Chapter 11

Jena's POV

I woke up and I got shocked when I saw that It's already 11 am.. I'm already late for work!

When I got out of bed, I feel as If the surroundings around me are shaking. I feel dizzy and when I checked my temperature, It says there 37 degrees. I have a slight fever.

I went downstairs to check If dad Is already awake.

I saw dad In the kitchen; he's opening the refrigerator and trying to reach the tomatoes..but he can't

"Dad..what are you doing?..let me get It" I said as I was pushing dad's wheelchair

"It's okay Jena...I can manage to cook " Dad insisted

"But--" I wasn't able to continue what I'm saying; Rain came down the stairs and It looks like he's heading to work now

"Jena, I'll be going now...take care of dad" he said as he was fixing his neck tie

"Join us for breakfast..besides you're not still late" Dad offered

he didn't say a word..he just nodded

I cooked omelet and made coffee as well for the three of us

Rain was eating very fast..as always. Dad suddenly open up a topic

"By the way, how's your job application yesterday In Neville's Design Incorporation?..are you hired?" Dad asked

"No Dad..they didn't accept me" Rain exclaimed..I can see that he's sad so I tried to cheer him up

"It's ok...there's still a lot of opportunities out there" I said; but that didn't help him. He still looks sad and disappointed of himself.

He handed me the list of things we still need to pay for this month

I saw that our electricity and water bills went high. Good thing we don't need to pay for a house rent; since we really own this house.

He stood up and waved goodbye to me and Dad

As soon as he left, I started washing the dishes. Dad insisted to water the plants outside so I agreed. I don't want Dad to feel bad for himself because Of Poliemyelitis . I want him to have a normal life. I decided to be absent for work today; since I'm not feeling well and at the same time to take care of dad.

I texted Donatello--Informing him that I'll be absent for today.

I got my savings from my room and I decided to divide those according to our bills

After dividing, The amount of my savings left Is 200 US Dollars.

I sighed and started thinking of ways In how to minimize our bils by next month

"I'm sorry Jena..If I've been a burden to you and Rain" Dad said as he was scrolling his wheelchair going to my direction.

"It's okay dad...you are not a burden to us." I said

"I'm glad that I adopted you...you have no idea how thankful I am to have a loving and caring daughter like you" Dad said wholeheartedly

"I'm also thankful Dad that you adopted me..I may not be your blood, but I'm 100 percent sure...that you and Brother Rain are my family no matter what happens " I said as tears are falling down from my eyes

"Okay.....enough of this drama" dad said as he was wiping away my tears. He started laughing to lighten up the mood and It mades me laugh too.

I decided to clean our small house. I went to dad's room first, and I started sweeping the floor. I was about to leave the room; when suddenly something caught my attention. I saw a calling card beneath Dad's bed.

I decided to go down and asked Dad about It. Upon giving It to dad; he's eyes suddenly widen.

"Uhm--this Is the calling card that the lady gave me last week. I went out of the house and....I saw a sign board In a travel agency office..they're hiring a ticketing agent..I was thinking If--" I suddenly interrupted " No Dad..I won't allow you to work..and I'm also sure that Rain will also tell the same" I said as I got the calling card from dad.

I don't know If what I did was right..I just want to make sure that Dad Is safe but why do It looks like I'm wrong?...I decided to wait for Rain ; In order to get his opinion about this. I just wish that I didn't offend dad a while ago.
