Months went by and we were already in October. One day, I was in potions class daydreaming of course at Luke when Professor Slughorn asked me a question.
"My dear Madison are you feeling quite well your face is red? Is it the smell of the dragon blood?"
I didn't know what he was talking about until Marley behind me and pointed at my face. I knew what that meant: I was blushing.
"Ummm-" I thought for a second. I had to leave and make an excuse till I became normal again.
"Sir I don't feel very well, may I be excused and get some fresh air please?" I said.
"Yes my dear of course take as long as you need." He said. Professor Slughorn was always very nice to me. He even made Marley, Luke, and I all part of the SlugClub.
As I walked out, I heard Marley tell Slughorn,
"I'm going to go check on her."
"Yes I think that's a good idea." He said.
"Eventually I started to head for the library but Marley caught on to me.
"Hey, are you okay? What's going on? You've been acting weird for a while."
She's been looking at me very suspicious and concerned for a while. I knew I had to tell her.
"I'll tell you, but not here. Follow me!" And I led her towards the back of the library in my usual row. And I told her everything about Luke.
Once I told her everything there was, the look on her face was shock. Then I spoke,
"But not a word to nobody or Luke and especially Albus. Especially him. Albus cannot find out about this." I say hat because Albus and I have always had this sort of special brotherly connection more than a cousin like relationship.
"Uhh ok yeah sure." She said. Then her shocked expression turned into a cheerful one.
"Oooh Madi has a crush and it's with my friend. And they're gonna get married and I'm gonna be their kids Godmother."
"SHHHHH! Jeez Marley, even I haven't gone that far." I said because she was speaking very loudly.
Once we left, we decided not to go back to class for the rest of the day. Marley made an excuse that she was gonna stay to keep an eye on me.
When classes were over, Luke brought us the remainders of our homework, including my extra classes. He's so sweet, DAMNIT MADI! These are the weird and strange thoughts that go on inside my head.
We headed down to dinner around 6:30, because we were busy hanging out. We were in the middle of dessert when McGonagall stood up from her seat and silenced the room.
"May I have everyone's attention please." She began and the room fell silent. "I have a announcement. As you may know, Hogwarts used to compete in the Triwizard Tournament until it was removed from existence. Now we're not bringing it back, however, along with the tournament, there was something else. It was known as the Yule Ball which was held every Christmas Eve for the Tournament. Although there is no more of that, the staff here at Hogwarts decided to make something new, something that all the students at Hogwarts could attend. So, on Christmas Eve night, each and every one of you is allowed to attend a new event at Hogwarts. A Winters Ball!"
There were several looks and glances and murmurs and whispers.
"Now there is something for you to think about hmm. Goodnight everyone."
I felt like all the emotions of my body had been sucked out like a vacuum. A Ball? I thought inside my head. Now, I've never been one to be girly but, when it's a Ball for dancing with dates and doing the waltz and wearing fancy dresses, I'm one to talk.
That night, I figured every girl and boy would be talking about the ball. I knew the girls were overexcited so I had al the girls from my house meet me in the girls lavatory to do some girl talk. This was going to be a long, yet fun night. Good thing it was Friday.
