you're dead and dead and dead indeed." She read stuttering and stumbling over a few words.
Mia frowned as she knocked softly on the wooden frame. "Hope when I said you should read more, I didn't mean that." Mia joked.
Hope looked up at her parents and giggled as she closed it.
"Not exactly the most uplifting reading material." Klaus added as he crouched down to look at her.
"It's an old book of rhymes. There's a lot of weird stuff here." She said while using her fathers shoulders to help herself up.
"You know, Hope, I'd rather you didn't play here, actually. All the splinters and the dust... and the bats." Mia said in a serious tone before turning playful.
Hope smiled, "There aren't any bats." She giggled
Klaus shook his head, "I've seen no evidence that your Uncle Elijah doesn't sleep here, hanging upside down."
Mia laughed along with Hope. The two girls shared a look and ran to Klaus wrapping their arms around him.
"I've seen evidence that you, my love, do." Mia said making him chuckle.
"Come along, sweethearts. It's dinner time, and I've had the chef prepare all your favorites."
As they headed to the dinning table; Hayley walked in holding a box of stuff. "Join us." Mia said patting her shoulder as Klaus pulled the seat back for her to sit.
He then sped to Hope and did the same.
"Let me get cleaned up, I'll be right back." Hayley said before kissing Hopes forehead one her way out.
The three sat at the table waiting for Hayley's return and spoke about their days and what they would do for the rest of the week.
Hope wasn't pleased when she had heard that all the stuff they were doing had nothing to do with Hope, sure it was for her, but all she was going to do was stay at home.
Mia noticed her mood drop and she gently placed her hand on her shoulder, "Whats the matter?" She asked looking over at Klaus as he mood shift into a more serious one as he looked at his child.
"Alright what did I miss?" Hayley asked sitting down.
"I want to go to school." Hope blurts out taking Mia by surprise.
"Hope you can't go to school." Mia started.
"You still haven't learned how to control your powers, you could hurt someone or yourself." Mia said as the food was brought by the waiters.
Hope looked down at her food with a frown and said nothing.
The rest of the dinner was awkward because of Hope's mood change which led to her being excused early to go to bed leaving Klaus, and Hayley talk about her school situation.
Mia on the other hand excused herself and went out to the balcony to think about what was happening in her life.
She worried about not knowing where to send her child along with hope to school because they had a right to educational and lead a normal life.
"I'll find a way." Mia whispered while rubbing her stomach as she drank some tea.
"Mia!" Hayley's voice brought Mia our from her thoughts and made her speed downstairs to where she was.
"What's the matter?!" Mia asked as she looked around looking for any threats.
"Calm down Mia." Klaus said as he dialed Elijah's number again.
"Elijah isn't answering the phone." Klaus mumbled.
Mia rolled her eyed and grabbed her phone out of her pocket, "I'll try Freya." She said and dialed her number. By the third ring Mia got worried because Freya always answers her phone calls on the second one.
"Hold onto this." Klaus said handing Hayley the photograph they had taken during Christmas.
"We should take more family pictures." Hayley said giving Klaus a small smile.
Mia frowned, it was probably the hormones or just her character overall but she sensed something different in the way Hayley looked at Klaus.
"There is a reason vampires avoid photographs." Mia replied.
"Well, not everyone in this family is immortal anymore." Hayley said referring to Freya and her girlfriend Keelan.
"speaking Of Freya, She isn't answering either." Mia said while setting her phone down. She maintained a straight face as she looked ahead of her towards the door.
"I'm sure their fine. They're just busy." Hayley said while taking a seat.
Mia's glared at her, "I know the concept of family is still a little new to you but I know Elijah, he would never miss a call during a time like this." She snapped before getting a little closer to her.
"And as for Freya, she never misses my calls."
Klaus stared at Mia with a surprised look and gently put his hand on her shoulder. "Mia..."
"As much as I agree with you, my love" he said nervously.
"We are in no position to be leaving the compound. Even if this is a fool's errand and I should be out there..." Klaus said a little more annoyed with the fact that he had been stuck in the compound all day.
"Dodging an evil ghost who wants you two dead? No. You're safe here." Hayley said standing back up.
Mia looked at her, "Safe and-"
Klaus cut her off, "and entirely ineffective."
Hayley gave them a look, "Your daughter needs you..." she said referring to the two of them.
"My daughter needs the Hollow to be purged from this earth." Klaus yelled taking Hayley by surprise. As for Mia, she saw it coming.
His fists were clenched along with his jaw, and the vein on the side of his neck was showing meaning he was going to yell sooner or later.
Hayley glared at him, "Why are you yelling at me? I'm on your side!"
"Cause I can't be trapped here!" Klaus said as he paced around.
Mia's faces softened when she saw what this was about, "You're not in a dungeon anymore Nik, it's okay." Mia said softly as she grabbed his wrist pulling him towards her.
Her small hands rested on the side of his cheeks, "Hey, talk to me." She whispered as her eyes scanned his facial expression and saw him relax a little.
"The water in the pipes was like nails on a chalkboard. I was starving. I could smell the blood from the people on the street above me, I could hear their heartbeats. My own mind turned against me. It was taunting me. It was relentless. The first few weeks were the worst." He whispered, completely forgetting Hayley was there as he focused on himself and Mia.
"You're worried about Marcel." Hayley said, a little confused.
"No. Let him suffer." Klaus said as he pulled away from Mia to leave the room.
"Excuse me." Mia whispered to Hayley and walked out leaving Hayley alone in the courtyard.
As the time passed everyone was getting ready to go to sleep, everyone being Klaus, Hayley, Hope and Mia.
"I'm gonna say good night to Hope." Hayley said when she saw Klaus and Mia talking in the dinning room.
Before Mia could say something she heard noise being made and she immidietly stood up. "Nik someone is here. They're trying to break the boundary-"
A vampire zoomed in and snapped Hayley's neck before Mia sped to him and ripped his heart out of his chest.
Dominic walked in the dinning room with a smug smile, "Impressive boundary spell. Unfortunately, it weakened when one of the witches who cast it...fell."
"Why don't we take this to the living room, I just remolded this room for our daughter." Mia said as more men came into the room.
Mia sped to a group of them but was weakened by the spell Dominic was casting on both Klaus and Mia.
"Ah!" Mia whimpered as she fell to the ground.
"Mia!" Klaus tried to crawl over to her but the pain of someone stalking him in the back stopped him.
"Marcel is in the tunnels. Find him!" Dominic yelled to one of his men before he focused all of his power on the two Originals.
Meanwhile Hope sat on the ground in front of Marcel and talked to him.
"I need you to let me out of the circle." Marcel said as he listened to the sound of people fighting upstairs.
Hope shook her head, "I can't. My parents will be mad."
"No, they won't. I'll keep you safe."
"I can protect myself, and my parents. I'm strong enough to stop the bad guys. I'm stronger than anybody thinks." Hope said before taking her bracelet off that kept her powers repressed. The flames of the candles around Marcel became stronger as she grew annoyed.
Marcel called after her which caused her to stop, "Wait, Hope. I know you're strong, okay? That's how I know you can let me out of here. I need you to trust me right now. Your parents, Mia and Klaus, rescued me. They raised me, and I knew your mom when she was a baby. We're family. What do both of your moms say about family?"
Hope thought about it for a second, " That we stick together, always and forever."
Marcel nodded, "That's right."
The two heard the heavy footsteps of an individual walking down and yelling, "He's down here."
Marcel panicked but kept a calm exterior, "Okay, look at me. Do you trust me?" He asked while extending his hand out.
Meanwhile upstairs, Dominic stopped the spell and watched them as they laid on the floor weakened.
He picked up the stake with thorns and walked towards them, "The Hollow is gonna have a feast tonight. With the presence of your two children here we can sacrifice the whole family. How convenient." He said as he walked towards Mia.
The veins in Klaus' face appeared as his hybrid eyes glowed.
."If you lay a hand on my children I'll make you wish you were dead!" Klaus said sinisterly, using the fact that he was distracted to pull out the stake and speed towards Dominic before burying it into his chest.
He was consumed by rage that he slid his hand towards Dominic's neck that he decapitated him.
Mia let out a deep breathe as the small hold Dominic had on her disappeared as she regained her composure. Klaus ran to her and helped her up, "Come, we must find Hope." He said helping her walk downstairs.
The two stared at the glory scene infront of them wondering where was Hope and what had happened.
"Marcel has Hope we need to find them." Mia said snapping her shoulder back into place as she ignored the pain and ran upstairs with Klaus not far behind.
They made their way to the Main Street of the city and saw Marcel with Hope.
"Marcel!" Klaus yelled as the two of them sped over to them.
Hope looked at them confused as to why they were covered in blood, "Momma? Dad? What happened?"
Mia stuttered, "It's, uh... it's, it's paint. We made quite a mess, didn't we?" Mia lied.
"Where's Mom?" She asked.
"She's at home, waiting for you. Are you okay? You took your bracelet off." Klaus said kneeling front of her as he reached for her hand.
"Mom, Dad, don't be mad. I-I let Marcel out and he kept me safe." Hope said, unaware of the danger she was in.
"We not angry, sweetheart, come here." Mia said wrapping her arms around her.
"Don't be angry with Marcel, either. He's my friend." Hope said into her chests
"Let's...um, lets go home." Mia said looking at Klaus and Marcel once before heading back home with Hope.
Klaus have a look to Marcel before following Mia.
Mia gave Hope over to Hayley before going to clean herself up.
" Is she asleep? She was quiet when we walked home." Klaus asked Hayley.
"She didn't exactly buy your story about paint on your hand." Hayley said chuckling softly quietly at his excuse.
"When I think about the horror she must have witnessed when Marcel killed those men, it just..."
Hayley shook her head, "No. She didn't see anything, actually. Marcel swept her away before she could even understand what was going on. He told her to close her eyes and sing."
Klaus presses his lips in a thin line as he thought about his daughter, "She called him her friend." Klaus said before looking over at the door and seeing Freya walk in with Elijah.
Mia walked into the living room shortly with a fresh pair of clothes and wet hair.
"Rough day at the office?" Freya asked trying to lift the mood up.
Mia wrapped her arms around Freya, "I'm glad you're okay." Mia said.
"I'm glad you're okay to. How's the littlest Minaelson?" Freya asked.
Mia sighed in relief, "Fine. I ran some tests."
Elijah hugged Mia and kissed her forehead, "I'm glad you're fine." He said before doing the same to his sister.
Mia poured herself some tea before saying, "Day check."
"Vincent restored the link to the Ancestors. We now have the means to put the Hollow back in its cage. So, how was your day?" Elijah asked the group.
"Dominic had the name of a werewolf bloodline: Apisi. They were entrusted to be the guardians of a bone, like Hayley's family. I've been tracking the lineage and the last of the modern family died a couple years ago, under dubious circumstances." Freya said giving Mia a knowing look.
"Tyler Lockwood. So the bones are in Mystic Falls." She said looking at Klaus with a small smile.

Klaus walked into Marcel's penthouse and stepped out into the balcony as he waited for Marcel.
"If you came to fight, it ain't gonna end well for you." Marcel said walking in.
Klaus turned to face him, "I didn't come to fight. You told her to close her eyes and to sing. I used to say that when you were young."
Marcek chuckled, "Yeah, well, she's a better listener than I was. You didn't tell her. About our history." Marcel said, a little curious as to why.
"Right, yeah. How dare I deny my daughter the heartwarming tale of the boy Mia and I loved as a son..." Klaus said trailing off.
Marcel snickered, "That is now the man you hate enough to keep locked in your basement." He said angry.
Klaus made his way to him in a threatening way, "Yeah, but the thing is, we're not men, are we, Marcellus? We're monsters. And I intend to protect my daughter from that truth for as long as I can." Klaus said while standing face to face with him.
"I knew you were a monster from the moment I met you. Now, I may not have known you were a vampire, but I knew you." Marcel admitted.
Klaus looked away hiding his hurt from his words, "The Hollow wants us dead. And it will tear through anyone to get what it wants. It doesn't matter who. Elijah, Hayley, Hope, Mia, I won't let it take them. And I won't let it take you. The only chance we have to survive is if we work together." Klaus said as Marcel scoffed and looked away.
In his heart he knew Klaus was right, and he didn't want to admit it.
But he had to.
