Chapter Two: Chicken Nuggets
I was so engrossed in my phone, trying to beat my high score in jelly jump, that I didn't even realise that I'd reached my locker. Just one more jump you gotta do jelly! One mor-
The jelly wasn't the only thing that fell as I suddenly collided into something hard. I hardly had any time to process it and by the time I did, my phone had already fallen to the ground. I look up into the skeptical grey eyes of an insanely attractive guy.
His dark brown hair was slightly messy, as if he had been running his hands through it. He was definitely a good few inches taller than me too.
I blink rapidlysnapping out of my thoughts, and open my mouth to speak but he beats me to it
"Are you blind? Watch where the fuck you're going!" he growls and pushes past me.
Now I wasn't the type of girl to pick fights with random guys, but someone needed to put this guy in his place.
"Who do you think you're talking to asshole?"
He turns around. "What did you just call me?"
I cross my arms and stare right into his eyes, challenging him. "I called you an asshole. Want me to spell it out for you? A S S H-"
Henarrows his eyes. "You're one annoying girl, aren't you?"
"And you're one giant dick, aren't you? I retort.
He smirks. "Thanks for the compliment Gem. Would you like to see it?"
"As if, I don't want to see anything to do with you."
Well, that's a lie because he's easily one of the most attractive males I've seen. He's no Dylan O'Brien but still very attractive. Let's just keep that a secret for now.
"I'd love to stay and chat but quite frankly I have better things to do."
I scoff whilst watching him walk away. "Well so do I!"
Gigi appears beside me with Ryan and Carter. "Talking to yourself again Dee?"
"Something like that..." I snap myself out of my thoughts. "Come on let's go to class before we get detention for being late on the first day."
Carter pats my shoulders. "Lead the way princess!"
I elbow him hard in the stomach. "What did I say about calling me princess?"

"Is Mason seriously skipping the first day? I can't believe that idiot." Gigi says as we both sit at our table in the cafeteria.
Mason was the last member of our group and was loved by everybody. It might be the fact that he's insanely athletic or that his perfectly gelled brown hair makes him look like Prince Charming. He was easily the sweetest boy you'd ever meet.
"I texted him before. He said he'd be here soon." Ryan says whilst taking a bite out of his sandwich.
"Make that now." I look up to see Mason stealing a french-fry out of my plate.
I slap his hand. "Where've you been? Why are you back? And get your own food."
He frowns at me putting his hand over his heart. "Firstly, I had stuff to do. Secondly, ouch. Thirdly, I like eating your food, cupcake."
Mason's called me cupcake for as long as I can remember. It started when Ryan and Mason became friends in second grade. Ryan invited him over to our house and Mason, being the annoying 7 year old he was, stole MY cupcake which I was eating at the time. So I did what every girl would do when you steal her food, I went all WWE on him and body slammed him to the ground.
"Hey guys!" I hear Carter shout from the other end of the cafeteria. "I found us a new friend!"
We all look between each other.
Ryan shakes his head. "What's he gone and done now?"
Carter walks over to us dragging his 'new friend' along with him, who we couldn't really see because he was too busy texting on his phone.
"Guys meet the newest addition to our group."
The boy finally looks up and my eyes instantly lock with those dazzling grey ones I've seen before. My mouth automatically hangs open, I don't know how long for but he definitely noticed it.
He smirks. "Good to see you too, Gem." He walks over to me and lifts my chin up a little, closing my mouth. "I know I'm hot but you don't want to catch flies, do you now?"
"Do you know who I am, Gem?"
I shake my head.
"Ever heard of Landon. Landon Knight?" I think about it for a moment. The name did seem to ring a bell... Got it!
"Oh yeah I do know a Landon Knight!" I say when it finally hit me.
He smirks. "Finally-"
"Yeah! He's the guy that works at McDonald's and gave me free chicken nuggets last week!"
He stares at me blankly. "Chicken. Nuggets."
"What? Did I say something wrong?" I look around the table to see Mason and Gigi with their heads in their hands, Ryan glaring at us and Carter giving me a thumbs up and smiling.
"I'll let you figure that one out by yourself, Gem." He gets up, gives Carter some bro handshake and then leaves the cafeteria.
Ryan scoots over. "Heidi sweetie, honey, sugarplum?"
I roll my eyes at him. "Yes, brother dearest?"
"Do you remember that kid who was a basketball player on our school team and I'd always come home and tell you how Coach favoured him more than anyone on the team?"
I nod and wait for him to continue.
"Then he got sent to boarding school for doing something... bad."
"Yes, but why are you telling me this?" I ask whilst taking a sip of my juice.
"Because Landon Knight is that boy and the same boy that just talked to you right now."
I spit out my drink. "What!"
Carter looks at me and takes a sip of his own drink and does the same thing.
"Thanks for ruining my sandwich guys..." Mason lifts up his now wet sandwich.
"That means I called Landon Knight an asshole. I called the schools bad boy an asshole! What if he tries getting revenge on me... or worse kill me!" I say in the most dramatic way possible, only to be met by the stares of everyone in the cafeteria.
Heidi Thompson afraid of a teenage boy? I think not.
Okay maybe... just a little...
Gigi sighs and stands up. "What are you all looking at?" They all quickly look down and start eating their lunch again.
"Snap out of it, drama queen." Mason says. "He's not gonna kill you."
"Yet." Carter whispers in my ear and gets out his phone, playing some creepy horror music.
I slap his arm. "You're the idiot who invited him to come sit with us!"
"I didn't know he was 'The' Landon Knight! He looks different!" He puts his hands up defensively.
"Well, did he tell you his name?" Gigi asks.
Carter scratches his head. "Yeah he said, 'It's me, Landon Knight'."
"CARTER!" We all shout in unison.
"I thought he was another Landon Knight!" He shouts back.
Mason pinches the bridge of his nose. "How many Landon Knights do you possibly know?"
"One..."
Ryan huffs whilst shaking his head. "Idiot."
"He might not even sit with us at lunch tomorrow." Gigi reasons.
"Yeah, I doubt he'll even remember our faces." I reassure myself.
I mean what's the chances of Landon Knight, the most popular guy in our school, remembering me? Zero.
Or so I thought.
