Song for the chapter:  Melanie Martinez- Cry Baby

I woke up on my own accord, feeling the evil thrive.

"Lets go." I mumbled, eyes closed, still laying in bed. I kicked the covers off. "I'm ready."

"If you say so." His hand slid over my waist, pulling me into him.

"Ah!" I gasped, now really awake. He placed me down gently, feeling the soft grass under my bare feet and legs. The weather here was slightly warmer. It was dark but there were hundreds of stars, millions decorating the night sky. "Wow." I whispered looking all around the sky, trying to capture the beauty of it all.

I rubbed my eyes to clean them of sleep, trying to see if I was still dreaming. This is crazy.

A pond next to me, reflected the stars, making it feel as if I was in space. The feeling was surreal, I've never seen something so ethereal.

"The crops, Babygirl." Jason reminded me.

"Oh." I mumbled running blindly into the trees, trying to pinpoint where the evil is. My feet running on top of small items, embedding into my skin. All I was wearing just a pair of short shorts and a tight cropped long sleeve shirt. Definitely should have taken shoes before leaving, at least socks....

Turning my head back and forth all of it was just the blinding darkness.  The only thing guiding me was the evil aura.

"Its a demon." Jason grabbed my hand, stopping me in my tracks.

"Why are you stopping me?" I whispered. The sound of crickets were loud enough to cover our words.

"Its dark, Babygirl. You can't see it..." He tugged my hand, pulling me into him. "But it can see you." His words sent chills through my body, sparking fear into me. "You're being hunted."

Jason dragged me, running in front of me, guiding me. Once again, his speed and stature made me struggle to keep up.

"Jason!" I hissed.

He was going too fast and with no shoes, it hurt! I was stepping over rocks, bugs, branches, even some squishy substance.

He stopped making me literally pass him and fall flat on my face. I was so focused on hauling ass that I didn't feel him stop.

"I was going to tell you to duck but that's good too, Baby." Jason laughed, picking me by my waist to run again.

I could hear the crashes of trees breaking, and leaves rustling behind me. It was catching up!

Anxiety taking over making me run faster, just running behind Jason.

"Its getting close!" I yelled.

I felt the abrupt change in direction making me stumble.  The tug of Jason's hand snatching me up, and forcing me to run.

"Whats a matter warrior? Scared?" The demon taunted. Its voice finally giving me a general idea of where it was.

Above me.

The area Jason was running through started getting thicker with foliage. Leaves and branches slapping my face and body.

The darkness wasn't lighting up in the slightest. It was all just pure black, making it seem fake almost. Not being able to see was definitely blurring the lines of reality.

"GET DOWN!" Jason roughly pushed me down. "Ughhh!" Jason grunted. There was shuffling, sound of fighting but they were going away from me. Eventually being drowned into the noise of the insects. Leaving me completely lost and vulnerable.

Just to be safe, I summoned my sword, hoping to be ready. My environment was against me, I had to get back to open field so I could at least have some light from the stars.

I ran back the way we came from. At least tried...

I kept running into trees, hitting myself on everything, and tripping over fallen wood.

This isn't working. I looked up, hoping to see some stars or the moon, something but it was absolutely useless. The woods were far too dense. There was no source of light- nothing!

This isn't good, if the demon doesn't kill me I'm sure one of the hundred animals in the woods would happily do the job.

Fuck what do I do?

I can't hear anything over the insistent insects. I can't see or hear.

Great, just great! It's not like I needed those senses or anything. Might as well just take my other senses at this point because they aren't helping.

What can I do?!

Mmmm....

Trying to feel for the evilness, I followed a slow path, arms extended. This could work. I cringed, feeling the malevolent energy bouncing all over the place. I couldn't keep track of it, eventually losing its presence.

Damn it! Where is it!? I'm panicking, I need to calm down. Getting angry isn't helping. I whined softly, feeling the sweat drip down my neck. I can't find it!

In that same second, a wave of malignant energy hit me.

It's behind me!

But it was too late...

"Ah!" I winced. The demon had sliced my left leg. I dropped my sword, falling down on my knees, checking my dripping wound. I could feel the hot blood run down to my bare feet. Before I could even take a second to breathe there was another attack slicing into my skin just as fast as it disappeared. This time it was my right forearm.

The wounds- they burn! It hurts so much! I can barely move! It's going to kill me! I can't even lift my arm but I feel it. I feel it coming toward me!

Something giant fell through the trees, making the trees break. It was big enough to create a intense gush of wind. There was screeching, not sure if it was an animals or the demons.

"Ah!" I screamed. My left arm. There was burning spreading through my body, feeling as if I was on fire. "Ahhhh!" I cried in pain. Blood dripped down both my hands. The all too familiar feeling of pain started to fill my veins. I know this pain, I felt this not too long ago and it hurts just as bad.

"Serenity!" Jason yelled, the unsteadiness in his voice signaling me he was fighting. "I'll bring him to you, just get the sword!" Jason's voice cut through the white noise catching my full attention as if he was the only one here.

"I can't!" I cried. "I CAN'T! AHHH!!!" My head was being twisted, tortured, set in flames. I dropped completely onto the ground lifeless, panting.

"GET THE FUCKING SWORD!" Jason demanded. Somehow his anger had a stronger effect than the searing pain shooting up my limbs. I didn't have to see him to know the rage engulfing his body.

I breathed out, trying to sit back up. Shaking in pain, I pushed my body up, sitting on my butt. My arms are damn near immobile, I don't know how he expects me to do this.

"Jason, I don't know if- if I can-"

"SERENITY!" Jason growled. The demons grunts and screeching were loud, coming from the same direction of Jason's voice.

"Seereennittyy..." The demon laughed before being cut off and returning to its struggling noises.

Clenching my teeth, I forced my hands together. Grunting, every time the fabric of my sleeves would brush against the wound. My breathing was loud, breathing through the pain to summon this sword. Meeting my hands, a wave of energy passed me as my sword emerged in between my hands. A sob slipped my lips, crying as the light weight of the sword intensified the pain.

"Kill it." Jason said now in front of me.

The monstrous noises now directly in front of me. Breathing roughly to the point I fell it against my legs. Soft winds coming from its constant struggle against Jason, roughly showing how it big it was.

"Kill me, Kill me." The demon laughed. Chills ran through me from its cynical tone just inches away.

I clenched my teeth so hard my jaw was starting to sting but even that couldn't help the whimper that escaped as I lifted my trembling arms as high as I could.

"You'll die with me." It sang before laughing. My sword pierced through its head cutting the taunt short.

I dropped my hands, not even able to speak. Clenching my teeth was helping me keep it together.

"Good job, Babygirl." Jason kissed my forehead. He was trying to soothe me but I could hear the panic in his voice.

Quick but careful, he picked me up, taking me back home. My bathroom specifically.

The light made me close my eyes, it was too harsh. He sat me on the sink counter.

I focused on the wall behind Jason, trying to keep myself calm while tears slid down my face. I felt his hands on my arms and legs but didn't acknowledge it. If I open my mouth, I'll start screaming...screaming uncontrollably and erratically.

It wasn't until he ripped my top that I met his gaze, wondering what the hell he is doing...

"Just wait, Babygirl. Almost there." He kissed my forehead.

His shirt was ripped viciously, hair messy yet still attractive. The loose jeans he had on now ripped and muddied. The belt was broken, hanging apart, letting his pants hang low on his hips.

Pulling the shirt from my arms, scrapped 6 inch long cuts. I flinched at the unexpected contact.

Ahhhhhh!!!!

Clenching my teeth, I breathed deeply. My nose twitching in pain.

"Sorry, Baby. Sorry." He kissed my cheek. He was panicking, he was rushing too fast, making his actions messy. He held the ruined shirt in his hands, setting it on fire to burn into nothing but dust.

Not even being gentle, he grabbed my thighs roughly. Putting me into the bath tub, I sighed, letting my head fall back to rest on the wall.

He turned the faucets, cold water filling the tub.

I lifted my wounds to gently rest without touching or rubbing against anything.

The cold water brought ease to my wounds, making them bearable. I took a deep breath, finally relaxing. I looked down at my body.

Sitting in my bra and shorts, hands bright red from the blood running down them. Same with my left leg, the blood had streamed down leaving my foot absolutely red aside from the dirt on them. Something in the cut on my arm caught my attention, it was black.

I looked at Jason who slipped a hand in the water, whispering.

"AAAHHHHH!!!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

My wounds were burning!

It hurt so much!

I can't stay in here!

I have to get ooutt!

I need to get out! I need to get out!

Jason placed his hand on my chest, keeping me from escaping or moving.

"Jason!" I whimpered. "AAAAHHHHHHH!!!" I thrashed around, completely incapable of staying in the water for another second.

LET ME OUT!

PLEASE!

LET ME OUT!

SOMEONE PLEASE!

GET ME OUT!

"Easy, Baby, easy." He frowned, it hurt him seeing me like this too.

The water started bubbling, sizzling. Steam eventually filling the room.

"I can't."  I mumbled through my cries. My entire body trembled.

My body felt like it was being stabbed with knives, knives being dragged up and down, violently.

I dug my nails into Jason's hand, trying to push myself out the water.

"There." He sighed.

The burning stopped all at once.

The pain was gone...

I took a deep breath, going completely limp.

The knives were gone, the burning was gone.

Jason's hand pulled away from my chest, as I laid there curling into a ball.

The shaking was still there. I don't think I could stop if I wanted to.

"You're okay, Babygirl." He picked me up from the tub, sitting me once again on the counter. "You're okay." He repeated. Maybe to ease me or himself. I don't know.

He lifted my chin.

Looking at my eyes to check if I was okay.

His eyes, expression were worried, still panicked. Is there still something wrong with me? He doesn't look relaxed or composed at all.

Dropping his hands to my shoulders, I gasped at the sudden lightheaded feeling I got, only lasting a second.

I looked down to my body.

Clean. Not a trace of mud or blood on me. Instantly feeling refreshed.

My clothes. My high wasted shorts that were dripping wet a moment ago were now dry and bright. The shirt that was disintegrated was now softly on me. Smelling like my perfume.

He lifted me up, taking me to my bed. The bed I left just an hour ago.

"Rest, Serenity." He kissed my forehead.

He laid in bed with me, cradling my body.
