December 20th 2016 ~
The first day of the Christmas Holidays started with a burst as Professor Burnet has gifted Ash with five Pokeballs enabling the Kantonian to catch new Pokemon roaming around Melemele island. After his shower, Ash and Pikachu headed out to Hau's house hoping he would join them on their quest for an Alolan Pokemon.
Finally arriving at the front door, Ash lightly tapped the back of his knuckles against the wooden door patiently waiting for someone to answer, but it wasn't long until Hau's mother opened up and presented herself.
Alana: Morning Ash! Its been so long since I last saw you!
Ash: Oh, Auntie Alana! It sure has been a long time.
Alana: I'm presuming you're looking for Hau and if that is the case he'll be down soon from his shower, so why don't you come in a sit down?
Ash: Sure!
Alana took a few steps back allowing Ash to enter the building and as she walked through the doorway he noticed many photos had invaded the wall to the left of him. As he walked further down the hallway he noticed a group photo consisting of five people.
The Kantonian stopped dead in his pave staring at the group photo realising who was in the picture.
Alana: That was taken ten years ago. Myself and Hau visited Kanto to pay a visit to you and Delia along with Professor Oak providing shelter during our stay.
Ash: Yeah, I remember. Me and Hau would play with the Pokemon in the lab all day long while you and mum would continue to hold conversations with Professor Oak all day.
Alana: It was fun visiting other regions ya know, but since then we haven't left Alola due to being so busy.
Ash: Must be tough, but my mum and I moved to Kalos eleven months ago because she enrolled me into a school called Sycamore High, that's how I ended up in Alola.
Alana: Your school introduced the student transfer program didn't they?
Ash: Yeah, you're right. How did you know?
Alana: Hau told me about everything that happened in Kalos as soon as he arrived last week. It was a shocker for my seeing my own son walk through the door, but I was also overwhelmed with happiness.
Ash: He was progressing alright. He wanted to compete in the Kalos League so he started to collect Gym Badges and by now I'm sure he has three.
Alana: I'm not surprised since hes always out and about.
Hau: Ash?! What are you doing here?
The young trainer slowly descended from the second floor greeting Ash and Alana, still surprised by his cousin's appearance, but he wasn't complaining.
Ash: Morning Hau! I thought why not stop by because I'm actually heading out into the jungle outside Hau'oli City.
Hau: Why would you be going there?
Ash: Me and Pikachu want to meet new Pokemon and maybe even catch one.
The Kantonian rubbed his Electric-type partner on the cheek as Hau admired his cousin's efforts to adapting to the Alola life.
Alana: What a great idea! There's no better way of understanding the Alola region then having an Alolan Pokemon on your team!
Hau: Oh, Now I understand! I'm also presuming you want to tackle the trials and island Kahunas
Ash: Well... I was told about them, but I still need to learn more before jumping into action.
Alana: Smart thinking. Besides, getting an Alolan Pokemon on your team will give you a better understanding of the new Pokemon you've never seen before.
Hau: Wait, do you have any idea of what Pokemon you want to catch?
Ash: Yeeeaaahhhh... I don't really know, but I'm sure after some exploring a Pokemon will eventually intrigue me.
Hau: Hmmm... The jungle on the outskirts of Hau'oli City is home to many Grubbin and Pikipek.
Ash: Then what are waiting for?! Lets get going Hau!
Hau: Wait! Let me grab my bag Ash!
Bouncing up from the sofa, Ash sped off leaving the house with Pikachu barely hanging onto his shoulder while Hau quickly grabbed his bag and gave chase for his cousin leaving a bright smile stained on his mother's face.
After pushing their way through the busy streets of Hau'oli City, Ash, Hau and Pikachu finally made it to the entrance belonging to the jungle. They peered in listening to the creepy and mysterious noises slowly escaping the overgrown location.
Hau: Are you sure about going in there?... I mean we could find other Pokemon in another location.
Ash: What?! No way! I'm going to catch a Pokemon from this jungle!
Pikachu: Pika!
Hau: I've got a bad feeling about this...
Ash: Oh Hau, you have nothing to worry about at all! We'll be fine because Pikachu is here.
Pikachu: Pika!
The electric mouse posed proudly upon his trainer's shoulder acting like a guardian for the two trainers.
Ash: Alright buddy, why don't you hit the ground and sniff out any interesting scents.
Pikachu: Pika!
Quickly breaking his over confident pose, Pikachu hopped off his trainer and landed on all four belong sniffing the ground and nearby bushes, vines and trees. Gradually walking deeper into the jungle, the two boys grew bored due to nothing happening around them.
Ash: I would of thought a jungle this big would be more lively.
Hau: I was thinking the same... Where could all the wild Pokemon be?
Ash: Migrated perhaps?
Hau: No, they wouldn't need to since most of the Pokemon originally living here in the jungle are adapted to the high temperatures.
Pikachu: Pika!
Notifying the two boys, Pikachu began digging at a lump of mud which was sitting beside the trail. On arriving, Ash and Hau helped the electric mouse dig at the lump of mud only to find a Pokemon.
Ash: A Pokemon?!
Hau: A Rowlett?! What would once of these be doing here?
Ash: Hmmm... Its wing, there is pure redness vibrating from under its wing.
Hau: Hold on, its a good thing my mum always puts Oran berries in my bag before heading out.
Ash: Wait, didn't you have one of these?
Hau: Well... I did, but there's a slight if.
Ash: A slight if?
Hau: I was only borrowing it from Professor Kukui. I asked him if I could borrow a Pokemon during my stay in Kalos so I wouldn't feel lonely, then the day I returned to Alola I handed Rowlett back.
Ash: Now that explains it. Anyway, lets feed this wild Rowlett an Oran berry.
Hau: Sure thing.
After a few seconds of rummaging through his bag, Hau finally found a small blue berry quickly handing it over to Ash, so the Kantonian could help Rowlett. Ash held his hand above the Grass-type Pokemon gently titling his hand until the Oran berry rolled into Rowlett's mouth.
Swallowing the berry whole, Rowlett slowly moved its sharp beak, then gradually opened its small eyes slowly getting its vision back. Upon seeing Ash, Hau and Pikachu looking over it, Rowlett blinked multiple times before jumping up in curiosity.
Ash: Morning Rowlett! Your wing looked badly red, so we fed you an Oran berry which should help you recover!
The Owl like Pokemon tilted its head scaring Ash and Hau, forcing the duo to jump back in fright as Rowlett's head laid upwards on its green, bubble like body.
Pikachu: Pika?!
Hau: W-W-What?! I didn't know Rowlett could do that!
Ash: It sure is an interesting Pokemon.
Hau: Why don't you catch it? If you do, take it to the Pokemon Centre so Nurse Joy can provide a full check over.
Agreeing with Hau's idea, Ash immediately snatched an empty Pokeball from his belt and held it out in front of Rowlett.
Ash: Great idea!.. Rowlett? Will you let me catch you so we can take you back to the Pokemon Centre? There you'll be treated for the wounds you picked up.
Once again Rowlett tilted its head at Ash, then all of sudden the Grass-type quickly forced its body to return back to normal after hearing a slight aggravating noise.
Hau: You hear that?...
Ash: It hurts me ears, but yeah. I wonder where the sounds is coming from.
Rowlett: Purchirp!
Rowlett performed a full one hundred and eighty degree turn with his head allowing him to see directly behind him. After listening to the annoying sound for a few more seconds, the Grass Quill Pokemon pushed off the ground taking off leaving Ash and Hau behind.
Ash: Rowlett!
Pikachu: Pika!
Hau: Ash, lets follow it! Maybe it found the origin of this annoying sound.
Ash: Right, lets go!
Giving chase, Ash and Pikachu dashed off while Hau lacked behind as he hurried, wrapping the bag straps around his shoulders, then eventually began running after his cousin.
The race continued to happen for a few more minutes as Rowlett breezed past the jungle's obstacles even when its handicapped with a damage wing. However, Ash and Hau experienced something different as the Kantonian bashed his shin against a large stump while Hau found himself caught in a bunch of loose vines.
Once they recovered from their comedic setbacks, the two boys once again caught up with Rowlett, but the curious Pokemon was watching something from afar on the ground. They entered stealth mode as they crawled up besides the Grass-type, but when Ash discovered why Rowlett had stopped in its tracks, he immediately wrapped his left arm around Pikachu and Rowlett while grabbing Hau's tee-shirt collar with his left hand pulling them into a nearby bush.
Hau: Ash?! Whats gotten into you?
Ash: Shhhh! Be quiet!
Hau: Huh?... But why?
The Kantonian peeked through a small gap in the bush trying to collect as much vision as he could. From where Ash sat, he could only see the entrance belonging to a large opening. However, deeper into the spacious field a group of Grubbin and Pikipek were caught in nets.
Ash: Pokemon Hunters...
Hau: P-Pokemon Hunters?!
Ash: Shh... I don't know if they're the same Hunters we encountered back in Kalos, but I know for a fact that if we see any Pokemon Hunter we shouldn't be caught by them.
Hau: But what about the captured Pokemon? We can't just leave them.
Rowlett: Purchirp!
Pikachu: Pika pi!
Both Pikachu and Rowlett started to wave their wings and arms above them crazily trying to gain Ash's attention. Once noticed, Ash and Hau lent their ears to the Pokemon. Trying to explain through multiple of actions and their signature cries, Ash partly understood the story.
Hau: What were they saying?
Ash: Thanks to being with Pikachu for such a long time, I was able to unscramble their Pokemon language enough to find out that the captured Pokemon helped Rowlett a long time ago when it first arrived here in the jungle.
Hau: Then save the Pokemon we must!
Rex: Well well well... What do we have here?
Before anyone could react, a group of hands jabbed their way into the open bush gripping onto the boy's clothing and the Pokemon's fur pulling them out from their hiding spot. As they were thrown to the ground, Ash caught eye onto the Pokemon Hunters trapping Pikachu and Rowlett into clear view capsules made out of glass.
Rex: Before you twerps try ordering your Pokemon to attack, I should warn you. Those capsules they're in is made out of glass which is irresistible to Pokemon moves, but even if you did move out of line, I will order my dear friends Terrance and Terry here to shock our collection of Pokemon.
Hau: We don't have to worry! Ash here will think of a plan to get us out of here!
Rex: Oh? Terrance, shut that kid up with some tape.
Terrance: Right away boss!
Rex stood confidently above Ash as he watched Terrance place a tight patch of tape upon Hau's mouth preventing the youngster from talking.
Rex: Now, watch the boy and Pokemon while I catch up with our buddy Ash.
