Juliet's POV
two hours into the party
I have no idea what's going on. I lost Hayes in the sea of people.
"Hayes!" I called his name.
That's when I bumped into Melanie.
That bitch. She was one of Hayes's ex-girlfriends, and she's been making fun of me for no apparent reason.
"Juliet! I haven't seen you since I went to boarding school!" She hugged me.
I almost gagged at all the perfume she was wearing.
"I haven't seen you either." Thank god.
"Here have a drink." She have me a paper cup with cherry scented liquid.
"It's cherry soda." She smiled.
I accepted the soda and drank it.
"Hey have you seen Hayes?" I asked.
"Yeah, he's over there." She pointed at a big group of people sitting in a circle.
Some girl was on his lap, kissing his cheek.
Tears were building up in my eyes.
"Looks like Hayes found someone else." Melanie said a little too loudly.
All eyes were on me, including Hayes's big blue ones.
"He wasn't mine in the first place." I spat and I ran out of the house.
"Juliet wait!" Hayes ran out behind me.
I just kept running. I don't know where I was going, but I ran until my legs hurt.

Hayes's POV
I screwed up.
I screw everything up.
"Hayes." Melanie smiled as she rests her hands on my shoulders.
"Just get away from me." I pushed her aside.
"Hayes! You don't even care about her! She doesn't belong with you!" Melanie cried out.
"NO! I DO CARE ABOUT HER! I CARE ABOUT HER MORE THAN I CARE ABOUT YOU. And I don't care if she doesn't belong with me because I'm already in love with her." I confessed.
The room went silent.
"You love her?" Melanie said.
"Yeah, and I don't care if the whole fucking world knows." I said.
I turned and ran up the stairs.
I went in my room and slammed the door behind me.
I couldn't stop the tears from running down my cheeks.
I lied down on my bed and kept on crying.

Juliet's POV
I ran all the way back to my apartment.
I sat on my bed and didn't stop the tears from coming.
I grabbed my phone and see if Hayes contacted me.
Turns out, I had 5 missed calls and 20 missed texts.
They were all about him apologize.
I won't let him do this. He can't just screw up, and expect me to forgive him. I don't think so.
So, I called Aaron.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Aaron?" My voice cracked.
"Juliet, is everything okay?" He said.
"Yeah, you know, just family problems. But could you come over?" I asked.
"Yeah I'll be over in an hour." He said as he hung up.
I didn't want him to think I was crying for hours.
I went to the bathroom, wiped the makeup off my face. I put my hair in a messy bun and put on sweatpants and a Victoria Secret jacket.
I sat on my bed and put in The Notebook.
Then I heard a knock on the apartment door.
"Juliet!"
I ran out of my room and opened the door.
"Hey Aaron. Want to come into my room and watch a movie?" I said.
He nodded, walked in, and followed me into my room.
He sat down on my bed and I did the same.
"Is everything okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"Juliet, I've been thinking..." He said.
"What?"
"I think we should break up."
"Wait, why?" I said, completely in shock.
"Juliet, we both know this wasn't going to work out." He said.
"Yeah. I agree." I sighed.
"Juliet, I really like you. You're so beautiful, you're smart, and you're the first girl that's ever liked me. But I think we're more best friends then boyfriends and girlfriends." He said.
"Then can you just stay here? And be my best friend?" I said.
"Yeah. And I'm glad we felt the same way. I wouldn't know what to do if you burst into tears. Now, since we broke up, what was up when you called me?" He asked.
"Please don't be upset. Promise?" I asked.
"I promise."
So I told him everything, up until I blacked out.

Aaron's POV
"Juliet?" I shook her.
She was passed out on the ground.
"Oh my god." I whispered as I carried her and took her outside.
"HELP SOMEBODY HELP ME." I screamed.
People were coming out of their apartments, and since the party Juliet was talking about was over, everyone was staring at me.
"Someone get a doctor! Call an ambulance! Oh my god, help me!" I screamed.
I sat on the ground and laid Juliet's head on my lap.
"Is Juliet okay?" Hayes came up to me.
"Get away from her."
"Dude, what's your problem?"
"The problem is that I was there for her when you weren't!" I yelled.
He moved back.
"Just, let me talk to her."
"You can't talk to her! Because she might be dead and you weren't there when she needed someone like you! You might've drugged her for all I know!" I yelled.
"Don't accuse me for something I didn't do! Why would I even drug her?"
"To get her out of the way. To hurt her?" I named the possibilities.
"You're sick if you think that."
"No, you're sick because you actually did that." I said.
There was a huge circle of people around me.
An ambulance finally came and they took Juliet away.
"I wasn't the one that drugged her!" He pushed me.
"Then who was it?" I screamed.
I had enough. My fist connected to his jaw, making a big cracking sound.
"Melanie." He said as he was coughing up blood.

Juliet's POV
I couldn't see anything.
I could only hear and feel.
Hours must have past, because after the yelling and the screaming faded away, I heard beeping noises and the shuffling sounds of paper.
What was happening?
"Juliet!" Someone called my name.
I tried to tell back, but I couldn't.
"Thank god you're okay."
It was Hayes.
I'm glad I wasn't able to look or talk to him because I would've punch him.
"Look, I know this is all my fault. It's my fault for letting Melanie in and her drugging you. It's my fault I wasn't there with you at the party. And it's all my fault Aaron broke up with you." He said.
Wait, Aaron broke up with me because he said it was mutual.
"Truth was that I forced Aaron to break up with you. God I'm so selfish! I mean, if Aaron likes you I shouldn't bother in your relationship. It's just that I really like you, Juliet. I'd hate to see you with someone else." He said.
I don't know what to think, does he really like me that much? Wait, he made Aaron break up with me!
"I don't care if you don't want to talk to me again, I just want you to wake up." He sighed as he grabbed my hand. His hand was warm.
I tried to say something. Maybe I said, "please don't leave."
"Don't worry, I won't leave." He brought my hand up to his cheek.
I didn't want him to.
