one last mission

MIA watched as Klaus and Rebekah we're reunited with, the child that she was no longer holding. While they were busy, Mia slipped away and left. Elijah noticed this and decided it was best she had her alone time as it could be overwhelming.
In her absence, Rebekah began to look for firewood and old decorations. An hour or so later, Mia came back with a couple of bags and she quickly set them inside making her way outside. Rebekah also made her way out the house trying her best not to peak in the bags Mia had brought.
"You didn't look did you?" Mia asked crossing her arms and putting her weight on on leg as she looked at the blonde.
"No I didn't look! I swear." Rebekah promised.
"We have a matter to discuss, the curse of the first born." Klaus brought up looking at Mia. He had missed her while she was with Elijah and although he was a litttle jealous he was more than happy to be in the same space with her.
"Curse on the first-born? What the bloody hell is that supposed to mean?" Rebekah asked.
"Well, according to Finn, our sister Freya didn't die of plague. She was taken as payment by our aunt Dahlia, who then cursed all Mikaelson first-borns for eternity." Klaus explained.
Hayley looked at him concerned, "Is any of this true?"
"It is if we are to believe Finn, who learned it from the bastion of truth-- our mother." Elijah replied.
Rebeksh rolled her eyes, "Well, no wonder Finn hates us. He lost the sister he adored, and instead got a judgy pack of siblings who found him unbearably dull."
" Great. So, is there any chance of us running into your loony aunt Dahlia any time soon?" Hayley asked sarcastically.
"The fable's over a thousand years old. Dahlia is long dead." Elijsh said almost reassuring himself.
Hayley waited a beat before saying, "...Like Esther?"
Klaus rolled his eyes, "No one's going to hurt Hope, because no one's going to find her." He looked over to see Mia and Rebekah putting more wood into the pit.
"There's enough wood, Mia and Rebekah. You'll burn down the whole bloody state of Arkansas." He said making them stop and glare at him.
"Arson has always been on my bucket Nikalus don't test me." Mia replied lighting a match and blowing it out for effect.
"Look what I found while looking for decorations." Rebekah said pulling out an old Polaroid camera from behind her back, her goal was to avoid an argument in between the two not wanting to be magically blown up by Mia in a fit.
"For what?" Klaus asked annoyed.
Mia glared at him, "Problem? Would you like to address it?"
"Ooh." Hayley chuckled holding her baby close. "Hope, you're going to love her." Hayley whispered to her daughter.
"Yes the fact that you don't have the ring I gave you on your finger." Klaus shot back. Mia narrowed her eyes, "I would wear it, if we were engaged!"
Hayley glanced at Elijah, remembering her secret engagement to the alpha of the crescent pack, feeling guilty.
"Enough love birds. Hope, Hayley this is a tradition we have been doing for a thousand years." Rebekah started looking at Mia to finish it off.
"We write our wishes and burn them in the fire. It was Kol's favorite part." Mia said sadly, she hadn't spoken to him since he sided with Esther to kill them.
"Hopes first bonfire season," Hayley pretended to think about it before saying, "I like it we're doing it!" She said before quickly walking inside to no doubt look for pen and paper.
Mia smiled, "I've got gifts!" Mia squealed to no one in particular. Klaus made his way inside smiking, "So do I," He whispered.
The five adults were scattered throughout the house thinking of what they would write on their papers and Mia couldn't help but wonder into the room Klaus was in.
"Hey." He said not looking up already recognizing her strawberry scent. "Funny seeing you here." Mia said awkwardly finding it to be a bad idea.
"Hm. You do this every year Mia, come to find out my wish?" Klaus asked covering his paper up. Mia shook her head, "On the contrary, I am making sure you don't find out mine." She said confidently before turning around.
"Scared I'll find out it's about me?" Klaus asked with a smug smile. Mia rolled her eyes, "No it's about...it's about Alec!" Mia lied saying the first thing that came to mind to make him jealous.
Klaus clenched his jaw at the mention of the boy. "Pray tell." He said pretending not to be bothered. "Well, He's associated with me and that's dangerous as it is." Mia said sighing genuinely concerned for his safety.
"Let me borrow your blonde therapist." Mia said taking a jab at him while reciving something from the hybrid. "Fine, but after you're done I'll compel her to tell me all of your secrets." Klaus threatened not wanting her to talk to Cami.
"I'll make sure she doesn't live to see another day-" Mia threatened meaning every word and Klaus knew this. He stood up walking towards her, "You know I love when you get like that." He said making Mia take a couple of steps back.
"Niklaus stop walking towards me or I swear I'll drive a stake through your heart." Mia threatened, not moving to show any weakness. Klaus took this to his advantage and pinned her to the wall.
"I miss you." He whispered in her ear sending shivers down Mia's spine. She pushed him away, "As soon as your child and your family is safe I will be on my way." Mia said making Klaus' facial expressions change.
"What?"
"I'm leaving Nikalus, and nothing is going to stop me." Mia said with confidence as her heart was breaking at her own words.
She had been thinking about it for months and it was time for her to leave, the heartache and the person she had become was not one she liked.
"No." Klaus said after a moment of silence. Mia started at him, "What?"
Klaus let her go, "You're not leaving me." He replied as if it was obvious. Mia scoffed, "I didn't ask for your permission-"
"You're not leaving me!" He yelled slamming his fist next to her head and into the wall leaving a hole. "You will not leave me Mia, ever! You are mine, always and forever." He roared gripping her shoulders.
Mia was scared, "Niklaus let go of me." She said calmly.
"You are not leaving me Mia." He said letting go. Mia looked at him seeing fear for a second before being replaced by rage.
Mia took this chance to speed away from the house, once she found a place far enough she began to cry. She sat at the edge of a building and thought about the one thing she wanted to avoid, Klaus Mikaelson.
Her one true love.
New threats were coming towards them, and she couldn't afford to get in the way or be used as leverage towards him. Klaus was everything to her, and she no longer was the same to him as he had his child to look out for. Mia didn't want to put him in an ultimatum where it's her or Hope so she was taking herself out of the equation.
"One last mission." She mumbled to herself looking off into the sunset and jumped off the building landing perfectly. Mia quickly made her way to the nearest bar and stole wine bottles making her way back to the house.
"You're right on time M." Rebekah said as they all stood outside by the fire. Mia gave her a small smile and stood next to Elijah who looked over multiple times.
"We need to talk." He mumbled as Rebekah said a few words about deserving this moment. "Nothing is going to change my mind Elijah I'm doing this for the family." Mia replied and watched as Rebekah put her note in the flames.
Hayley glanced at her child and Elijah while throwing hers in smiling. Next was Elijah, "Always and forever." He mumbled throwing it in.
"Nik where's your wish?" Rebekah asked noticing he didn't have a note card. "I don't have one Rebekah. Luck doesn't determine your outcome, you make it." Klaus said while clenching his jaw looking at Mia.
Klaus had a plan, and it wasn't a good one.
"Mia?" Rebekah asked awkwardly. Mia nodded taking her slip of paper out of her back pocket. She opened it up and read it to herself silently, "Happiness."
That's all she wanted. Nothing mattered more than the people that took her in, the people who stood by her and protected her from the cruel world. Mia was returning the favor.
She tossed the note card in there and watched it burn. "Presents time!" Rebekah said eager to get hers, the blonde vampire was oblivious to what was going on. They all made their way inside and sat in the living room.
Mia snapped her fingers as she looked at the fire place, "incendia."
"Hey Can you hold her please? I've got to go make her a bottle." Hayley said handing Mia the baby. Mia gladly took her and looked at her with nothing but love.
"Hey little one." She cooed, giving the child her finger to play with. Klaus watched from the other seat, his anger subsiding for a moment. Rebekah smiled sadly at the girl she had grown to love despite their differences. "She's perfect isn't she?" Rebekah asked.
Mia had He biggest smile on her face when she looked up, "She's perfect." Mia confirmed looking at Klaus, who almost smiled. "She has your eyes Nik." Mia continued.
Klaus gave her a look not wanting to talk to her but let her continue. "She's the one good thing in this family that over my dead body would I let something happen to her, so you have to understand I'm doing this for-"
Klaus cut her off, "You're doing it for yourself. You've grown tired of us and have decided to use that as an excuse to leave me." Klaus stubbornly said.
Rebekah sat up, "leave?"
Mia glared at Klaus before looking at Rebekah. "Yes leave, it's for the best." Mia said thanking god for the fact that Hayley walked in stopping their conversation.
"Okay, lets begin!" Haykey said excited to spend Christmas with family, even if they do try to kill eachother from time to time.
Mia nodded eagerly wanting to change the subject, Mia stood up and went to grab her bags while Rebekah did the same. When they came back into the living room they found Elijah sitting down next to Klaus, "Come to join us?" Mia asked.
The eldest Original nodded, "Of course."
Mia handed Rebekah her gift first, while she unwrapped it Mia was biting her lip waiting for her reaction, three, two, one...she thought.
Rebekah screamed, "You didn't!" She took her gift out of the box and showed it to Klaus and Elijah, "I did!"Mia said giving her the same enegery.
Elijah looked at her shocked, "How did you find her stuffed animal? It was literally from a thousand years ago!" He said in disbelief.
Mia smirked, "I've got my ways."
Rebekah quickly stood up giving Mia the tightest hug, "I love it." Rebekah said letting her go. Mia waited for Hayley to open her present.
Hayley took the last piece of wrapping paper off and smiled wildly looking at Mia, "The guide of being a hybrid mom by Mia Fitzgerald."
Mia gave her a sheepish smile, "I illustrated it myself. Book two is coming soon, i was thinking how to raise a teenage tribrid daughter." Mia said moving her hands in the air to show effect.
Everyone laughed, and Hayley was going to put the bag down when she noticed something else was in there. "Another parenting book?" Haykey asked smiking.
Mia said nothing while Haykey opened the book. "Oh..." tears started to form in her eyes as she continued flipping through the pages.
"A Family álbum." She whispered looking at Klaus. She handed the book to him and his facial expression softened when he saw a picture of himself holding hope.
"You took these?" Klaus asked Mia not looking at her. Mia nodded, "Of course. Someone has to capture the purest moments, we only get a few of them every blue moon." Mia answered and as he passed the book to Elijah.
For the remainder of the night they continued to exchange gifts forgetting of their reality for a few hours finding it peaceful.
Mia sat on Hayley's lap, "You've two had too much to drink." Elijah said finding discomfort at the sight of them in his southern reign.
Mia giggled, "If this is to be my last Christmas with you guys for awhile I intend to go out with a bang." Mia said making a gun motion and pretending to shoot Klaus before blowing him a kiss.
Klaus looked away, "It is getting late, and we must rest to gain strength for tomorrow." He mumbled grabbing his cup and heading upstairs. Mia frowned, and climbed off a Hayley stumbling to the room Klaus was in.
She knocked on the door softly, and leaned on the door frame for support as she held the bottle of red wine.
"Not now Mia." Klaus said recognizing her intoxicating scent.
Mia ignored him walking in, "We need to Talk." She said stumbling a little on her words. Klaus raised an eyebrow walking back to close the door.
"I love you, I really do. But your child is supposed to be your number one priority-" Mia started only to be cut off by Klaus.
His lips quivered a little as he looked for a way to stop her from saying what she wanted too, "You both can be my priority I'll protect you and Hope, Mia!" He insistes making Mia shake her head.
"No..no! Niklaus if anything were to happen to your little girl because you were trying to save me I would never forgive myself and neither would you! I've thought it through, I'll leave and claim myself and when the time is right I'll come back...to you," Mia said whispering the last part as she placed her hands on the side of his face.
Klaus almost gave in, but his anger betrayed him yet again. "No. You're not leaving." He said moving away making Mia sigh.
"I'll help the best I can, but I must go." Mia whispered walking out of the room. Klaus looked around the room, finally he found what he was looking for and pulled out a shiny object from a box.
He ran his fingers through the cold dagger that was made for Mia and sighned sokently, "I'm sorry my little flower."
He then gripped it feeling anger start to form, "But you can't leave me."

Mia put her things into a bag and made her way outside where Elijah was. "Hey little one." He said while chopping wood.
Mia smiled, "Hey..." she said quietly, "Listen-" she tried only to be cut off by him wrapping his arms around her and kissing her forehead.
"I know. Promise me you'll protect yourself no matter what, if you see danger you don't run towards it like you normally do Amelia." Elijah said with a stern voice. Mia nodded, "I will Elijah this isn't the first time I've had to look out for myself." Mia replied.
Elijah sighed, "please take care Mia and remember," he paused for a moment making sure he had her full attention.
"Always and forever."
Mia inhaled sharply, nodding. She kissed his cheek and went to put her things in the back of the car. Klaus came out shortly and handed Camille the littlest Mikaelson.
"Watch after her brother." Klaus said kissing his child's forehead and motioning for Rebekah to follow him. Mia was uneasy, with the plan that they had conjured up this morning.
Rebekah had volunteered to take the offer Esther was giving them and while she is weak, Klaus and Mia will take her down.
Mia tapped her nails on the steering wheel, enjoying the sounds it was making as she waited for them to get in.
"Oh we are going to bloody die." Rebekah said sitting down in the back seat, and putting on her seat belt.
"You're immortal Bex, tone it down." Mia sassed slightly offended of her jab at Mia's driving skills. Klaus took a seat in the passenger seat, making Mia a little uncomfortable as he was a ticking bomb waiting to explode.
Mia started the engine and waved one last time at Elijah and Hope before sticking the bird at Camille.
"Mia if you continue doing things like that, I might think your jealous of Nik's human lover." Rebekah said making the car ride more awkward than it is.
Mia rolled her eyes, "Be quiet! Klaus' ego is big as it is is!" Mia scolded feeling embarrassed.
"It's not that big, I just think that if I were king of the world it wouldn't be as bad as it is now." Klaus said while shrugging. "It would be a dictatorship not a democracy, look how well that turned out for every male in history." Mia said referring to the many wars that took place at the hands of a man.
"Nonsense." Klaus replied trying to defend himself before saying, "Aright fine."
Mia smirked speeding up, "Hold on ladies."

When they arrived, Mia noticed something was wrong with Klaus. He seemed to be in a good mood, for some one loosing the love of his life.
Klaus walked into his home in craving murder and chaos, along with a glass of bourbon and a kiss of Mia. He knew he couldn't have the last one, yet.
Mia walked into the room where Kol was ready to take his head off of his shoulders. "Hey...hey Mia!" Kol Yelled as he saw her take her jacket off and roll up her sleeves.
"You dare stand against us and harm a little girl?!" Mia asked, wrapping her hand around his throat.
"It isn't me! Mother is-"
Mia tightened her grip watching as his face turned red, "Kol, we were supposed to be family! Always and forever! If you want to live, you will side with us." Mia said not giving him an option.
Kol nodded the best he could, taking in a big breathe when she let him go. "You could have just said that!" He yelled annoyed with her.
"Great we've got you on board now let's move onto Finn. Come along Mia." Klaus said escorting her to the other room while shooting Kol a wink.
Finn was chained to a wall, his arms aching from the position. The doors swung open and it revealed the person the eldest vampire didn't want to see.
"Mia."
The brunette made her way over to him clenching her jaw as she swung her hand as if to slap him but instead it was her nails making contact with his skin making him bleed.
"Finn."
The tied up original hissed in pain, "I see you've side with Klaus. No surprise there." He said angry.
Mia rolled her eyes, "I'd side with the devil if he was trying to take out your mother." Mia replied grabbed his face bringing it closer to her.
"You will stop this nonsense-" Mia was cut off when the doors swung open to reveal Klaus. "Yes?" Mia asked annoyed.
"A word please."
Mia let Finn go before making her way to Klaus closing the door behind them. "It happens tonight." He whispered making Mia nod her head.
"We can discuss the plan in detail in the study. There is something I need your help with." Klaus said walking upstairs, Mia followed closely behind.
Mia pouted a drink, for herself and looked at Klaus. "Here's what we are going to do, After you do a locator spell, Rebekah will go see her and in doing so she will give us the chance to take her down in her moment of weakness." Klaus summarized before sitting down.
"But before we do that we need to keep her in that body."
Mia nodded slowly, "Give me the spells." Mia mumbled pouring herself another drink as she finished the first.
He nodded reaching behind her, his face dangerously close. "Nikalus." Mia warned feeling the classic butterflies in her stomach.
"Just reaching behind you love." Klaus Mumbled his eyes darting from her lips to her eyes. He finally pulled back with the old book of spells and mentally praised himself for having the strength to do that.
"Study them, I'll go get you what you need in the meantime." Klaus said getting up and walking out the door. After he left, Mia let out a big sigh as she flipped through the pages.
"What am I going to do without you." She mumbled thinking of Klaus.

After many failed attempts with the spells and a few accidental fires, the plan was in motion and now it was up to Rebekah and Kol to finish the plan.
Klaus and Mia were hidden in a cramped up space, she had offered to serve as backup if the plan went side ways.
"Where are you going?" He asked, making Mia glare at him. "We are in the middle of murdering your mom Nikalus hush!"
He smirked, "Tell me where you're going and I'll hush." He said using his fingers to seal his lips.
Oh those lips, Mia thought.
"Paris! France, and Rome maybe England because I'm a sucker for men with accents. I'll mostly focus on humanitarian works wherever they need me the most." Mia said summarizing her carefully laid out plan.
Klaus smiled, "Of course the humanitarian work. Should you go to England, I'll begin to think that you're finding my replacement." Klaus joked, with a serious and almost threatening tone.
Mia smirked, "Of course that's why I'm going." Mia whispered leaning down towards his face. "I love those accents."
Klaus growled and said nothing, biting his tongue. Mia smiled triumphantly and focused at the task at hand. They heard Rebekah yells through the tomb they were in and they immediately broke out getting ready for batttle.
"Mother stop the spell!" Rebekah yelled feeling sick.
Mia and Klaus emerged from the shadows, "Stop the spell. You and your traitorous son." Klaus said tired of Kol.
Mia glared her fangs at Kol, "Mia! Nik! I didn't know anything about it I swear!" Kol said making Mia clench her jaw.
"Oh good, I'm glad you are all friends again. Hello Amelia." Esther said making her turn.
Mia glared at her, "Stop the spell Esther, or I swear to you death will be more agonizing than your children walking the earth." Mia threatened feeling power surge through her body.
"I'm afraid that's impossible." Esther said in a careless tone. Mia looked at Klaus with wide eyes, "Stop it Esther. Take me instead." Klaus said wanting nothing more than for the two most important women in his life to come out of this alive.
"If only you've taken my offer when it was mine to give. Unfortunately you left me no choice than to make an offer with Mikael." Esther replied making Mia's heart pace increase.
"Mikael?" She imminently took place next to Klaus holding his hand. Esther noticed this and chuckled, "Oh Mia, still a foolish little girl."
Klaus remained with a straight face, "What have you done mother?"
"When Kol and Finn went missing I needed an ally. All he wanted was the right to kill you." Esther said as if the death of her son was nothing.
Klaus, overwhelmed, turns away from them to think. Mia continued to hold his hand giving him strength and keeping his mind at peace for the time being.
"Kol, I would ask you to deliver the stake to your father, but it seems your loyalties have been compromised." The witch said
As the hour glass continues to empty itself onto one side, Mia looks at Kol. A few grains were left before time was up, "Now!" Mia Yelled using magic to grab a knife from the table bringing it back to herself and giving it to Klaus.
Klaus stabs Esther in the neck with it. Esther falls to the floor, dead, just as the rest of the sand leaves the hourglass. Klaus looks as though he can't believe what he's just done.
Mia speeds to catch Rebekah's body before it hits the cold ground. Klaus helps her carry the body home.
Cami has been laid in an armchair in the courtyard, where Davina is sitting at her side, gently brushing her hair off her face. Klaus returns to the compound a moment later, carrying Rebekah's body, which he lays on the couch. In the next room, Marcel has gone to check on Finn, only to find that the lock has been ripped off of his coffin, whose lid is open to reveal that it is empty. Back in the courtyard, Davina explains to Klaus what has happened in his absence.
"Cami isn't awake yet." Davina says looking around nervously, "there is so much power in this room..." she mumbled.
Mia grinned, "Oh that would be me." She said waving a little before looking at the mortal blonde on the armchair.
"I will have to have this seat disinfected..." Mia mumbled as she moved The hair out of her face. "She looks rough." Mia laughed at her own insult towards the therapist making everyone else in the room give her a look.
"How have you been Davina?" Mia asked while pouring herself a drink before offering on to the blonde on the couch. Before Davina could answer, Marcel runs into the room.
"When she's up, we gotta get her out of the Quarter. She's not safe here. Someone busted Finn out!"
"Oh my son." Mia sighed finishing her glass.
Klaus sighs, "My mother is using Mikael to do her dirty work now."
Suddenly, Cami awakens with a gasp, and everyone turns to her in concern. Well everyone expect Mia.
Cami looks around and takes in her surroundings for a moment before realizing that the spell worked.
"Cami?" Davina asked.
The blonde smiled, "I suddenly love that stupid name."
Davina laughs in relief and hugs her. Klaus and Marcel both smile weakly, and turn to check on Rebekah, who is still unconscious. Marcel sits down next to Rebekah and caresses her face with his hand. After a moment, when Rebekah hasn't awakened, Klaus sighs in realization.
"I couldn't stop the spell." Klaus mumbled feeling like a failure which was something extremely rare for the hybrid.
Klaus grabs Mias hand and takes off. Marcel, scared, shouts after him, "Please tell me that your mother's dead!"
Klaus turns back toward Marcel before he leaves, "Mia and I took extra precautions. Esther is exactly where she needs to be." He said before leaving.
As they walked outside, Mia's car was brought out by a compelled driver. "This is my stop." Mia mumbled letting go of his hand. Klaus shakes his head, "We aren't done-"
"We are. Nikalus you don't need me anymore, at least not for now. I feel it, and I've dreamt it. A new threat is coming and I can't afford to be a weakness for you. You need to do what's best for your baby!" Mia said softly as she lost herself in his cold blue eyes.
Klaus looked at her with a painful expression, "Tell me you love me." He whispered grabbing her face. "Nik..." Mia tried not wanting to say it as it would be harder for her to leave.
"Say it."
Mia debated for a second before kissing his cheek, "I love you-"
Klaus grabbed the dagger he hid and plunged it into her heart making her scream. "Nik.." she gasped for air and felt her skin begin to dedicate slowly.
"I'm sorry, but you can't leave me." He cried holding her as she fell. "Please..." Mia whispered wanting him to take it out.
"I'm sorry." Klaus whispered watching as she took her last breathe for some time. He told the driver to take her to her coffin, and he watched as the car left.
Not knowing the side effects of the dagger nor the immense pain the love of his life was currently in.
