Juliet's POV
It was Halloween, and it was 6:30 in the morning.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen spider webs and guys in weird outfits come in and out of the apartment building, and I saw all that in January.
Anyways, I was putting all the candy in bowls when someone knocked on my door. I opened it.
"Trick or treat!" A little girl in a witch costume said. I let her take her candy.
"Thank you!" She smiled, and I closed the door.
"One down, many more to go." Matt laughed.
"You need to help me. I'm not doing this by myself."
Once again, my mom was in the hospital, working the night shift.
"Of course you are." Matt said.
"Stop being lazy and help me!" I whined.
He rolled his eyes, got up, and stood next to the bowl of candy.
"Thank you.." I smiled as I relaxed on the couch.
"Your welcome." He said as he went on his phone.
Someone knocked on the door.
"Trick or treat!" I heard someone say.
"Nice costume! Here have some candy." Matt said.
"Thank you!" That person said and Matt closed the door.
"I actually like this." Matt said.
"Then you don't mind doing this for a while?" I said.
"No, I do mind." He said as he joined me on the couch.
I laughed.
Then someone knocked on the door.
"You'll get it." Matt and I said at the same time.
"Fine, I'll get it." I said as I got up, went to the door.
It was Aaron, carrying a baby.
"Oh my god, who's this?" I said.
"It's my nephew, Greyson. We're here to get candy right before I go to school." He said.
I gave him a handful of candy.
"Here, I have a lot more candy, anyways." I said.
"Thanks. I'll see you in school!" He waved as I shut the door.
I walked back over to the couch and sat down.
"You're not going to school in your costume?" Matt asked.
"Nope. Why? Is there something wrong with my outfit?" I said as I looked down at my outfit.
I was wearing an Arctic Monkeys shirt, a flannel tied around my waist, and ripped jeans.
"You just seem like you'd be the type of girl that would wear your costume. But be careful. People like to pull pranks on other people that aren't in the spirit." Matt said.
"But you're not in the spirit."
"People don't mess with me."
"That's true." I said as I grabbed my things, and followed Matt out the door.
We went down to the subway and walked to The Coffee Shop.
I got my usual and so did Matt, and we walked to school. We went our separate ways, and I went to my locker.
Every girl was walking down the hallway with really short skirts and shirts cut low to show their boobs.
It was really sickening to watch.
And it looks like I was the only girl not in costume.
I opened my locker and someone shoved me against it.
"Look who's being the freak show?" Melanie said.
She's back bitches.
"Melanie, I'm glad you're back. I like your costume. I especially like your scary mask." I smiled.
"But I don't have a mask on." She said.
"Exactly." I said as I grabbed my stuff and left.
I walked into homeroom, and thought that the rest of this day is going to be so fantastic...

"Hello class. Please hand in your Fall projects." Mrs. Smith said.
We all passed them to the front.
She looked through them, placing certain ones on the desk behind her.
She picked out 5.
"I really like the ones I picked out. Surprisingly, Nash took one I liked." She joked as the class laughed.
"Anyways, I think I picked a winner. In 5th place the winner is Brianna." She said as she held up a photo of Brianna covered in scarves.
Everyone clapped.
"The 4th place winner is Cameron." She held up a photo of Cameron on Halloween in a maze. He was dressed in his costume.
"In 3rd place, Nash."
She held up a photo of the busy streets of New York. Everyone clapped and Nash bowed.
"In 2nd place, Juliet."
I was surprised, but everyone clapped.
Nash patted me on the back.
"And in first place, Jacob! The winner of the gift card!" Mrs. Smith said.
Jacob got up, and everyone cheered and clapped.
"I wouldn't have done it without you!" Jacob patted me on the back.
"Have fun with that gift card." I smiled, because I knew exactly who he was taking.

They were giving away pumpkin shaped cookies, and of course, I took one.
I walked to my table. I was the first one there.
Everyone was coming to the table when I felt water being splashed on top of me.
"You aren't in the spirit." Melanie laughed.
Hayes went up to her.
"Leave my girlfriend alone." Hayes said.
"You don't want her." Melanie said.
"I want her more than you want me." Hayes said. She huffed and walked away.
"I'm so sorry." Hayes said.
"It's okay." I put a fake smile on.
"No, it's not. Let's go get you dried off." Hayes said as we walked to the janitors closet.
He patted me with a towel.
"You need to change." Hayes laughed.
"I have no clothes besides my gym uniform, which is hideous." I said.
"Here, I'll give you my sweatshirt." Hayes said.
He took off his sweatshirt and I put it on.
"Thanks for defending me." I smiled.
"You're my girlfriend and I should act like a nice boyfriend." He smiled as we walked hand and hand to the cafeteria.
Everyone was staring at me.
"Did I do something bad?" I said.
"No, I think it's me." Hayes said.
"What do you mean?"
We looked down at our hands.
Hayes never had "official" girlfriends, and one would never be me.
We walked to the table, still hand in hand. I heard people whispering.
"She's over her head."
"He's just going to break her heart."
"That's the last girl I'd expect him to date."
"He'll get in her pants in a couple of days."
Tears were brimming in my eyes-I think I was hyperventilating.
"Juliet? Are you okay?" Hayes grabbed me by the shoulder.
My head spun around the room. All eyes were on me.
I hated this attention.
My head was getting hot, and I felt the tears rolling down my face.
I think I was getting a panic attack.
"I-I-I..." I stuttered.
Then he looked around the room.
"Don't worry about them. Just look at me," he said as he made me look at his beautiful blue eyes, "Taylor!" He continued.
"Food fight!" Taylor yelled as Hayes tried to lead me out of the room.
Mash potatoes were flying by my face, and a milk carton hit me in the head.
We went out of the cafeteria, and sat down in the hallway.
"Are you okay?" Hayes asked.
"This day couldn't get any worse. I can't even see you after school, and I'm grounded at home." I cried.
"I'm...sorry. I'll try and make it up to you." Hayes said.
"How?" I said.
"You'll see. I promise." Hayes said.
The bell rang.
"I'll see you. Just text me." He kissed my cheek and we went our separate ways.

It was 9 o'clock, and Matt and I were sitting on the couch, watching movies.
The door bell rang.
"Please make it stop!" I whined.
"Can't handle it?" Matt smiled.
"Yes!" I sighed.
Matt got up, grabbed the candy bowl, and went to the front door.
He gave the candy to the kids and went back to the couch.
"Why don't we just leave the candy bowl at the front door and tell people to only take two?" Matt asked.
"Because stupid kids will take the whole bowl." I rolled my eyes.
The doorbell rang again.
"You know what? Maybe that isn't a bad idea." I said as I got up, gave the candy to the kids, and closed the door.
I waited until they left to put the bowl in front of my door with a note that said, "please take one! Or whatever."
I walked back to the couch.
"This is going to be so boring." I rubbed my head.
"It's not going to be so bad." Matt said.
"It could be."
The movie was over, and the credits were rolling.
"We could go out to the Halloween festival." Matt said.
"Absolutely not."
"Fine, let's watch one more movie then crash early." Matt said.
I agreed, and we watched 13 ghosts.
By the time the movie ended, it was midnight.
"Okay, goodnight Juliet." Matt said as he went to his room.
"Goodnight." I said as I went back to my room.
I closed my eyes, and let sleep take over.
