Ash was dashing through the forest, pushing away loose branches, ducking underneath broken logs and even jumping over large cracks in the ground.
Ash's POV
Pikachu... Serena... Gary.... They're all depending on me! I need to find and then save all three of them... I moved here only a month ago and I've got my friends and relatives caught up in dangerous things like this... I think after all this has been sorted I think I'm going to take a break, but for now saving my two best friends and the girl of my dreams is my top priority!
Ash was running even faster because of how determined he was to save the ones that needed saving, but Ash couldn't help crying, large waves of tears began to roll down the side of Ash's face, this caused him to stop running complete and collapse on to his knees.
Ash's POV
I'm sorry!.... I'm sorry to Serena, Pikachu and Gary for getting them captured! I'm sorry to Trevor, Shauna, Tierno, Shota, Clemont and Calem for getting them involved in this... And I'm especially sorry to Hau.... I was a complete jerk! I shoved him over when he had an broken ankle, but I did the worse.... I told him to.... no! I forced him back to Alola! Thanks to me Hau is now angry and unhappy with me... He's returning to Alola with large amounts of hate for me.....But for Hau I will find my old self again and I will save the ones I love!
Ash wiped the tears on his face with the black gloves on his hands and then stood back up with his hands clenched into fists.
Ash: Time to stop the Pokemon hunters for good!
Ash grabbed the front his hat with his right hand and pulled the peak all the way round so it faced behind him, his long black Raven hair collapsed threw the gap of the hat and over hanged in front of his brown hazel eyes.
Ash: Let's do this!
Ash began to run again at a steady pace, he wasn't going to give up until he had Serena in his arms, Pikachu on his shoulder and Gary eating his food again.
Ash has been running for a long ten minutes until he stopped in the middle of an opening, it was too dark to even see in front of him, so Ash quickly pulled a Poke ball off his brown belt and tossed it high into the air.
The red ball split in half and released a dazzling white light which hit the ground which revealed Charizard.
Charizard: Char!
Ash: Hey buddy! You feeling okay?
Charizard: Char!
Ash: Everything is fine! I'm still looking for Serena and Gary, but Pikachu got recaptured...
Charizard: Char!
Ash walked over to his large friend and patted him on his large orange nose.
Ash: Don't worry, we will find Pikachu again!
Hunter J: Or he will find you!
Ash: Huh!
A slim white figure slowly appeared from out of the trees, she stood opposite Ash and Charizard on the other side of the opening.
Charizard: Charrr!
Charizard moved its large right foot one step in front only to be stopped by Ash, he threw his arm in front of Charizard to stop him in his tracks.
Ash: Charizard wait!
Charizard: Char!
Hunter J stood confidently across from Ash and Charizard, she had both of her arms behind her back which Ash found suspicious.
Hunter J: So you're all alone?
Ash: Of course I'm not?
Hunter J: Oh really? I don't see anyone else around.
Ash: I have my Pokemon! My best friends!
Hunter J: Interesting, so do you cherish your Pokemon? Do you care for them?
Ash: I do! I'll always care for my Pokemon! Like Pikachu, I care for him otherwise I wouldn't be here for him now!
Hunter J: So.. The boy! Gary is it?
Ash: Yeah....What about him?
Charizard: Char!
Hunter J: What is he to you?
Ash: What is he to me?..
Ash felt like he was back in School and a teacher asked him a tough question, he was put on the spot, but Ash knew the answer.
Ash: What is Gary to me?... He's a brother... A friend... A leader! He can be annoying, but he's my closet friend! He's been with me since we attended pre school together!
Hunter J: How sweet.
Hunter J blew her nose like a snooty girl, she didn't think much of Ash.
Ash: Why do you want to know this?
Hunter J: I have my reasons and you have your own.
Charizard: Char!
Charizard was growing more and more agitated the longer he stood before Hunter J.
Hunter J: Now the girl... I already know her name.. Serena huh? She's important to you right?
Ash clenched his teeth together and tightened his fists as soon as Serena's name was mentioned.
Ash: She means so much to me...
Hunter J: A love affair?... That's interesting.
Ash: What do you mean! Where is Serena! Gary! And Pikachu!
Charizard: Char!
Hunter J lifted her right hand into the air and held it up for a few seconds, after a few seconds six figures slowly appeared from the bushes behind Hunter J, but three of the figures were unconscious.
Ash: S-Serena... Gary! Pikachu!
Rex, Terrance and Terry stood around Gary and Serena who was cuffed around their wrists with a rough piece of rope, but Pikachu was in a small metal cage.
Ash: Let Pikachu out of the cage! It looks too cramped in there for him!
Hunter J just stood their with a smirk on her face.
Rex: Look kid! Our boss won't just let your buddy out of the cage just because you asked her! She has one objective and that is to make money in the market!
Ash: No! That's wrong! How could you use Pokemon like that! They're not tools to be sold and used as slaves! They're meant to be out friends! Family! Not some thing that is used to make money!
Terry: You've got some nerve talking to us like that!
Charizard: Char!
Hunter J: Hold it! I want to learn more about his boy! I've taken a bit of an interest to this boy.
Rex: What! He's a threat to our wor-
Hunter J: Don't argue with me Rex!
Hunter J pulled a Poke ball from her vest pocket and held it tightly in her hand.
Hunter J: Rex is correct, you are a massive threat to our work! So I want to know you more by battling!
Ash: A battle?... You're on!
Hunter J: Perfect! Rex! Take the boy, girl and Pikachu to the side.
Rex: Rodger that! Terry! Terrance! Take the girl and boy! I'll take this rodent!
Ash clenched his fist even more after hearing what Rex had just said, but the raven haired boy shook it off and set it concentration on the battle.
Hunter J: Salamence! I need your assistance!
The women figure majestically tossed the poke ball up into the air which released a rather large dragon type Pokemon.
Salamence: Rawrgghhh!
Hunter J: Flamethrower now!
Salamence began to charge the ball of fire inside its mouth and fired straight at Ash and Charizard.
Ash: Charizard counter it with your own Flamethrower!
Charizard spat a large line of fire straight at the attack that Salamence had fired.
The two moves collided creating a mini explosion and the after wing blowing against Ash forcing him to protect his face with his arms, but Hunter J stood neutral, she didn't need to protect herself as she wore thick black glasses.
Ash: Now it's out turn Charizard! Use Slash!
Hunter J: Dragon Claw!
The two Pokemon launched themselves at each other, colliding against each other attack after attack until Charizard made contact on Salamence with its long sharp claws.
Salamence was sent backwards, but still standing.
Hunter J: Keep the pressure up! Use Dragon Tail!
Salamence: Rawrghhhh!
Ash: Use the same move Charizard!
Charizard: Char!
The tails on both Pokemon grew longer and became more scaly, it's color changed to green with a hint of shine to the color.
Ash: Now Charizard! Use Seismic toss!
Charizard: Char!
Charizard jumped off the ground and flapped it wings and began to fly towards Salamence at high speed.
The large orange lizard picked Salamence up using its short arms with long sharp claws.
Charizard flew up with Salamence in its grip, once Charizard thought it was high enough it spun around in circles and then shot directly straight down towards the ground.
Hunter J: Use Hyper Beam to intercept!
Ash: Use Flamethrower at full power!
With Salamence still in Charizard's grip, the two Pokemon fired their attacks directly at each other, only for the moves to to continuously cancel each other out.
Ash: Quick Charizard! Throw Salamence to the ground before it's too late!
Hunter J: No!
Charizard couldn't react quick enough so the large Pokemon tightened its grip on Salamence and shot straight into the ground creating a large dust cloud making it impossible to see who came out on top.
Ash: Charizard!
Hunter J: No! Salamence I demand you get back up!
There was no response from either Pokemon so Ash and Hunter J had to wait till the smoke cleared which left Rex, Terry and Terrance in shock.
Rex: Who won!
Terry: Surely the boss! She can't lose to some pesky kid!
Slowly the dust cloud faded away revealing a large crater in the ground with both Charizard and Salamence laying on the ground fainted.
Ash: It was a draw...
Hunter J: You're Charizard is stronger than I expected.
Ash: It's because I believed in Charizard! I believed in his strength and he tried his best and that's what counts!
Hunter J: You fool! You need power to win battles! I need a salemencite! With that I can become so much stronger!
Ash couldn't believe it, another person relying on mega evolution to bring out a Pokemon's true strength.
Ash: You're wrong! You're completely wrong!
Rex: Don't you dare speak to the boss like that!
Hunter J: Let the boy speak Rex!
Rex: Hmmmm...
Ash walked over to Charizard, knelt down and started to stroke Charizard's head.
Ash: I don't believe in using mega stones! You don't need them to show a Pokemon's true strength! All I rely on is the trust and bond between me and my Pokemon!
Hunter J: You're wrong! I need mega evolution to prove how strong Salamence is!
Ash: You're wrong! Mega evolution is not the true strength of a Pokemon and bits trainer! It requires a strong bond between the Pokemon and its trainer, but I don't believe that using mega evolution will bring out the true strength!
Hunter J: Hmmm...
Ash pulled out Charizard's Poke ball and returned the large lizard.
Ash: You need to show the trust and love between yourself and Salamence!
Hunter J was hit hard by Ash's word, but she wasn't completely brain washed.
Hunter J: Alright kid... I think you've made your point!
Hunter J smirked at Ash then turned around and returned Salamence.
Hunter J: As much as I hate you... You may be right...But stay out of my way! I don't have time for you kid!
Ash: I don't care! I'm never giving up till the very end!
Once Hunter J heard those words a small smiled formed on her face.
Ash: I'm saving my friends and if that means I have to battle then I will!
Rex, Terrance and Terry all placed their hands on a Poke ball each from there own belt waiting for the command from Hunter J.
Hunter J: Rex! You're up next for the batt-
Ash: I'm not fighting you! Just let Serena, Gary and Pikachu go! Please! That's all I'm asking for!
Rex: That's enough Kid!
Ash: I don't want to battle.. But you've made me...
Ash grabbed a Poke ball from his brown belt and tossed it up into she sky.
Ash: Sceptile! Be alert for anything!
Sceptile: Tile!
Hunter J couldn't believe what she just heard.
Ash: I know Sceptile can mega evolve.... But I don't I want it to-
Ash stopped himself half way through their conversation.
Ash's POV-
I now know why Hau got mad with me! I didn't let him decided... I forced him to return to Alola on my behalf, but I should of never replied like that...
Hunter J: That's enough! Rex!
Rex, Terrance and Terry couldn't believe what Hunter J had said.
Rex: Wait what?!
Hunter J: I'm calling this operation off! Ash!
Ash: What!
Hunter J: I'm letting you off this one time! Consider yourself lucky Ash!
Ash: Wait after all this? You now give up?
Rex: You can't cancel the mission!
Hunter J: Well I just did! We're going back to the headquarters...
Terry: What! That bratty boy is right!
Terrance: He's got a point... But an order from the boss must be followed!
Hunter J: Let the boy have his friends back!
Ash: Oh no you don't! I'm making sure-
Terrance: Weezing you smokescreen!
Before Ash could command Sceptile to attack, Terrance countered attacked by using smokescreen.
Ash: Sceptile! Once the smoke disappears use leaf blade!
Sceptile: Scep!
Once the smoke disappeared no one was there to be seen apart from Serena, Gary and Pikachu all leaning against each other unconscious.
Ash kept his cool, but there was one more thing that he had to do before he woke Serena up.
Ash bent down onto one knee and placed his bag onto the ground, he then rummaged through it until he found the small box that had a Sceptilie in.
He took the shiny stone out of the box and held it close in one hand.
Ash's POV
Mega evolution can be an powerful thing thing, but it's not for me... I don't want to use a stone to discover more powers about me and my Pokemon! I'd rather win a battle with hard work and pride! But using mega evolution is Just isn't my thing... So that's why I'm doing this for the best!
Ash wrapped his hand around the Scepilite and looked over to the forest, it was starting to become sun rise which meant Ash had been out all night to hunt down the Pokemon hunters only for them to retreat and give up, but this is for Ash and the future of his Pokemon!
Ash: I'm sorry Steven Stone! Forgive me!
Ash leant back and launched the arm that had the Sceptilite in towards the dark and creepy forest, he wanted to rid of it so he could prove to everyone that you don't need mega evolution to be the best.
Once Ash let go off the Sceptilite he watched it take flight and then land in a bunch of bushes far from
where Ash was standing, but something was on Ash's mind that was bugging him.
Ash: Why did the hunters give up so easily?....I don't understand... Are they up to something...
Serena: A-Ash?...
Ash: Serena!
