Randell's POV
"Here's the payment for Mr.Davis's treatment" I handed the cheque to Dr.Morris
"Woahh, thanks Mr.Neville" he was still looking at the cheque that I gave him
"I want you to do everything you can to make Mr.Davis walk again" I ordered
"I'll definitely do my best" he replied
I was about to leave the room when suddenly Dr.Morris called my attention
"Mr.Neville, why won't you let them know that you're the one who's helping them?" Dr. Morris asked
"I have my reasons." I said firmly
"Just don't let them know that I'm the one who's helping them" I said
Dr.Morris nodded his head and I exited the room right after our conversation.
I can feel my phone vibrate from my pocket.
I checked on it and saw my private investigator's caller name appearing in my phone screen.
I looked around and spotted many people passing by. Afterall, this is a hospital.
I immediately went to the parking lot and accepted the call.
"It's been a while" I said
"Sorry Mr.Neville but I wasn't able to find the lady who saved your life" he mentioned
"Okay" that's all I can say.
I ended up the call and was about to leave the parking lot area, when suddenly a hear a familiar voice calling me.
"Jay!" He yelled as he was going in my direction
"Rain, what are you doing here?" I asked all of a sudden
"I went here to talk some matter to Dr.Morris about the procedures of dad's treatment. How about you?" He raised his eyebrows, giving me a suspicious look.
"I'm not feeling so good and I...uhmm..decided to have a check up" I lied
"Is Jena the one you're talking to on the phone a while ago?" He asked once again
"No. I was talking to my friend" I answered
"Okay, I'll be going now. Need to talk to Dr.Morris. Do you want to come?" He offered
"Uhmm, no. I'll be meeting my friend" I said
He nodded in return and left the parking lot area afterwards.
Oh, damn. I wonder if he bought my lie. I wasn't expecting to meet him here all of a sudden.
I saw a message on my phone. I wonder who it is.
From: Connor Brooks
Meet me in the coffee shop nearby
Now what?. I wonder what he's going to tell me this time.
I drove all the way to the coffee shop nearby. I spotted Connor seating on the fifth table.
"I wasn't expecting that you'll be here fast" He took a sip of vanilla latte
"What are we going to talk about?" I went straight to the point
"To talk about your decision. Have you made up your mind already?" He asked
"I already told you my answer before and that will not change." I said
"You know that I love Jena so much" I added
"Okay. You've picked Jena over your dad's company" he patted the table
"If you say it that way, then yes. I'm sorry for disturbing your time" and just like that I walked out.
He watched me left as he continued drinking.
I just can't believe that my own bestfriend is telling me to choose between Jena and my dad's company.
