KLAUS is on the balcony overlooking the courtyard, where it initially seems as though he is speaking to someone standing next to him.
"The taxpayers of New Orleans deserve a skilled Chief of Police."
Klaus is holding a man in a police uniform in a choke-hold off of the balcony with one hand while he sips a cup of coffee with the other. The police chief squirms and gasps for breath with a terrified look on his face.
"How inept are you if not a single one of your men can locate the woman I seek?"
The police chief pleads with Klaus as he dangles over the courtyard floor, "We're tryin'! She's a ghost!"
"Aurora de Martel is rather petite and may indeed be able to slip through the cracks like a wicked little cricket, but she is not a ghost." Klaus smirks devilishly.
"Not yet."
Klaus leans forward so he can look the police chief straight in the eyes, "I think this city's finest could try a little bit harder, hmm?"
Footsteps can be heard approaching, and Klaus turns to see Freya and Elijah walking toward him, looking at their younger brother with exasperation. Mia walked in a little later, amused at the sight of the man hanging from their balcony.
"I see we're in for another normal Mikaelson breakfast." Freya said sarcastically.
Elijah rolls his eyes and gives Klaus an incredulous look, "Niklaus, for Heaven's sakes! Release the poor creature."
The police chief whimpers and shakes his head frantically, but Klaus simply shrugs and drops the man, allowing him to fall onto the floor of the courtyard. Elijah and Freya both give Klaus hilariously exasperated looks, but Klaus simply smiles smugly at them.
"That's not what I meant!" Klaus continues to smirk as he walks past Elijah into the upstairs living room.
"He'll live! And he'll remember to do better."
Elijah and Freya both roll their eyes and share an annoyed look before they follow him to continue their conversation.
"Is all this torture necessary?"
Klaus ignores this question and instead calls out into the hallway.
"Where have you been?" Klaus asks as Marcel walks into the room and immediately looks annoyed at Klaus' tactless behavior before responding with a sarcastic comment.
"I was making sure that the Strix and their witches are out trying to find your loony ex-girlfriend. Is that okay by you?" He asks and Mia simply sighs setting her cup of coffee down.
"Good morning to you too, Marcellus." Mia said glaring at her son, or was.
Elijah sighs and interrupts their fighting, " please."
Marcel rolled his eyes, "All of our heads are on the chopping block because he lost the one thing that can kill an Original."
Klaus gives Marcel an unamused look, and Freya interjects to defend him to Marcel
"It's not his fault that Cami was waving the white oak around like a kite, or that Aurora made a deal with one of your witches." Freya said making Mia smile.
"You're fitting right in Freya, a little family squabble never hurt anyone." Mia said
"Oh, yeah, it is has-" Marcel is cut off when Klaus stands to his feet and walks between them to break up their argument.
"I'm quite capable of defending myself, thank you, Freya. What I cannot do is cast a spell to find Aurora."
Klaus gives her a cold smile that says he's not pleased with her progress, or lack thereof. " In that respect, we're alike."
Freya looks at him in anger and frustration, and even Marcel rolls his eyes at Klaus from behind them.
"Aurora is cloaked. Most likely by the very witch she killed. Mia and I have been working nonstop every day." Freya spat.
Mia, who was standing next to Elijah leans her head on his shoulder. "I'm tired of this family."
"Well, you've stopped working now, haven't you?" Klaus shot back making Mia glare at him.
Freya purses her lips angrily, but Klaus continues to poke at her, "Well, go on. On your way."
Freya gives him a scathing look before she replies, "Do you talk to our other sister like this?"
Klaus blanches, clearly guilty, and Freya gives him a cold look. "Didn't think so."
Freya turns and storms out of the room. Elijah looks as though he feels bad for her and tries to stop her, " Freya..."
Elijah turns and gives Klaus a look before he changes the subject. "What do we know about this traitor in the Strix coven?"
Marcel sighs, "Nothing. No one knows how Aurora got to her. No one knows where Aurora is. Our coven hit the same cloaking spell as Freya."
Klaus makes a face at him, "Your coven? Making yourself quite comfortable with the Strix, aren't you?"
Marcel looked at him annoyed, "Yeah. Yeah, to help you."
Marcel goes to storm out of the room, but Klaus grabs him roughly by the arm and spins him so they're face to face.
"Any other news from your new BFFs you'd like to make us aware of?" Klaus asks.
Mia grabbed Marcel's arm, "Let him go." She said sternly. Her hybrid eyes glowing yellow, making Klaus harshly shove his arm away. "Don't threatened me Mia!" Klaus said making Mia laugh.
"You're the one treating us like your help. Just tell Aurora you love her and I'm sure she will come running back." Mia spat before going off to help Freya.
Marcel was touched, with Mia helping him and smiled before turning around and leaving.
"Niklaus. Why don't we reserve any malevolent intentions for ex-girlfriends?" Elijah says, Before also turning around to leave, leaving Klaus by himself.
While Mia was gathering a few things of her own to help Freya, she had a feeling in her stomach one she couldn't shake. "Elijah!" Mia calles, leaning on the table for support as thousands of words swirled in her head warning her of something.
Klaus heard her call Elijah instead of him, only fueling his anger as he threw his glass at the wall. Nevertheless, he stayed away.
Elijah quickly went to see what Mia needed, "What's the matter?"
"Something isn't right." Mia said looking up to meet his eyes. Elijah's face turned to worry as he helped Mia out of the compound and to where Freya does most of her magic at the bell tower.
When they arrived, Mia and Elijah stared at the sight infront of them. "She tried the locator spell again, but failed." Mia mumbled scanning the room for a clue as to what could be wrong.
"I'll call Klaus." Mia mumbled grabbing her phone and doing so.
"Amelia." He says making Mia roll her eyes. "Freya is missing Nikalus."
Klaus grips the phone tighter, "Do a locators spell you are also a witch!"
Before Mia could respond Elijah picks something up, "There's no need. I got something."
The letter has a poem which reads,
"A forest of pine
And a box made so fine
Come quickly. If not
Then poor Freya shall rot
Buried in dirt for all time"
"Your bloody ex burried Freya alive! Get here now, Nikalus." Mia said throwing the phone on the ground as she looked at Elijah.
Klaus walked in the bell tower so he can see Aurora's message for himself, and he reads it aloud in a mocking voice, "A forest of pine, and a box made so fine. Come quickly. If not, then poor Freya will rot, buried in dirt for all time."
Klaus slams the letter down on the table while Elijah watches him from across the room. Mia was looking at the compass on the table, "you sure know how to choose." Mia mumbled.
"The woman is insane." Klaus said, ignoring Mia.
Elijah scoffed, "Does she have to punish us with the world's most unfortunate limerick?"
Elijah starts to pace around the room while Klaus scowls angrily, "Is it not enough that we're forced to play her wretched games?" Elijah asks to no one in particular.
"Freya saw a vision of herself buried alive." Mia said, remembering it as part of the prophecy.
"Aurora will do everything in her power to bring about this miserable prophecy." Elijah said.
"Let's go stop her, shall we?" Klaus grabs the compass off of the table and prepares to leave with Elijah and Mia.
"I am tired, of chasing after this woman. She has to be killed, and if you don't do it Nikalus I will." Mia said as they arrived at the bayou.
Mia got out of the car and sniffed around. "Does it smell like anything?" Elijah asks, awkwardly as he isn't a hybrid with werewolf abilities.
"It only smells like bitch, meaning Aurora must be around." Mia swore and made her way through the woods. Elijah was taken back by her response making Klaus shrug slightly, "After we fine Freya I'm sure she'll cool down."
"When hell freezes over." Elijah mumbles before going his own way. Klaus follows Mia, not wanting to leave her alone.
Mia and Klaus stumble across a freshly dug up grave and quickly dig with their hands and speed. "No..." Mia whispers in horror as Klaus opens the coffin.
"Guess again." Klaus reads aloud looking at the blood written words. Mia quickly stands up dusting herself off and looking even harder.
"There are more than a dozen graves!" Mia says exasperated and digging into another one.
In Freya's grave, wherever that may be, she is trying her best to slow her breathing as she tries to figure out how to save herself. She clutches onto her talisman and whispers under her breath.
"Finn... I need your help." She whispers.
The talisman glows even brighter, and blood from Freya's gunshot wound raises in droplets above her, pushing itself through the lid of the coffin and into the soil above her so Klaus and Mia can more easily track her by scent.
The blood climbs up through the soil and coats the lavender flowers planted over her grave. Klaus suddenly catches Freya's scent and heads straight for the correct grave to dig her up. Mia notices this and quickly helps him.
"Freya!" Mia wrapped her arms around Freya in a sisterly hug making Freya smile.
"Thank you for not leaving me to be buried alive." Freya said sincerely, not entirely sure she was excepted into the family.
Klaus give her a small smile, "Nonsense sister, you're family."
With the help of Mia and Klaus, Freya walks inbetween them as quickly as possible. They burst into the room where Elijah and Aurora are and stop dead in their tracks when they see Aurora with a gun to Elijah's chest.
Elijah looks at them in panic.
"Stop this." Klaus says furiously.
"Why? One brother's life to end another brother's torment? It's almost poetic." Aurora says.
"The bullets... they're white oak." Elijah says, making Mia's palms sweat.
Klaus scowls at Aurora, and Freya looks at her brothers with concern. Klaus leaves Freya leaning against Mia so he can walk closer to Aurora in an attempt to talk her down
"We both know you're not going to pull the trigger." Klaus says walking slowly to her.
"Yet again, you're wrong."
Aurora goes to pull the trigger of her gun, but Freya and manages to flick her wrist, "Cesso!" The girls used their telekinesis to force Aurora to miss Elijah.
However, the bullet ricochets off the wall and hits Freya in the stomach, and Aurora vamp-speeds away as Freya collapses onto the floor.
"El come here!" Mia says taking her leather jacket off and putting it over Freya's wound.
"Tend to Freya. I have to murder my ex." Klaus says before vamp speeding to chase Aurora down.
Mia looks distracted for a second, debating on whether or not she should help him but decided against it.
"Niklaus will be fine." Elijah said making Mia force a smile. "Of course."
She then turned to Freya laying her down on the hard floor. "I'll look for some herbs, your job is to keep your eyes open Freya Mikaelson." Mia said before speeding off to find what she needed.
When she procured some of the items she went back and got to work. "The white oak is in there." Mia mumbled putting her hair up.
"Freya this is going to hurt". Mia warned. Elijah reaches for something for Freya to bite on and put it in her mouth.
"Elijah I need your hand." Mia mumbled grabbing his larger hand and placing it beside the wound. "You're going to keep the wound open and I'm going to grab the bullet. Lucky for you, Freya, it isn't near any major organs. But I want to avoid any further damage so please stay still." Mia said before taking a deep breathe and putting two fingers in the wound, as if they were tweezers.
Freya bit into the wooden stick as she screamed in pain. "She's almost done Freya." Elijah said trying to comfort her before looking at Mia.
"Please tell me you're almost done." He silently pleaded drowning out his sisters screams.
"I am...done." Mia said before slowly pulling the bullet out.
Freya had passed out during the last few moments and layer unconscious. Elijah quickly bit into his wrist and fed her his blood to heal her. Slowly, her wound started closing up until it was gone.
"Good job Elijah." Mia said, smiling at him Making Elijah blush. Mia grabbed the bullet, taking his hand and placing it on the bullet.
"Get rid of it." Mia whispered no longer in a playful mood. "We have to go help him." Elijah said and Mia quickly put a cloaking spell on Freya making her invisible while she recovered.
"She's safe. Let's go." Mia said standing up and speeding to where Klaus was.
Just to their luck, Aurora had the gun pointed at him. "I'm sorry." She says to Klaus before pulling the trigger.
Mia panicked and pushed him out of the way taking the shot for him. The bullet had hit her in lower part of her chest so hard that she flew back and lands on the ground.
"No!" Klaus roared.
Klaus eyes widen in horror, "No!" He roared, as Aurora's hand shakes from what she had just done. Realizing that she'll surely be killed if she sticks around, vamp-speeds away before Klaus can retaliate.
Mia whimpered, while clutching her stomach. "Mia!" Elijah and Klaus ran to her. "Why would you do that?!" Elijah asks furious as he sat down next to Mia.
Klaus in shock, falls beside her clutching her other hand. "You've got to get it out..." Mia whispered closing her eyes as she experienced pain she never had before.
"With every heart beat it gets closer to your heart." Klaus said looking at Elijah.
"Nikalus go! Kill her." Mia said weakly, Klaus shook his head frantically.
"No Mia I won't leave you, just like you won't leave me." Klaus says before snapping her neck watching her body fall limp.
Klaus immediately shoved his hand through her chest, feeling the white oak bullet before quickly pulling it out.
Both Elijah and Klaus sigh in relief when her heart begins to beat.
Klaus slumped next to Mia, holding her as tight as he could. "Don't you ever do that to me again!" He cried, pain evident in his tone. Elijah sat there silently, not knowing what to say asbhe processed the information.
She took a bullet for him, and not just any, she took a white oak bullet.
Back at the compound, the newly recovered Mia and Hayley who had an encounter with the Strix sat side by side. Cuddled into eachother.
"How are you feeling?" Elijah asked, holding out a glass of wine for Mia who took it happily. "I feel much better." Mia replied smiling.
Hayley hugged the girl from her side tighter, "You're so stupid sometimes." Hayley said still not believing that she could have lost Mia today.
"Only stupid for the family." Mia said cracking a smile. Klaus stood at the balcony in their room, away from Mia as he processed what happened today.
"Why did you do it?" Elijah asked, still shocked.
Mia only smiled, "Hayley already lost Jackson, she doesn't need to loose the father of her child. And you, can't live without your brother," Mia set her glass down standing up in front of him.
"I know he would do the same for me." Mia said making Elijah nod. "If not more." He said hugging her and kissing her forehead.
"Go talk to him." He whispered as they pulled away. "I know." Mia mumbled taking his glass of bourbon and drowning it. Mia then made her way to Klaus.
"My Love..." Mia whispered softly closing the door behind them.
"Mia." Klaus repleid.
It was silent for a moment before Klaus spoke up, "What were you thinking? I could have lost you!" He half Yelled, making Mia flinch a little.
"I could have lost the one thing that I cannot live without, which is you Mia, in case you didn't know." Klaus said throwing his glass on the floor as he turned to face her, his blue eyes full of tears and the rings around his eyes red.
"I could have lost you Mia". He whispered, breaking Mia's heart.
"I'm sorry, Nik. It was an instinct, almost as if I had to do it. I can't explain it now but soon I will." Mia said trying to clam him down.
Klaus only shook his head grabbing her arms and pulling her closer. "Promise me you won't ever risk your life like that."
Mia nodded, "I promise." She said holding each side of his face as she brought him in for a kiss. The small peck she had left on his lips had soo turned into a longer more passionate kiss. They tried to get as close as humanly possible, knocking over a few things making Mia laugh.
"I'm sorry but we just broke a hundred year old relic." Mia said making Klaus smile.
"Thank you, for ruining the mood. We should go with Elijah." Klaus said grabbing Mia's hand on his way out the way he always does.
When the two walked in the living room Haykey was speaking, "The attack was about breaking the sire link. Marcel told me that Aya's witches already have a spell to do it."
"And how does your heart play into all of this?" Klaus asks, no longer holding a smirk he shared with Kia a second ago .
"I'm the only un-sired vampire in history. Apparently, that's the key to making it work." Hayley said shrugging her shoulders.
"And yet, Marcel neglected to mention it this morning." Klaus said, irritated with his adopted son.
"Hey! Ease up. He saved me."Hayley said making Elijah raise an eyebrow.
"But the Strix might yet come for you." He said worried for Hayley
"Let them. I'm not an easy target. They'd be better off trying to find some witchy workaround." Hayley said confident in herself.
Mia looked over to her friend, "Hayley we still have to protect you, if not for you then for Hope. We cannot allow any danger to come to you." Mia said sounding like one of the Mikaelson brothers.
"Unless they already have." Klaus mumbled thinking to himself.
"They need my heart. Or one that's identical to it." Hayley and Elijah realize what is going on at the exact same time.
"Jackson." Mia whispered, her eyes widening.
Hayley closes her eyes and sighs deeply, "The Unification Ceremony didn't just marry us-it also made his heart a mirror image of mine."
They all share a significant look, and pause for a moment, as it's clear that Klaus is about to make a tactless suggestion, "We need to dig it up."
"Nikalus!" Mia hits his arm, "You have absolutely no filter."
Klaus stands to his feet, and Hayley gives him an exasperated look, "Klaus."
" Aurora's bullet very nearly killed Elijah and Mia. When she returns-- and she will-- I would prefer the vampires of New Orleans be obligated to protect us. They'll be more likely to do so if our lives remain linked to theirs."
Klaus rushes away, and Elijah gives Hayley a look that communicates he's not fond of the idea, but knows it needs to be done.
Mia sighed, " Niklaus is right. The sire-link has to remain unbroken. You have to."
Hayley looked unhappy and sighs in defeat as she watches Mia and Elijah head elsewhere. Mia was most likley going to go find Klaus while Elijah went out to torture witches for information on the unsiring spells.
Mia sat cross-legged in a chair reading a novel while Klaus sat at the desk only 5 feet away from her whittling a new chess piece out of a soft piece of wood with a chisel. Freya walked in, a little amused at their calm behavior as their prophetic doom was nearing. "Practicing your torture techniques, Niklaus?" Freya asked with a riased eyebrow as she stared at the new chess piece in fasination.
"Clearing my mind. Some children cuddle with a blanket. Mine loves her chess piece."
He holds up the piece of wood to show her the new wooden knight he's carving, and Freya smiles," Aren't you full of surprises." she said teasing him.
Klaus sits down the wood and chisel on the table before looking up at Freya with a knowing look,"You're surprised I came for you."
While Freya loked down embarrassed, Mia looks up from her book smiling as she sensed a Klaus Mikaelson moment of sibling appreciation. One that didn't happen to often.
Klaus stands to squeeze her shoulders with his hands as he looks at her in the eye with a serious expression." You are my sister, Freya. And you are a part of this family-- always and forever."
Freya smiles in relief, just as Elijah walks into the room to join them, smiling affectionately at both his siblings. Mia grins even harder as Elijah standins behind Mia who was only arms length away from Freya and Klaus.
"Do you know... I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I wholeheartedly agree with Niklaus."
Mia stood up and wrapped on arm around Freya, "These boys can get annoying but they will always show up for you when you need it. Even if you don't need it there they are, decapitating someone." Mia said recalling the number of times Klaus and Elijah had tore someones head off their shoulders for looking at Rebekah or Mia the wrong way.
Elijah smiled as he walked over to the bar to pour them all drinks. Freya smiled in appreciation leaning her head on Mia's shoulder. "I do not look forward to cleaning heads up."
Mia laughed, "They always get someone to clean it up don't worry." Freya smiled as she grabbed the glass from Elijah, as Mia and Klaus did the same thanking him.
"So... what's going to be our next move? Aurora has more white oak, and she's not gonna stay quiet for long." Freya said worried for her family's well being.
"Aurora's not the only problem." Elijah said as he grabbed his own glass.
"My near death expirience says otheriwse." Mia mumbled as she walked over to Kluas wrapping her arms around his neck and planting her lips on his. "What was that for?" he asked making Mia smile a little.
"Just becasue I love you." Mia whispered and let him go.
" Yes, it seems there's no shortage of those who would stand against our family." Klaus says before holding his glass in toast.
"Let's kill them all." Mia says sinisterly before they all clink their glasses together and drink deeply.
"For family, I would do anything."
