Haven looked up as she stepped out of her maroon colored vehicle, the massive house in front of her was daunting enough for her to want to turn back home.

If it wasn't for Bella, Haven wouldn't even be here in the first place.

Noticing the brunette's hesitance, Bella linked her arm through Haven's, "It's important that you hear what they have to say, they can explain it much better than I can."

The Cullen's home was elegant and modern, which Haven thought was ironic considering the age of the people who lived in there. The house was mainly made up of glass, the total inside of the main room could be seen through the windows that bordered right around the main frame. The only other sight was brass wood that detailed surroundings of the house and the steep steps that led to the front door.

Haven didn't know what she was actually here for. When Bella returned from Italy after her run in with the Volturi, the whole Cullen coven had returned with her. The first time that Haven saw Bella after the whole incident, of course the two had been elated to see each other again but then Bella told her best friend that the Cullen's had something to tell Haven about their time with the Volturi.

To be fair, Haven didn't actually know the Cullen's that well. She had only talked to them a few times at school before they moved and obviously the fact that they left Bella unprotected in a town that was full of supernatural threats meant that Haven wasn't too sure of them. She didn't know if she should be trusting them, but Bella seemed to and that settled the huntress' nerves a bit.

The pair began to walk up to the front of the daunting house, Bella looked down at Haven's free hand and laughed lightly, "You know, you didn't have to bring the crossbow. They aren't going to hurt you, I wouldn't let them do that."

Indeed a compact crossbow was gripped tightly in Haven's hand, an arrow already positioned in the bow so that the brunette was ready to fire it against anyone if necessary. You couldn't really blame Haven, she was about to enter into a house of vampires who could so easily end her life.

"You might trust them but I don't, in fact I barely know anything about them."

With her arm still linked with Bella's, Haven let the teenager lead her into the house. The interior was sleek, made up of blacks, whites and woods. Haven couldn't help but focus her gaze around the room as she admired what the vampires had done with the place.

Not even noticing that there were people in front of her, Haven jumped slightly when she saw the Cullen's all dotted around the room. Alice and Jasper were seated on the plush, white sofa. Jasper's arm was cradled around Alice, Haven could see his grip tighten as they both looked down at the crossbow in her grasp. Emmett and Rosalie were standing off to the side, Emmett smirking slightly at the weapon lodged in Haven's hand, wanting to see how he would fare against it.

Bella unhooked herself from her best friend and went to stand next to Edward who was the closest in proximity to Haven, he smiled at seeing the pair together when they walked in the door. He knew how much Haven had been there for Bella in his family's absence, he couldn't find words to thank the huntress enough for keeping the love of his life safe and happy.

"Haven, I'm Carlisle and this is Esme. I presume you know the rest of my family." The man's hair was blonde and his skin stark white like the rest of the vampires in the room, he pointed to the woman who he was keeping close by his side. Like the rest of the people in the house, Esme had skin the color of fresh snow, her brown hair falling in perfect curls around her face. She sent a smile Haven's way, although something about her seemed rather tense.

Nodding slightly, Haven didn't really know what to say. After all, they were the people that requested she be here in the first place.

Alice stood up from her seated position on the sofa and approached Haven with slight caution in her step, "We have something that we think you should be informed about, it happened when Bella, Edward and I were in Italy."

Interrupting, Carlisle stepped forward before Alice could continue, "You can put the bow down, Haven. We aren't going to hurt you or anyone else."

"I don't know if I can trust you, so the crossbow is going to stay."

Haven did feel bad when she snapped this at Carlisle, just by his tone and demeanor Haven could tell that he seemed like a caring and compassionate man. But the only thing that Haven couldn't get out of her head was the fact that this family willingly left Bella alone in this town, knowing of all the supernatural dangers. Also the fact that their absence caused her to go into depression that Haven and Jacob had to pull her out of.

Carlisle understandingly nodded towards the brunette in front of him. He knew that there was no reason for Haven to trust the coven of vampires, especially after they all left Bella high and dry, and he knew that it was already a stretch for her not to be gutting them out right now as this is what she was trained to do.

Bella had informed the Cullen's about Haven's hunting style; to only hunt things that were doing harm to human lives. This explained a lot to the coven and they were entirely grateful for Haven's decision as it meant that they could once again live happily in Forks.

But they were also aware of her closeness to the Quileute tribe, Bella had informed them of her best friend's obvious liking and connection towards Jacob Black.

They knew she was unpredictable but this was an important thing to tell her, considering what it could mean for her future and how she lives her life. Haven and the Cullen's had one thing in common, and that was the fact they both cared for Bella. The Olympic coven was all too aware of the pair's connection and this meant that they had something that they could come together for, someone to fight for.

"You know who the Volturi are right?" Alice asked the girl softly, knowing that the news they were going to have to deliver to her was something that Haven wasn't going to expect or have any clue about.

"Yeah, we went over it in my training," Haven noticed the space that her and the vampires were keeping from one another, the gap showing the reluctance and lack of trust, "They are like the vampire law enforcers."

"Essentially, yes. They are the most powerful vampire coven to exist," Carlisle spoke up from beside Alice, his arm still wrapped tightly around Esme, "And they want it to stay that way."

Furrowing her dark brows, Haven gave the vampires a perplexed look. She didn't know why this mattered to her at all.

Noticing her lack of understanding, Edward stepped forward towards the huntress. He could only see the confusion on Haven's face, it was frustrating for him that he couldn't delve into the girl's thoughts, "The Volturi will do anything to have power over everyone, they collect vampires who posses certain gifts that will help them become a bigger force."

"What does this have to do with me?"

"The Volturi know who you are. They're watching you and they want you to join them." Alice muttered out finally, her eyes shut to avoid seeing the brunette's reaction.

Haven didn't know what to think. She had not clue why the Volturi would have any use for her considering she wasn't a vampire, "Why would they want me?" She whispered out, trying to process what was being said to her.

All of the vampires in the room heard her of course and it was Edward who answered, "The Volturi have been working with hunters for centuries. They know how powerful you guys are and what the effects would be not to have you on their side. You have weapons that could wipe our kind from existence, you have the ability of heightened hunting abilities and you are immune to any kind of gift that some vampires have."

Bella had told Haven about the special abilities some vampires had the privilege of having. She knew about Edward's mind reading, Jasper's mood control and Alice's visions of the future but what Haven didn't know was that those in no way could affect her.

"Wait, you guys can't use your abilities on me?" Haven asked wondering how her parents forgot to tell her this, although she was presumed it was because she hadn't really crossed paths with vampires until now.

Edward shook his head, he only wished that he could access her mind in this moment so he could see that she was fully understanding the danger she was in and what it meant for how she lived.

"The Eldridge blood line is one of the most powerful, which is why the Volturi had worked with them in particular for centuries. They have been watching you for years, Haven and now that they have watched you excel in your training, they want you on their side," Carlisle bought the conversation back to the relevant issue. "They plan on approaching you at some point, trying to get you to join them in order to rid you from getting in their way whilst adding strength to their coven."

Haven didn't know why her parents hadn't told her that her family line worked with the Volturi, "I'm not going to side with them, I know what they do to people."

Alice sighed wishing that she could see into Haven's future, she wished that she could see how this was going to turn out, "They don't care. They can't make you join them but they will make you want to, Haven. You need to talk to your parent's about your family history, you need to be prepared for them to want to see you."

They can't make you join them but they will make you want to, Haven.

Something about this stuck in Haven's mind, she had a terrible feeling in her gut that she wouldn't be able to escape this. If the Eldridge family line was what the Volturi were interested in, then Haven had to talk to her parents and like Alice said, be prepared for the shit storm that was sure to occur.

After all, the Volturi were an unstoppable force and Haven was now right in their vision line.
