Chapter Twenty Three
I was asleep, but I could hear my phone going off.
Someone was calling me. I looked at the caller ID and it was Maisie.
"Hello?" I said.
"Heyy youu..sorry did I wake you up?" Maisie said.
"It's okay, I had to get up anyway. So what you up to beautiful?" I asked.
"Nothing much, just talking to some boy, you?" Maisie asked.
"Who, why?" I asked worriedly. But I heard Maisie laughing.
"I'm on about you, you idiot!" Maisie said whilst laughing.
"Oh, haha." I said awkwardly.
"Are you okay Ash?" Maisie questioned.
"Yeah, I guess." I replied.
"Aww, what's up, come tell Dr. Jones." Maisie said in a posh way.
I started to laugh.
"See, all better now." Maisie said.
"Not really." I said.
"Aw, come round then. Everyone's out..apart from me and Loge." Maisie said. I froze.
"Who?" I asked.
"Me and Loge, you know, Logan, yeah, we kinda pushed past the past and had a new start." Maisie said.
"I thought you hate him Mai?" I asked.
"I did, I just want to forget the past." She said.
"Oh, okay." I said.
"Come on Ash, come round, then you can tell me what's up." Maisie said.
"Fine, I'll come round soon." I said.
"Okie dokie, cya in a bit mate." Maisie said in an Australian accent.
I laughed. "I have to admit Mai, you sure have picked up our accent quick."
"Haah, why thanks, its as if I'm not British anymore." Maisie said whilst laughing.
She really does know how to cheer me up.

I hope Maisie answers the door.
Nope.
Logan had to open the door.
"Hi, is Maisie in?" I asked sounding so stupid, of course she'll be in, it's her house.
"Hey, yeah, she's in the kitchen." Logan said.
I walked in awkwardly and saw Maisie trying to reach something.
"Need a hand?" I asked whilst laughing.
"Yes please." Maisie said. She got down and pointed to what she wanted.
I reached up and got what she wanted.
"Thanks Ash." Maisie said whilst giving me a quick kiss.
"I'll be in the living room." Logan blurted out.
What's his problem?
"Ash, follow me." Maisie said.
I nodded and followed her up to her room.
"Ash. What's up?" Maisie asked.
"Nothing." I said.
"You sure, you know you can tell me, right?" Maisie asked.
"I s-saw you with Logan last night." I blurted out.
"What d'you mean?" Maisie asked.
"Last night. I saw you talking and then hugging Logan." I said.
"Ohhh, that was when me and Loge had a little argument, and then made up." Maisie said.
"Ohhh, that makes sense." I said.
"What do you mean?" Maisie asked.
"I thought there was something going on between you and him." I said.
"Aww, is Ashton jealous?" Maisie teased.
"No." I said.
"Aww, you are." Maisie said whilst poking my cheeks.
"Am not." I said whilst lightly swinging her around and hugging her on her bed.
"Are too." Maisie said.
"F-fine, I was." I protested.
"Aww." Maisie said whilst cupping my cheeks and kissing me.
"Why did you think that? I like you, silly." Maisie said whilst sitting on top of me.
"It's just that you've known Logan for a long time, and I thought..yeah." I said shyly.
"Aww, just because I've known him for a long time, doesn't mean I like him Ash." Maisie said.
"Good to hear." I said whilst laughing.
"Come on, let's go downstairs." Maisie said.
"Do we have to? I like it here?" I moaned.
Maisie slowly went on top of me. "You really want to stay here?" She said.
"Yes." I said.
She leaned closer to me and kissed me. I flipped her around so now I was on top of her.
I slowly gave small kisses up along her neck and then connecting back to her lips.
Maisie moaned slightly. "Ash-" she said.
"Ssh!" I said whilst continuing to kiss her.
I got back up and slowly pulled Maisies top up. But I didn't pull it off, as I saw that mark on her waist again.
"Maisie?" I asked.
"Mhm." Maisie said.
"What's that?" I said whilst poking it.
She started to laugh. "Don't do that, it tickles." Maisie said.
"Sorry, but what is it?" I asked whilst laughing.
"It's just a birthmark, nothing special." Maisie said.
"But what about the one here?" I said whilst touching her hip.
"That one I don't know. I've always had it, but not always, I only remember having it after staying round my aunties. But it's lasted since then." Maisie said.
"That's weird." I said.
"I know." Maisie said.
"We better go down stairs." Maisie said.
"But I like this." I said.
"I like it too, but we better give Loge some company." Maisie said.
"You're such a nice person Mai." I said whilst getting up.
We both got up and we walked back down to the living room.
"Heyy Loge!" Maisie said whilst jumping next to Logan.
"Heyy MJ!" Logan said.
And yepp, I stood there like an awkward potato.
Maisie motioned her hands to let me know to come and sit next to her.
"Heyy Loge, can you pass me the remote please?" Maisie asked.
"Yeah sure." Logan said.
Maisie turned around and looked at me. "What do you want to watch?" She asked.
"Uhm, I've got a better idea, let's go out." I said whilst taking the remote out of her hands.
"Uhm okay, where?" Maisie questioned.
"It's a surprise." I said.
"Just you and me, or can Logan come?" Maisie whispered in my ear.
"You and me." I whispered back.
"Okay." Maisie said whilst moving away from my ear and kissing my cheek.
"Hey Loge, I'm going out for a bit." Maisie said.
"Oh, okay, I'll just stay here." Logan said. He just gave me evils. What did I do to him?

Maisie and I have been walking for a while now. But luckily the place that I'm taken her to, isn't that far, I'd say it's a 15 minute walk.
"Did you see that back there at yours?" I asked.
"See what?" Maisie said with confusion.
"Logan. He gave me evils." I said.
"Really?!" Maisie sounded shocked.
"Yeah, I haven't even done anything to him." I protested.
"Just ignore him." Maisie said.
"Anyway, where are you taking me?" She asked.
"If I told you, then it wouldn't be a surprise now, would it?" I said cheekily.
"You're so cheeky." Maisie said.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, shut your eyes." I said.
"Fine." Maisie said.
Maisie shut her eyes tightly. "Where to now?" Maisie said whilst giggling. She has the cutest giggle, it makes you want to laugh along with her.
Before I could reply to Maisie, I picked her up and carried her to the destination.
"Ashton! Put me down!" Maisie yelled.
"No." I said whilst laughing and holding onto her tighter.
"Asht-" before Mai could finish, I put her down.
"You can open your eyes now." I said.
*Maisie's POV*
Why did Ashton have to carry me? I hate it when people carry me. He just kept on laughing and holding onto me tighter whenever I asked to be out down.
"Asht-" just before I could finish saying his name, Ashton put me down. "You can open your eyes now." Ashton said.
I slowly opened my eyes, and right in front was this beautiful lake.
"Wow." Is all I could say. It was just so breath taking.
"Do you like it?" Ashton asked whilst placing his arms around my waist.
"I don't like it...I love it!" I said whilst giving Ashton a huge hug.
"Follow me, I now the best spot to be at." Ashton said whilst holding onto my hand.
We walked for a few metres and then we were half way through the lake. Not literally, but we were in the middle.
"So why did you want to take me here?" I asked. "I thought that it would be a nice place to be." Ashton said.
"You're so sweet Ashton." I said.
"I have something planned." He said.
" What is it?" I questioned.
"You have to wait and find out." Ashton teased.
"I hate surprises Ash." I said whilst laughing.
"Trust me, you'll like this one." Ashton said whilst tucking a piece of hair behind me ear.
A few hours went past. It was really fun and relaxing being with Ashton. He taught me how to skip stones. I thought it was easy, but man is it hard.
It took me like a million tries to get it right, but I can now tick off skipping stones on my bucket list!
I was about to pick up another stone to throw, but Ashton quickly took the stone out of my hand and threw it on the floor.
He pulled me close towards him.
"Look Mai." Ashton said whilst gently placing his fingers under my chin. He slowly directed my head to look to the left. And there it was.
The most amazing, outstanding, beautiful sunset ever. I could not believe my eyes. It literally looked like one of those tumblr posts of sunsets, it was just so amazing.
"This is beautiful Ash, you had this all planned?" I asked.
Ashton nodded. And that's when it happened.
Ashton slowly, but carefully placed his hands around my cheeks and started to kiss me.
I swear every time we kiss, it's like a thousand volts just comes from his body and passes through mine. It was just amazing.
"I like you Mai." Ashton said in between each kiss.
"I like you too Ash." I said whilst giving him one last big kiss.
"We better get going Ash." I said whilst breaking the kiss.
"Okay." Ashton said whilst holding onto my hand.
We walked back to mine, I kind of knew the way now to the lake.
How come I never knew that this lake was here. I have been here for nearly a month and a half, and now I find out there's a lake.
At least now I can hang out here more often.

We walked back into my house and decided to relax in the living room.
We walked into the living room, and we saw Logan still sitting there. "Heyy Logan." I said. "Heyy Mai." Logan said.
"Heyy Ash, I'm going to have a quick shower, you could wait down here and talk to Loge, while I'm having a shower?" I whispered into Ashton's ear.
"Oh, okay, be quick please, it's going to be awkward." Ashton whispered back.
"How?" I said.
"I don't think Logan likes me." Ashton said.
"You don't know that Ash." I said.
"You'll be fine." I said whilst giving him a quick kiss.
I quickly shut the door and ran upstairs to have a quick shower.
*Ashton's POV*
"Where did Maisie go?" Logan asked bluntly.
"She went upstairs to have a shower." I replied back.
"Oh. Okay." Logan said.
What is up with him?
It was so silent. And Maisie said it wouldn't be awkward.
"So how long have you known Maisie for?" I asked.
"A long time. My mum and Maisie's mum are best friends, so we were basically friends since we were born." Logan replied.
Wow, that's a long time!
"That's cool." I said.
"Why did you want to know?" Logan spat.
"I was just wondering." I said.
"Well stop wondering. Ugh, why would Maisie even like you." Logan said.
"What the hell?" I yelled.
"You heard me. Why. Would. Maisie. Like. You?" Logan said mockingly.
"What have I done to you, I was just trying to start the conversation, and then you're just being soo damn annoying." I yelled back.
"Me being annoying, you're the one being annoying Ashley!" Logan yelled.
"My names Ashton, not Ashley." I said.
"I don't care." Logan said. How can Maisie be friends with this jerk. He's just a complete arsehole.
"What's wrong with you? Why are you being such an arse, I didn't even do anything to you?!" I protested.
"Yes you did." Logan spat back.
"What the hell? I know you for like a day or two, and I did something to you." I yelled back, but not loud enough for Maisie to hear.
"You...you took Maisie." Logan shouted. He got up and walked away.
What just happened?
And what timing. Maisie came back.
"Heyy you, where's Logan?" Maisie questioned.
"He, he just left." I said.
"Why?" Maisie asked.
"Did you hear anything whilst you was upstairs?" I asked.
"Nope, I was kinda in my own world." Maisie said whilst laughing.
"Oh, well me and Logan kind of had an argument." I said truthfully.
"Oh my gosh, why?" Maisie gasped.
"At first I had know idea, I thought he just hated me. Then Logan said that it was all my fault, and I asked how it was my fault. And..he left." I lied at the end, I couldn't tell Maisie, I know she told me that she doesn't like him in that way, but that could change her perspective to things.
"That's weird for Loge to do." Maisie said whilst snuggling into me.
"Come on let's watch a film." Maisie said.
"Yes! What film?" I said eagerly.
"Hmm, how about....Meet The Robinsons?" Maisie said.
"Yeah sure, that's a good film." I said.
"It's not good Ash, it's amazing!" Maisie said.
"Ash, can you pause the film please, so I can find and make some food?" Maisie asked.
"Yeah sure, what are you gonna make?" I asked.
"It's a surprise." Maisie said. "I thought you hated surprises?" I said. "Yeah I do. But I like giving other people surprise though." Maisie said whilst smiling. She's so weird, but I love it.
Maisie came back with a bowl of popcorn, and plateful of pizza, 2 cans of coke, and a banana, for me, cause she knows how much I like my bananas.
"You've got food to last us for a while night Mai." I said whilst laughing. "I just brought a variety you poo." Maisie said whilst leaning into me. I wrapped my arm around her and pressed play.
I was full up on the pizza that it made me fall asleep. I didn't realise I was asleep until I felt someone snuggle into me. I opened my eyes and I saw Maisie, she had fallen asleep. She so cute when she sleeps. I stopped the film and I picked up Maisie and carried her up into her room. I placed her carefully into her bed and put the sheets over her. "Goodnight Mai." I said whilst kissing her cheek.
As I was about to leave, I heard a voice. "Don't go. Stay." Maisie said quietly. Her eyes were still shut. She was either awake, or she was dreaming. "Huh?" I asked. "S-stay Ash." Maisie said. I thinks she's up. "Are you sure?" I asked. "Of course, come here." She opened her eyes and pulled the blanket off for me to come in.
I took of my shoes and carefully laid down beside her. Her pillow and blanket smelt just like her. I'm so weird. Then I felt Maisie lean on my chest, she placed her arm around me. "Good night Ash." Maisie said whilst looking up to me and giving a quick kiss. "Good night Mai." I said. I wrapped my arms around her and went to sleep.
