living along our coastlines and wetlands,
they include auks, murre and skua,
that majestically walk along the sands.
Shorebirds help connect the world,
this is done by their annual migration,
we must take care of their habitat,
not destroying it is our obligation.
Shorebirds usually have long legs in relation to their body size, the shape of their bills shows their preferred diet and habitat, a long bill is ideal for getting crustaceans and worms from deep mud, a short stubby bill can move stones and shells on a rocky foreshore and shallow water. The route that shorebirds use on their annual migration is called a flyway.
