As I sit on my bed in the Apollo cabin, tears streamed down my face as my brother, Will Solace, placed his arms around me and brought me into his embrace, trying to reassure me that everything was going to be ok. I wanted to believe his words, but no matter how much I tried, I just couldn't. Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Y/n L/n and in case you haven't worked it out yet, I'm a daughter of Apollo. The reason as to why I'm crying is because just recently, I found out something that changed everything.
Flashback
I was in the sword arena, practising with my bow and arrows in the archery field when suddenly, I felt a presence behind me. On instinct, I turned around and pointed my weapon at who was behind me, only to find that it was my best friend, Jason Grace son of Jupiter/Zeus.
"Dam it Jason, don't sneak up on me or you might end up with a celestial bronze arrow straight through your chest." I said as I transformed my weapon back into its necklace form and placed it around my neck. He placed his hands up in the air and said,
"Duly noted. I don't particularly want to be pierced with arrows, not my style anyway." All I did was giggle before placing my hands around his torso and hugging him. He placed his hands around my waist, returning the hug and we stayed like that for a while, feeling comfortable within each other's embrace. We pulled away after a few moments and I instantly missed the warm feeling I had when hugging him. So I might have a crush on the blonde Superman. Can you blame me? With his soft blonde hair that I could just run my hands through and his beautiful blue eyes that I could lose myself in, also the fact that he is my best friend. How could I not fall for him? He is always there for me when I need it and I don't ever want to lose him.
"Hey Y/n, what are you thinking about?"
"I'm just thinking how lucky I am to have a friend like you. I don't know what I would do without you, Superman." I said with a smile on my face. I couldn't help but giggle when I saw a hint of a blush on his face but before I could say something about it, he placed his hands around my waist once again and whispered in my ear,
"If I'm Superman, can I be your Superman and save you from all the danger that comes your way, risking my life so you can live safely and peacefully? Devoting my entire life to you, doing everything I can just to see your beautiful smile that sends my heart racing every time? Would you allow me to stay by your side, through all the good times and the bad as well as being your knight in shining armour?" My jaw dropped as he gave me a kiss on the cheek and I could feel them heat up as well as my heart beat faster from his words and his action. I was literally shocked from his words and had absolutely nothing to stay. Jason pulled away from me and I heard him chuckle.
"You may want to close your mouth, or else you'll catch flies." All I could do was hit him in the arm and say,
"Shut up." He chuckled as I pouted. However, I was soon giggling along side him since I can't be mad or sad at him for so long. All of a sudden, I felt immense pain in my head. I clutched my head as tears formed in my eyes.
"Y/n, are you ok? What's wrong?" I could hear the concern in his voice. I tried to reply, but the pain was too intense that all I could do was whimper in pain.
"Y/n?" Suddenly, black spot started to appear as my knees felt weak and I felt myself start to fall. Just before I had hit the ground, I felt his arms around my waist, catching me just before I hit the ground. The last thing I heard before the darkness took over was,
"Y/n!"
Time skip
I felt my eyes flutter open as I awoke after what felt like forever. I looked around me and saw that I was in the infirmary. I suddenly remembered what happened, how I got an immense pain in my head and then, nothing but darkness. As I was looking around, I felt someone's hand holding mine. I looked down and saw a very familiar person, sleeping on the edge of the bed. I placed my other hand on his head and stroked his hair as I whispered,
"Jason." All he did was move his head slightly to the left.
"Hey Superman, wake up." I said and it seemed to do the trick as he had woken up.He looked around and as soon as he saw me, he immediately got up and hugged me, bringing me right into his chest, not like I was complaining.
"Y/n! You're ok. You have no idea how worried I was." I hugged him back and when I did, I felt a minor twitch in my arm. Jason must've noticed because he pulled away from the hug and looked at me in concern.
"Y/n, are you ok?" I looked down at my arm, inspecting it for anything that might be wrong. When I couldn't tell, I said,
"Honestly, I don't know. I can't tell if there is anything wrong. I might go and ask Will about it. If you'll excuse me Jason, I'll see you later." He gave me one more hug before I got off from my bed to go and find Will. After looking for a while, I finally found him. I walked up to him and said,
"Hey Will, can you help me with something please. I need your help to see what is wrong with me."
"Ok, just lay down for me and I'll see." I did as he told me to do while he got to work. He ran a few test and after a while, he looked to have a look of concern as he said,
"Y/n, I want you to stay here while I go and get dad."
"Will, is something wrong?" I said with a worried voice.
"I really hope not." Will left the room while I stayed on the bed, wondering what could be wrong. Not too long later, Will returned with dad by his side. Dad didn't say a word, all he did was look at the test results that Will provided him. As he was looking over them, he suddenly had a look of sadness on his face.
"Dad, what's wrong?" I asked, suddenly overcome with fear. He walked over to me, placed a hand on my shoulder and said,
"Sweetheart, the reason as to why you had the severe headache and the twitch of the muscles is because you have Cancer, a Brain Tumour to be exact." All I could do was run out of the room, straight to my cabin and collapsed on my bed, tears streaming down my face.
End of flashback
Will came in not too long later and has been here for me the whole time. As soon as dad said the words, I was overcome with such emotion that I just didn't know what to do. I held onto Will tighter as the fear took over my body, fear of what could happen while I have this Tumour. Worst case scenario, it kills me.
"Will, I'm scared. I'm scared of what might happen." He pulled away from the embrace, looked into my e/c eyes and said,
"Y/n, everything is going to be ok. You are going to beat this Cancer and I'm going to be there every step of the way. I'll do whatever I can to help and I'm sure Jason would do the same." As soon as he said Jason's name, I was overcome with dread. I placed my hands on Will's shoulders and said,
"Please Will, you can't tell Jason. I don't want him to know."
"What? Why not? He's your best friend, he deserves to know." I hung my head with a defeated and scared look in my eyes.
"I'm scared that if he finds out, he might treat me like I'm fragile and I don't want that. Just because I have Cancer, it doesn't mean things have to change, I'm still me and I'm not going to let this change who I am." I felt his fingers under my chin, tilting my head so I was looking into his blue eyes.
"Y/n, you know this changes things. What if it gets worse and something happens to you? I know Jason and I know that he would want to know something like this. I know he would want to be by your side through this. You should tell him."
"I can't Will, I just can't." Tears formed in my eyes and began streaming down my face. Will didn't say anything, all he did was hug me once again and stroked my hair in a calming manner. Exhausted from today's events, I fell asleep in his arms.
Dream
I was walking along the beach, enjoying the view of the sunset as waves were crashing alongside the shore. The sight was absolutely breathtaking. Suddenly, I felt someone lace their fingers with mine. I looked to see who it was and said,
"Jason?" He gave me a soft smile and placed a kiss on my cheek.
"Hey there beautiful. Are you enjoying our date?" My eyes widened in shock.
"D-Date?" He laughed at my reply.
"Yeah, why wouldn't we be on a date? We have been dating for a while now. Are you feeling ok?" He placed his hand on my forehead as he spoke. I know that Jason doesn't actually see me in this way, but I decided to just go along with it, even if it is a dream. I won't ever be able to be with Jason like this, so I'm going to just go along with it, even for just a little while.
"I'm fine Jason, sorry for worrying you. And to answer your question, yes I'm enjoying myself and not just because of where we are, but because you're here with me. As long as you're here, nothing else matters." I looked into his eyes as I spoke and I found myself getting lost in them. He placed his hand on my cheek and caressed it.
"Y/n, I promise you, I will always be by your side." I decided to take a risk and said,
"What if I told you that I have Cancer?" Suddenly, his hand was no longer on my cheek and he began backing away. The scenery around is begin to change and I suddenly found myself all alone. Everything around me had disappeared, leaving nothing behind. I looked around me, seeing nothing but darkness, and noticed that Jason was no longer with me.
"Jason!" I shouted out, only to receive nothing but silence. I desperately looked everywhere around.
"Jason, where are you?!" I shouted once more. I ran forward, hoping to find him. I shouted his name over and over again, hoping that he can hear me. After looking for so long, I was about to give up until suddenly, I saw him just ahead of me. I felt hope and began running once again, even though my legs were aching and my chest was burning, my body desperately wanting to stop, but I couldn't. I ran and run, but no matter how much I do, I don't get any closer to him. It's like, the closer I get, the further away he is.
"Jason!" I shouted. Suddenly, he began walking away from me.
"Where are you going?! Please,don't leave me all alone!" I suddenly fell to my knees, no longer having the energy or the will to move. All I could do was helplessly watch as he got further and further away from me. Black spots suddenly filled my vision and I could feel myself beginning to lose consciousness. The last thing I heard before I succumbed to the darkness was,
"We can no longer be friends Y/n, goodbye." Then, darkness took over.
End of dream
"Jason, please, don't leave." I whimpered as I awoke from my nightmare.
"Hey Y/n, it's ok. It was just a nightmare." I heard someone say. I looked to behind me and saw that I was still in Will's arms, buried in his chest. I didn't say anything, all I did was bury my head deeper in his chest, hoping to forget about my nightmare.
Time skip
After I was able to calm down, I decided to get out of the cabin for some fresh air. I walked over to the camp and after a while, I found myself in the sword arena. I looked around and noticed that Jason was training. I was about to go over to him, but then I remembered my nightmare and how he left me, so I decided to leave. However, just as I turned around, I heard him shout,
"Y/n!" I froze at his voice. Suddenly, I felt his hand on mine, turning me around to face him. As soon as I felt his hand on mine, I quickly pulled away. I saw a look of hurt in his eyes but ignored it.
"Y/n, is everything ok?"
"Everything is fine Jason. Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to leave now." I turned away from him and just before I left, I heard Jason say,
"Oh ok. But, we can hang out later, right?" I could hear the hurt in his voice. All I said was,
"Goodbye Jason."
"Wait! What do you mean, goodbye? It's like you don't want to see me anymore. Did I do something wrong?" All I did was walk away from him, making my way back to my cabin.
"Y/n?" I felt my arm once again being pulled and before I could say anything, I was pulled into his chest, his arms wrapped secure,y around me. I tried my hardest to escape from his clutches, but it was no use, he was just too strong. I eventually gave up and just stood there as he hugged me.
"Please, if I said or did anything wrong, tell me so I can fix it. You're my best friend and I don't want to lose you."
"Jason, please let me go." All he did was hold me tighter, making it impossible to escape.
"What did I do?" He said in a whisper.
"You didn't do anything wrong?"
"Then why are you saying goodbye?"
"I can't tell you." I felt him let go of me. I looked into his eyes and saw confusion as well as hurt.
"What do you mean you can't tell me? How am I suppose to fix what's wrong if you don't tell me?"
"You didn't do anything Jason, the problem is me. Look, you're the most important to me out of the whole camp and it's because of me that I am saying goodbye. I'm sorry Jase, it's for the best." I turned away from him and looked to the ground, not wanting to look him in the eyes any longer.
"What the Hades do you mean you're the problem? Please Y/n, tell me. I have the right to know." I started to fell anger towards him.
"Dam it Jason, I can't tell you!"
"I'm your best friend, I deserve to know!" Then, I felt something inside me snap.
"Fine! I'll tell you what's wrong! I have Cancer, a brain tumour to be exact!" All he did was look at me in shock.
"What?" He said in a whisper.
"You wanted to know so badly, well there you go. Hope your happy now." Before he could say anything, I ran from the sword arena, tears streaming down my face. 'Why couldn't he just respect that I didn't want to tell him? Not like it matters now. Great, now he's going to treat me differently and that's exactly what I didn't want to happen. I guess the only thing I can do now is avoid him at all costs. Dam it, that's going to be heard, especially when I have a crush on him. I'm sorry Jason, I truly am sorry.' I thought as I ran.
