I walked back in the bar from my break.
Kevin:Yo cover for me
Me:wife?
Kevin:*sighs* yeah she uh is going a little crazy
Me:I gotchu
He nodded and I went back behind the bar, which I worked at duh. I opened my register and started serving customers. A man came in black jeans, a dark blue button up long sleeved and a neck tattoo. He came over to my area taking a seat.
Me:what can I get you
Guy:A bourbon on the rocks and your number
He said slyly and I smiled and started making his drink.
Me:I would totally do the second thing but I seem to have come down with a case of amnesia
Guy:*smirks* mhmm
He hummed and I set a napkin in front of him and placed the cup on it. He extended his hand.
Guy:Rio
I shook it
Me:kehlani
He smiled
Rio:Pretty name
Me:Th-
I was interrupted when I saw my babysitter walk in with Ella she came over.
Tina:I'm so sorry but I have a family emergency
She gave me Ella and her diaper bag.
Me:It's okay
Tina:I'll call you
She walked out and Ella was wide awake Kevin came in.
Kevin:Baby on duty again?
Me:Yea
Kevin:Just remember I'm not paying her
He joked
Me:ha ha very funny
I spoke sarcastically, so I worked with her on my hip still making drinks and doing my thing. A baby never slowed me down, around 1 a.m. I clocked out and wrapped Ella in a blanket she was only 7 months only btw. I walked outside and over to my car I unlocked it and heard the very familiar husky voice.
Rio:Yo
I turned and saw him walk over to me.
Rio:Let me help
He took the diaper bag from my arms and opened my back door setting it inside. Then she started crying. So I did the whole bounce thing and he watched.
Rio:You gotta support her head
I titled my head
Me:are you a mother now?
I joked and he smiled
Rio:nah I'm a father though here
He offered his arms and I was hesitant.
Me:ok let me see what you got
I handed Ella to him and he held her close to his chest and instead of bouncing he rocked her and she stopped crying. He looked at me.
Me:*smiles* Oh so you a baby whisperer, yo if you would've said that in the bar I would have handed you my number in a heart beat
He chuckled and gave me Ella, I put her in her carseat and buckled her in and covered her up. I closed the door and looked at him, I opened my door and pulled a pen from my center console and went to him. I grabbed his hand.
Me:Thanks for hypnotizing my baby
I wrote my number on his hand and he looked at it.
Me:*smiles* call me
I got in my car and left.
The Next Day
I woke up to my phone ringing, it was Beth one of my best friends.
Me:hello
Beth:Come over now
Then she hung up I got up and I showered I put on the outfit below
I put on heels and I did my make up and I went into Ella's room and she was awake.
Me:*smiles* good morning baby
I picked her up I gave her a bath and I put her in a fresh diaper and onside. I brought her out into the kitchen and I made her a bottle. Which consisted of rice cereal, water and formula. I shook it up and I grabbed her diaper bag and walked out of my apartment. I got to my car and I set the diaper bag in and her in her carseat. I left I got to Beth's and walked in and there was a sheet over the table I was confused.
Me:whats the 911
I had Ella in my arms and I was feeding her standing next to Ruby.
Beth:do it
Annie pulled the sheet off the table to reveal stacks and stacks of money.
Me:what the hell
Annie:we won half a mill biatches!!!
Ruby:We didn't win anything! We stole it
Me:You what?
Beth:robbed a grocery store
Me:why would you do that
Annie:we needed the money
Me:Enough to become criminals
Ruby:Oh like your not a criminal
I gasped
Me:are you fucking serious
Beth:Okay guys
Ruby:yes seriously! For now we have to sit on it divide it and wait so we dont end up looking like...
Beth:Criminals
Ruby:Okay
We glared at annie
Annie:Okay!
They gave me a cut and we all left, I did what I had to do adulting wise. I got home and I walked in and saw the man, Rio and 2 other guys.
Me:Rio? What the hel-
Rio:Imma need you to call your lady friends so we can all have a little talk
Me: about what
Rio:oh about the money you stole from us
I saw a gun next to him and I pulled my phone outta my pocket. I called Beth.
Beth:Hey wa-
Me:Shut up and listen you all need to come to my place now
I hung up annoyed now that I was wrapped in whatever this was. I set Ella in her play pen and sat in the living room chair waiting, in walked the ladies shocked at Rio and what I assumed were his goons. They sat on my couch.
Ruby: We didn't know you owned the store
I laughed and Rio glared at them
Rio:I look like some kinda grocery store manager to you what like rotary club or something nah lets just say we got some local arrangements with local businesses we help each other out or what not
Ruby had tears swelled in her eyes.
Ruby:Like money laundering for drugs
She looked at the girls
Ruby:I told you it was shady
she whispered
Rio:Why dont you stop worrying about my business dealings and start figuring out how you gone pay me my money back
I got up while they continued talking and went into the kitchen I grabbed a mug from my cabinet and over to the man standing infront of my coffee pot.
Me:excuse me
He moved aside and I poured myself some coffee and I walked back into the living room and sat down.
Annie:How are you so calm
She said with a shaky voice
Me:*smiles* I don't have a reason not to be, I didn't rob the store and I didn't steal his money
Ruby:You have to help us
I set my cup down
Me:Oh now you want my help what happened to me being a criminal
Annie:can we not argue infront of the *gulps* scary man
Although Rio seemed pretty amused.
Ruby:Cause you are!
Me:Watch your tone, Ruby your in my house.
Ruby:With a criminal who you seem oddly comfortable being around
Beth:Guys this is not the time
Me:If you have something to say, say it!
Ruby:I think your a bad influence, I think your a criminal and I think your bad news!
Beth:oh my-
Annie:Ruby!
I stood up and walked in my room and grabbed the bag I walked back out and I threw the bag of money at them.
Me:Take it I dont want it! And get the hell out of my house oh by the way good luck coming up with that missing hundred grand
They looked at Rio and got up slowly backing away and leaving out the door. Rio walked out with his goons.
1 week later
Ruby apologized so I was assisting them in getting this money. We were at Annie's it was dark and Ruby was calculating what we had so far.
Beth:where are we at
Ruby:short
Beth:by how much
Ruby:over 60 grand
Beth sighed
Me:what about the car
Annie:I took it back lost over half its value bt dubs
Ruby:well maybe you should've have bought it in the first place
Annie:my what a helpful contribution let me just grab my time machine
Ruby:oh my god we should just go tot he police
Annie:wait? what
Me:no we cant
Ruby;we haven't done anything that bad yet we dont haverecords
Annie:yes now we do
Ruby:if we just explain tot hem that-
Annie:explain what that we meant well gee officer were sorry we didn't mean to piss off the gang we just wanted to rob the grocery store
Ruby:Okay I'm just trying not to die
Me:enough!
I yelled and silence filled the room.
Beth:*sighs* I'm gonna take a shower I smell like booze and crime
Ruby got up
Ruby:Ill call you tomorrow
She left
Me:see ya
Annie:bye
I left, I got home and walked in I relieved Tina of her duties. I walked into Ella's room and she was fast asleep. I kissed her forehead and walked out I walked into the bathroom and I showered.
