"Prom will start tonight. Aren't you excited?" Your friend Nico asked. Well, it was a long story short. You had a crush on Nico when the two of you were in 6th grade. But you got over it when you found out he was not straight. But then, just when the first year of highschool had started, it was fate who planned you to be in the same service. Coincidence.
The two of you started to be bestfriends, and no one had ever stopped the two of you. But it was a very long time ago. Now that you two were in 12th grade, it was like he was your brother, because you actually didn't have any sibling. You sighed and shook your head. "Come on Nico, you know I don't like going to prom," you answered, giving him a poker face.
"Mostly girls get excited when it comes to prom," he said. "I don't think Will is coming." He sighed. You made a small grin, you knew Nico was inlove with the son of Apollo since they had met—but hey, whoever knew that Will was also inlove with Nico? Well, you were the only one who knew that Will also liked him. Actually, he is coming. So you better should attend prom, you thought, smiling.
"And why are you smiling?" He asked, cocking an eyebrow. You laughed, "Nothing. I was just thinking if Will's gonna come," you answered with a sarcastic tone. He playfully glared at you and blushed and said, "Guess he'll never come but. . .maybe? I don't know. I'm pretty sure he'll bring a prom date—a girl." You shook your head and set your hand on his shoulder, "Look, Neeks, if I were you, attend the prom. I swear to the gods you will be happy," you said. But he rolled his eyes.
"How about you?" He fired back. "Who's your prom date?"
The two of you walked into the other building for a Graduation practice. Graduation was coming soon—two weeks after prom. You remained silent. He nudged your arm. "Look, are you going to tell me or I will tell you?" He asked. You made a confused look.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"Oh please, don't pretend you don't know. I know you're going to ask Luke out."
"What? Dude, no way. I told you before, we don't like each other anymore. And besides, if you read Paper Towns, I'm gonna say that I am agreeing with Quentin. And a boy and a girl or a couple going to prom? Another casualty. You know Nico, I won't attend prom."
"Okay, there's nothing wrong with going out with someone, maybe not Luke. But maybe just a random guy in the school. Come on [Name] please. . .just go to prom."
"Nope, I won't. And right after the practice, I'm going to get the gown for Annabeth," you said. "It's in the cabin. Wanna go with me?
"Um, sure. Wait, you mean the mint green with black lace gown? Annabeth's borrowing it?"
"Actually, I'm gonna give it to her."
"Wait but, that was your birthday gift from Demeter—you're her favorite niece right? Why would you give your gown to her?"
"You know I don't like gowns and stuff like that. I'd rather wear jeans than dresses."
"Um, ehem. Girls should wear dress in the graduation, remember?"
"DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO SAY THAT NEEKS." You looked at the ceiling while walking, and then you entered the large room. The others were making a line to the stage. You saw Luke Castellan looking at you with wide eyes. He was given another life by Hades—you wanted to forgive Luke. And Hades was the one who raised you. You grew up in the Underworld, and after years of training with Nico, Hecate came in and introduced herself as your mother. And so after the war, you started to live in Camp Half-Blood, in the Hecate cabin.
"Guess we're late."
"Yep, we are," you whispered. You put your backpacks on the benches and headed to the line by alphabetical order.
"SHAYE!" The teacher shouted. You made a nervous look. It was already in the last names starting letter S. But you were concerned at Nico, his name was before the letter S. Ms. Howard looked at him with a deadly serious face. In 3. . .2. . .1. . . "DI ANGELO!!!!!!!!!!!"
Everyone including you and him covered ears. Ms. Howard's voice probably consisted of 900 zillion megaphones. (it's a hyperbole). After the 900 zillion megaphones all of you recovered and looked at Ms. Howard. She was stomping towards your friend. "Run," you whispered. Nico took your hand.
"THE TWO OF YOU—THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME YOU WILL BE LATE!!!" She shrieked.
"Um. . .yes, ma'am." You said nervously.
"I KNEW IT, GODLINGS!!!"
You gasped and looked at Nico, he also did a nervous face. "What are we gonna do?" He whispered. "When I say Run, then run, okay?" You said. He nodded. Suddenly, Ms. Howard's hair turned into ringlets of hissing snakes. Her eyes glowed, but before it happened, the two of you looked away. "Run," you said. And then the two of you ran as fast as you could.
"Don't look back, just hold on to my hand until we reach my car, okay?"
"Okay," Nico said while running. "What on earth is Medusa doing here?! I thought Percy already killed her years ago?!"
"She's not Medusa," you said, panting. "She's Medusa's sister. One of the three Gorgons. She is an immortal so she can't die. We just have to run as fast as we could so she can lost track of us."
"Okay, let's go to camp," Nico said fast. You started the engine. You already sped to 100. Since the road was just empty. You were almost a few kilometers away when something hit the car. The car went flying, then smashed into the trunk of the pine tree, the mirror broke into pieces and you accidentally bumped your forehead onto the wheel. You lost your consciousness. Your mind blacked out. Nico was still awake, but some parts of his face bled because of the remnants of the broken mirror.
He was breathing hard and looked at you. "[Name]!!!" He shrieked. The car was tumbled upside down. He couldn't get out. He needed help. The car smoked, and suddenly a small fire started to light up. "SOMEONE HELP!" He was scared, he kept shouting for help. And then a few minutes later, someone beyond the smoke appeared, a shadow of someone. Nico thought it was the monster, but it was not. He suddenly realized he knew the person. His bestfriend.
Luke.
"Luke!" Nico shouted. "Luke help! [Name] have just lost her consciousness!"
Luke ran and helped him get out of the car. "Ow. . .my leg!!" Nico muttered. "Get her out! I think the car's gonna explode!"
"What happened?" Luke asked.
"I don't know!" Nico held his head, leaning on the trunk of another tree. "Something just hit us!"
Luke made a worried face and went to [Name]. He carried you out of the car. "We have to get to Camp Half-Blood in the infirmary," he said.
"But how?"
"Dude, I'll take care of [Name]. Will's gonna come to help you," he winked. But he was still worried of you. Nico glared at him. And then Will came. "Will, help Nico up. The car's gonna explode in a minute I guess."
"Okay, come on Neeks," Will helped him up. All of you got in of a van. Jason was the one who was in the driver's seat. "Hurry up guys!" Jason shouted. "I saw a monster flying toward us. A mile away."
"Alright, let's go," Luke said, sitting on the passenger's seat. He turned around to look at you.
That night, you woke up, you didn't know the people around you—everyone. There was a blond guy with blue eyes, and a small scar on his face, who was beside you. Another fudging blond guy with blue eyes, but he had a bow and arrows. A boy with black hair and obsidian eyes.
You sat up. "Who are you?!" You asked. Everyone looked at you—making a confused look.
"You're kidding, aren't you?" The dark haired boy asked. You made a confused look and shook your head no.
"I'm not kidding. Who are you? And where am I?"
Nobody talked, and then a centaur came in. You looked at him with wide eyes. What kind of creature is that? You thought to yourself. The centaur looked at you.
"Ah, well, I'm glad you're finally awake," he said.
"What the heck? A human horse?" Your brows furrowed in confusion before getting out of the bed. You stared at everyone, they were looking at you. "Look, I don't know any of you. Now I really have to go—"
"[Name]," the boy with blond hair with a small scar said your name.
"How did you know my name?" You asked. He stared at you with concern. He looked at the dark haired boy.
"Nico, I'm gonna take her out."
"What? Why would you take her out?"
"I'm going to tell her past."
My past? I don't even remember my past. You thought.
"She has amnesia, Luke!"
"I know that," he looked at you. "Come on with me."
"And why would I?" You said. "I don't even know you. And I'm okay—amnesia has a good advantage, makes you forget your past. A new start."
"But you don't understand. You have to know your past."
"Yeah whatever," you said, darting out of the infirmary. You made a huff and went to find a way out of the place. You didn't even know it. All you knew was that you had this oath with Connor. You promised him not to leave him during the war, which you still remembered. A boy named Connor, you had to find him.
"[Name] WAIT!" The boy called again. You turned around and exhaled in boredom. "Will you please stop following me?!" You demanded. "Get away from me."
"I won't leave you," he said, crossing his arms.
"And why is that? Just leave me be!"
"No, you have to know your past—"
"I don't even know who I am, okay? And who are you even to meddle with my life?"
You watched him look down. Silence filled over after all the people around you stopped.
"Guys, what's going on here?" A boy came in. You looked around and saw him. You sighed with relief, and ran to hug him.
"Connor!" You exclaimed. You pulled away.
"Um, [Name] why did you hug me?" He asked with a confused tone. He looked around, and then everybody went back to their stuff.
"Connor," you said. "I'm sorry."
"Sorry for what?"
"For leaving you during the war."
"Look, that happened years ago."
"And so? I want to let you know that I didn't actually want to leave you."
He smiled and hugged you. "Okay, but I think Luke is looking at you."
You turned around at the guy, his name was Luke. You saw his face in jealousy. And then you turned around. "Connor, what does he really know about me? And what happened to me? The days before I found myself here," you said. He looked at you with confusion.
"You have amnesia?"
You nodded.
"Well, Luke will tell you. He knew everything about you."
"What?"
But Connor left. You sighed and went to Luke. "Hey um. . .sorry for what I did a while ago."
"It's okay," he said.
"What do you really know about me?" You looked down. The two of you walked and walked. "The thing I couldn't forget if I had amnesia," he said. "We liked each other."
You looked at him with wide eyes.
"I was about to ask you out in prom this night but the incident happened, so I couldn't attend, we couldn't. We're in the same school you know. You saved me during the war, [Name], years ago. We promised that after we graduated in highschool, we're going to be in the same school in college. And then when I died in the Titan war, you begged Hades, the one who raised you—to give me another chance to live. Because you loved me—"
"Wait wait hold up dude. We loved each other? No way."
"It's okay if you don't believe me. But we have been friends for years. I hope our friendship doesn't end between us." He walked away, but before he did, he put something inside your closed hand. When he was gone, you opened your hand.
It was a necklace with a small silver pine tree pendant. Suddenly, you remembered everything about you—your mother and father, where you grew up, when you talked to Luke to side with the Olympians, for the sake of peace and for the sake of your bestfriend Thalia. Your relationship with him, when you broke up with him, when you saved him during the war, and other things that had happened to you—you ran to find him. You looked at the pendant, it was the one you gave him when he was about die, but then, he gave it back to you when you had amnesia, to remember everything between the two of you—your friendship with him—your love for him.
