Knuckles pov
I sat with my arms folded and my unbreaking gaze staring forward. My name is knuckles and I'm the last of my echidna race. I've been tasked with guarding the master emerald, my people's most treasured artifact. Sure this life is a lonely one but I like it that way. I'm fine with the duty I've been given and that's never going to change-
I was cut off by a kunai flying through the air and straight for my head! I caught it midair and tilted my head to see a young man with purple skin and golden eyes staring back at me.
"You" he pointed at me with a steely glare "you have the eyes of a warrior. I look forward to our battle"
"Battle huh" I stood up and threw the kunai down "ok I'm intrigued. Let's see what you got kid"
He did a barrel roll before chucking several kunais my way. I jumped out of the way, letting the kunais bounce off the emerald.
"Watch the emerald" I growled.
"You'd be better to watch your back" he appeared behind me and struck. I twisted my body and stuck him in the gut.
He stumbled back, gasping for air "so strong.. damn it!" He growled before disappearing.
"Hey get back here!" I ran down the stairs after him but he had vanished by the time I reached the bottom step.
"Damnit what the hell" I scratched my head in annoyance. Who was that? Whoever it was I have a bad feeling about this...
