Hey FP, how is he?" I asked when he opened the door.
"Better, come on in" he spoke. I walked through the door with Pop's for breakfast.
"I bought you some food" I said and got out his usual order.
"You still remember huh?" he asked.
"Of course. I learnt it off by heart" I giggled making him smile.
"You can go and see him" he spoke. I nodded and took Jugheads food upstairs and knocked on his bedroom door.
"Come in" he called. I opened the door and saw him in bed with the covers half over him so you could see his bare chest.
"I thought you were my dad" he spoke when he saw me.
"I might be able to do a good impression of him but I certainly don't look like him" I laughed making him chuckle.
"Anyways, I bought you breakfast" I spoke handing him the bag.
"You didn't have to"
"I wanted to" I said simply.
"So...you actually have your own bedroom" I spoke.
"Yeah, although I kinda miss my old tin can trailer sometimes" he chuckled. There was an awkward silence for a while and he finished his food before laying back down properly.
"Umm... I'll leave you in peace. See you in school I guess" I said and got up to leave.
"Wait" I heard. I turned around and looked at him confused.
"Stay"
"Jug-"
"Please, just for a few minutes. I'm meant to be getting rest but I can't sleep" he sighed. I nodded and walked back over.
"Can you uhh..." he spoke but I just gave him a look of confusion. He just sighed and held out his arms gesturing for us to cuddle. I smiled and shook my head.
"And I was told you were all badass now" I giggled.
"Shut up" he said smirking. I giggled and got into bed with him, he layed his head on my stomach and I played with his hair; he was asleep in a matter of minutes.
FPs POV
I decided to check in and knocked on the door.
"Come in" Betty whispered. I opened the door and saw Jughead asleep laying his head on Betty's stomach. I smiled and shook my head.
"He's a big softy really" I chuckled.
"Too right."
"Thanks" I spoke.
"For what?" She asked oblivious.
"For coming back into his life. He expected you to hate and ignore him but you've come back and still care and love him"
"Of course I do."
"He's off the rails. I know you can get through to him Betty, you have to. He's smoking, drinking, sleeping around, skipping school and not even coming home at night. The only thing he's doing well at is being serpent king. I don't want him to end up like me" I sighed.
"I'll try FP" she spoke whilst running her hand through his hair.
"Please do. I don't know what else I can do" I sighed. She nodded and I walked out.
Jughead's POV
I opened my eyes to a sensational feeling of Betty running her hand through my hair.
"Mhhmm" I sighed.
"Hey Juggie" she giggled making my heart melt. God I missed that nickname and the giggle was a bonus.
"Hey Betts" I said lifting my head off her stomach so my face was now super close to her that I could feel her breath on my skin.
"Good sleep?"
"Very" I exclaimed, searching her face.
"So um.." she started but I interrupted by crashing my lips against hers. She melted into it and grabbed my face for a few seconds before she pulled away.
"What's wrong?" I asked. If she didn't want it then why did she kiss back?
"I...I'm sorry" she spoke and left my room. I groaned and fell back on my bed. Fuck my life.
*Betty's first day back at school*
Betty's POV
I sat at the front of class with Veronica trying to ignore all the stares and whispers when Jughead walked in 20 minutes late.
"Jughead, detention this Saturday for being late all week" the teacher spoke.
"Sorry I won't be able to make it."
"If you don't it will roll over to a two week detention"
"Afraid I won't be able to attend that either" he said. The teacher sighed as he walked to the back and sat with his mates. I looked back and earned a stone cold look.
They spent the whole lesson talking and throwing things and cursing at the teacher. As soon as it was lunch we walked to the cafeteria and sat down.
"I don't even recognise him anymore" I said upset.
"He actually spoke to me the other day though, he seemed happier" Archie said before eating a chip.
"That's my fault"
"Why?" Kevin, Cheryl and Veronica asked in unison.
"He was really happy because he thought we had a chance but then we kissed and I kissed him back but then pulled away"
"Why did you pull away?" Veronica asked.
"I don't even know. I was just scared"
"Betty! Go get your man!" Kevin shouted.
"Shut up!" I shouted when I saw Jugheads head whip round and look at us. He was smoking a cigarette and sat in the corner with his serpents. I sighed and looked down when his friends started cursing across the cafeteria to random people.
3 weeks later
"Veronica, is it true you slept with Chuck?" Ethel squealed sitting next to us.
"What?" She shouted.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"That's what he's saying"
"That dick. Where is he?"
"They've just finished gym V. They'll be in the changing rooms"
"That's where we are going then" Veronica said standing up.
"No! I'm not going in there"
"Yes you are Betty. I need my back up" she said and dragged me to the changing rooms. I tried to cover my eyes as we walked through and reached Chuck.
"You dick" she screamed alerting everyone. Archie ran over to her alarmed.
"Babe, what's wrong?" he asked.
"Chuck is saying Veronica slept with him" I explained.
"Shut it Cooper" Chuck said causing Jughead to now walk over. He was shirtless and I could see one of his tattoos on the right side of his toned chest. I couldn't help but bite my lip and blush red.
"Don't speak to her like that Chuck" Jughead spoke, clenching his fists.
"Tell them it's a lie!" Veronica shouted.
"It's true baby you know it" he replied.
"Don't you dare" Archie growled.
"Chuck just admit it for god's sake, so I can get out of here" I groaned.
"Fuck off slut" he scoffed. I could handle the names but Jughead clearly couldn't as he punched Chuck in the face. Chuck punched back but Jughead ducked in time before they both ended up tackling eachother on the floor.
"Jughead stop!" I screamed but he ignored me. I'd never seen him like this.
"Please!" I cried and now Archie had joined in.
"BOYS!" Principal Weatherbee shouted. They pulled off of eachother and Jughead wiped his bloody nose.
"GET TO MEDICAL AND THEN TO MY OFFICE" he shouted and stormed away. Chuck stormed out and Archie went off but Veronica stayed by my side.
"Jug" I whispered reaching to his bloody face.
"I'm fine Betty" he spoke.
"But-"
"I SAID IM FINE!" he shouted angrily. Tears pricked my eyes and I ran away sobbing.
Veronicas POV
"Nice one Jughead" I scoffed and ran after Betty. I found her sobbing in the blue and gold and immediately hugged her.
"Ignore him B" I said and shushed her.
"It's all my fault" she sobbed.
"No it's not" I spoke sternly.
"Yes, yes it is! I did this to him! He acts like this because I said I hated him, then told him it was a lie then kissed him and then pulled away and rejected him! I'm messing with his feelings and now he hates me and I hate myself and it's all my fault!!!" She screamed startling me.
"No...it's not" I heard. I turned to see Jughead stood in the doorway and Betty looked at him differently, almost like she was scared.
"Jughead this isn't a good time" I spoke.
"Please...just let me talk to her for 5 minutes. Then I'll leave I swear" he promised. I nodded and hugged Betty.
"I'll be outside the door. Come get me if you need me" I whispered and she nodded.
Betty's POV
Veronica closed the door behind her and I wiped my tears although they were just being replaced with new ones.
"You can't blame yourself" he spoke.
"Come off it Jughead. We both know you hate me"
"For the last time I don't hate you! I've loved you for so long it physically hurts. It's a pain that's will always be worse than any punch, kick or black eye because it's the pain of knowing I can't have you. I loved and still love you Betty but I'm not the same guy anymore. I'm some drunk, smoking gang leader. I don't do it because I want to, I hate it but I do it to get away from reality. I do it because I'm a pathetic lowlife. I don't deserve anything" he spoke sitting down on the table.
"See that's the thing Jughead. The thing I can't understand. You say you love me yet I don't believe a word you say"
"Yes I do! You pulled away so I gave up!"
"I was scared! I am scared... Not of you but of us. I don't want to hurt you Juggie, I don't want to break you again."
"For fuck sake Betty I'm already broke."
"No, no you're not, you're just lost."
"I'm gonna regret saying this because I know you don't feel the same way but... I need you. I know it's impossible but I really need you. You're the one thing that keeps me sane, if you're not here I'm reckless."
"Jug, I do feel the same way. You need to stop saying that.
"What's the point?" he spoke.
"Huh?"
"Why does it matter? Why the fuck should I care? No one else seems to" he spoke. I walked over to him desperately and put my hand on his knee.
"Don't say that" I spoke. He didn't respond and I couldn't help but look down to his lips. We were so close and I could feel his breath on mine so I decided that I had nothing to lose. I leaned in and crashed my lips against his in which he returned it. This time he pulled away first and looked into my eyes, searching my face.
"J-"
"Shh" he said and crashed our lips back together. I smiled against his lips as he moved further back onto the table and I jumped up into his lap, not breaking the kiss, and wrapped my legs around him.
"Betty- OMG" Veronica shouted. We pulled apart and I turned my head.
"KEVIN KELLER" she screamed and Kevin rushed in.
"FINALLY" Kevin screeched and probably ran to tell the whole school. I looked back to Jughead lovingly and smiled at him before pecking his lips.
"You wanna face Chuck together?" he asked putting his hand on my thigh.
"Wait, what are we?" I asked.
"Betts I still love you like I did when we were together. But if you want to take things slow and go from the beginning-"
"No, I want to be your girlfriend again" I interrupted.
"Then so be it Juliet" he whispered making me giggle.
3rd person
The couple came together and mended eachothers broken hearts. Jughead managed to cut out smoking in a year and kept his panic attacks at bay most of the time. Betty kept her depression under control with the help of her friends and Jughead. It's safe to say that both needed eachother to rebuild their lives and start fresh. They would never be perfect but they were happy and that's all that mattered.
