Reset. When I left my home the next morning, I felt the cold of the rain sneaking into my skin. Although I noticed that I didn't wear any shoes, I just kept moving. I couldn't help it.
Autopilot was taking me over. I had the feeling that I drained more of myself with each step I took. I wasn't even able to think in words.
When I saw Cass climbing into the bus, I completely lost it. Surprise seemed no longer a possibility for me. Just blank.
Although I kept going, I didn't get closer to the bus that slowly moved out of my sight and with it any sense to me.
It was like somebody had pulled the plug. I was somewhere, but not where I was supposed to be.
I had lost all connection to the thing that should have been my body, while the rest of my awareness tried to communicate in a language I had never heard of.
I don't know what happened next, or if I actually dissolved, or how long I was out of order. But when I opened my eyes again, I just listened to this thought, telling me that I somehow knew that face that looked at me with a smile.
Then the sense of surprise gloriously returned, when I heard waves and seagulls, looking into a blue and sunny sky.
