AURORA
Sunday, 25th September

"And? What did Grandma Wells gave you?" "This bitch is now 200 dollars richer in her pocket!" Quinn yelled through the phone, where her mother heard her too.

"Quinn Florentine Jovanovic! That's not how I raised you." She admonished, who got quite annoyed at calling Quinn's full name. Incident when the second name that Quinn hates so much came up.

"Sorry mom. Just slipped out of me like this." Quinn's voice sounded apologetic and slightly annoyed. I need to stop myself from laughing out loud.

"Aurora, I'll call you later. I think my mother gave me another two-hour lecture why I'm not allowed to say the word bitch." I'm okay with a laugh I couldn't suppress, and then hung up.

I got up from the bed and walked into the living room, where Max was doing homework and my mother was cooking. "Quinn is at a family dinner." I told her and sat down next to Max.

I tore a grape from the fruit basket and popped it in my mouth. "The whole one?" I nodded. "Grandma Wells too." "Then Quinn must be making a profit."

"And?" I threw another grape into my mouth and looked at Max. "School is so difficult." Max breathed desperately over his math homework.

"Show me." I pulled on his book, which I then put in front of me. plus and minus. I love the subject.

"Look, just use pens when you can't count it fast with your fingers, you then calculate this result with it." He looked at the pens I lay to the side and nodded at my explanation.

"Thanks" he took his book back and started to do the homework. "Max, put the book away. Time for dinner."

My mother turned around with two plates in her hands. There was broccoli, potatoes and chicken on the plate. I smiled at her in thanks.

"So I have to work. Theo comes home late too, so don't mess around." Max speared the potato and put it in his mouth. My mother gave him and then me a kiss on the head.

"No TV until 10, go to bed at 8 and ask him to do his homework." I nodded. She said another fifty things that I already knew.

"Mom it's alright. You can go." "I'm so glad to have you. Love you."

"We love you too." the door got shut. "So you have something in mind, exactly what we could do?" I turned to Max and put a piece of meat in my mouth.

"Movie?" "I like your thought." "I'm just a genius." I rolled my eyes with a smile and went to my phone.

The internet is now teeming with stories about the basketball game against our school rivals. Girl with boyfriend's number painted on her face. Boys in their jerseys.

I've never been a fan of the whole basketball thing. It was always there for me, but not relevant. "What's going on?" said Max when the video played where girls walk around with a placard in their hands.

"A game. Takes place at my school." "What kind of game?" "Basketball." I put the phone down and continued eating.

"For real? Can we go?" I looked at Max, who immediately asked me with his puppy face. "No. I don't feel like it, and you haven't finished your homework yet."

I got up and went to the sink to clean my plate. "I'll be done soon, just one more task. Oh, come on, A."

"No." "Otherwise, I'll tell mom you snuck out." I turn off the water and turned to face him. "I didn't sneak out."

"Last week. I heard you." "You didn't." I dried the plate and put it back, in the cupboard. "If not, we can see how mom reacts." I rolled my eyes. I hate that boy.

"Do your homework, the game will start soon." Max nodded immediately and with a proud grin, chin lifted, he saw it as a win.

"Don't laugh so stupid." I took his empty plate and cleaned it too.

————

"I can't believe you really made me do this." "Come on, A. This is going to be super cool." I put my hands in my black vest that I put on and rolled my eyes as me and max walked into the hall.

It was almost too full. I didn't even recognize a person. All strangers who definitely go to my school. "Let's find a place." I grabbed Max's hand and walk with him to the left side, which looked emptier than the right.

Luckily, after a long search, we found a seat in the grandstand, almost in the first row. We sat down.

Max looked around and looked at the whole person. The cheerleader cheering, the mascot from our school, which was a tiger. Poor person, the one stuck in there.

"Look at the tiger!" Max pointed to the mascot with his finger. "That's a person who was probably forced to do this anyway."

I saw Max roll his eyes and put his finger down. I leaned back slightly and looked around. I'm so bored. How can Max celebrate this so much? It's just a stupid basketball game. I have to go to the restroom urgently. If only I had gone to the bathroom when we left.

"Hey kid." Zack ran across the field to us when he recognized me and Max.

Max stood up and gave Zack a fist dump . "What are you doing here?" I pointed at Max.

"He forced me." "I blackmailed her!" he says it so proudly. "With what?" Zack raised his eyebrow. "Are you stupid? If I tell you that, so you can do it too. Then I have nothing more in my hand."

"You're pretty cheeky for a nine-year-old." Zack tousled Max's brown hair, which almost resembled mine. "I'm not cheeky, just honest." he shrugged.

"Lahey can you stay with him for a moment? I have to go to the restroom." "Sure. Max, come on, I'll introduce you to friends of mine." "Oh yeah." I saw Max walking manfully with Zack too when I was walking to school.

The parking lots were full of cars, but the school was empty, like there was a zombie apocalypse and everyone was gone.

Stupid example, of course. I turned left to get to the restrooms. When I was just on my way there, I discovered a human soul in the corridor.

As we approached each other, I looked at him. He was pretty tall. He had a transitional cut from bottom to top, but his slightly long hair then went into a center parting. Light like those soft boys you often see on the internet.

They are brown, like his jacket he is wearing with beige sleeves. With a quick look, I could only see the jewelry he wore on his neck.

I glanced back over my shoulder when his gaze met mine. I quickly turned back to the front to go into the toilet. How embarrassing.

I was on my way back to Max and Zack. Stay in mind with this boy, who was looking at me at the same time that I was looking at him. He looked so familiar, but I can't remember from where.

I hate stuff like that, it's on the tip of my tongue, the name, the face, but was that it? "I hope I didn't give you too much trouble." I stood on the step and looked down at Max and Zack, who were just playing rock paper scissors.

"Of course not." Zack got up and said goodbye to Max with a ghetto fist. "Thanks." "No problem. I hope you cheer us on, Mitchell." I shrugged. "He definitely will." I pointed to Max, who already has a cap with my school's logo on it.

"My big fan." "Go Tigers." Max raises his fist as the audience says it after him. "Oh man." "Then we'll see each other." I nodded to Zack and watched me run to the team.

I went through the small gap that was free to walk through and sat down where Zack was sitting. "You do realize that I also have a cap at home?" "But your head is so big that my head doesn't fit in yours."

"How kind of you." I rested my head in my palms resting on my knees. "Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to this year's Tigers and Meyners game. I think everyone was as excited as I was." "Yes, Finn, I couldn't sleep the last few days. It means a big thing for the Tigers after the last loss."

The audience made a sad noise. I rolled my eyes. How much do you think they paid him to say such a shit? And in front of the whole school? I would definitely ask for a million.

"Aurora?" I looked sideways as I saw this boy I met in the hallway again. He was studying my face closely, think if he addressed the right person.

"It's really you." I pressed my lips together. "Sorry. But do we know each other?" "Kirian. Kirian Grimm." oh my god. My eyes widened as I stood up and hugged him.

"You're back." "Yes, I knew that you looked familiar to me in the hallway." I broke away from him again and offered Kirian a place with me and Max.

"What are you doing here?" "I want to see my new school, and I saw that there was a game." "And what happened to Russia? Why are you back?"

"Well, my mom and dad split up. She says she wants to go back to Boston. But my father stayed in Russia." You can hear his slight accent, which was changed by the Russian.

I haven't seen Kirian for a long time. It's been years since he was with me, and Quinn did a lot of pranks in middle school.

We hung out every day when he moved away and lost contact, but now he's back. So unexpected, but also so good-natured.

To be honest, I never thought that he and I would see each other again. "And who is that?" "A that's max. Max that's Kirian. We used to be friends in middle school."

Max looked away from the field to us. "You don't look like you hang out with my sister." "Your sister wasn't like that when she was little either."

"Annoying?" "Probably yes." ok, then you all just play against me. "But I have to know your sister again to be able to judge that." I felt Kirian put his hand over my shoulder.

When I turned to him, he was so close to my face that our noses almost touched. "Okay. Chill out." I put my arm away.

"Whatever you say." He winked at me and grinned as we heard the whistle blow and the game started.
